Well, there's one Fidelity bank in my area that has never failed! I repeat, HAS NEVER FAILED!!! works 24/7 and nobody has EVER COMPLAINED

Change your pin ASAP. It looks like an ATM scheme called Lebanese loop or fake processing center scheme, that delay was reading your card and funds might be picked up either in same bank or elsewhere. When you go to same bank next to complain, watch from afar what's conspiring btw the security for about 2hours before walking inside, you might see if it's a scheme. Securities are gullible and will want to continue, forgetting he will be caught someday.

On the 5th of June, 2018. I went to fix my phone in computer village. To pay for the phone parts, I went to the nearest ATM, at Stanbic IBTC Bank in Computer Village.

There were two ATMs, one outside facing the gate and the other by the side of the bank. While queuing on the one facing outside, a guy came to my front. I was about to tell him to join the queue but he told me that he wants N1000 notes and the ATM by the side is paying in N500 notes, that I should try there and it was free. The security man there also told me to try there.

As I was in a haste, I went to the ATM machine by the side, I tried to withdraw N10,000. The machine started taking like 5 minutes to dispense. After a while, it told me "My transaction has been completed". My card was discharged. As I was complaining, the security man told me not to worry, it would be reversed.

I had to borrow money from a friend to pay for the services. Once I got home I made a complaint via GTBank Internet Banking. The next day, I went to a GTBank nearby to make a compliant too. As at this evening, I got a response on my mail

I am now questioning, what the hell happened. The ploy for me to use that ATM seemed 90% like a setup. The ATM machine told me "Transaction completed" but did not pay my money. The security man immediately gave me hope in reversal. Now while trying to get a refund, I am being told that I was actually paid.

I am going to go on pushing GTBank so I can retrieve my money. But in the meanwhile, can someone with a similar experience or some knowledge tell me what is going on. Right here, I am feeling bloody scammed.

IN THE MEANWHILE, DO NOT USE THE STANBI IBTC ATM IN COMPUTER VILLAGE.
it happened to me...and I didn't get my money back...

same happened to me recently, Zenith bank refused to reverse the transaction, they gave the same reply like in your case not until I complained to cbn. They reversed it the Monday that follows my weekend complaint to CBN

Everything that happens @ the ATM is recorded so ask them to show you a video of your alleged withdrawal or you'll report them to the "Bankers Committee" for fraud.

You can't incur a loss because of their system inefficiency.

I do work in an ATM service company, you can actually sue Gtb for that response, there are three cameras in every atm in this country and one is meant to capture the moment you are receiving the cash from the clamp of the Atm. So my brother request they send you evidence of receiving the cash else you won’t hesitate to carry the case further.

About 2 years ago, I went to Diamond bank ATM at Iyana Ipaja to check my account balance, after checking my account balance, I stood there for about 30 secs thinking about how to make my move, (because no one was waiting) the ATM dispense 5k, I was more than surprised, I was shocked. I took the money, pocket it and proceeded to my destination. On crossing the expressway, i got 5k debit alert from my account.

What would have happened if someone was waiting to make use of the machine?? Sure I wouldn't have waited. Are you sure this is not the scenario that played out again?

there is this scam Video I watched on YouTube. The ATM dispenser slot is usually made to stay stuck by holding it in place with sth. When you make a transaction, the money actually gets dispensed but Since the dispenser has been made to get stuck, after a while, the machine leaves the money just at the mouth and assumes you've collected the money and ejects your card. When you leave out of frustration, the person who planned it comes and unsticks the slot at collects the money left there by the machine since it is not programmed to take back money only give out. Op.... Go back to that particular branch where the attempted withdrawal was made and lodge a complaint. The guy that jumped in front of you and the security man were both working together. They are the culprits. Go back to the particular branch and explain everything to them. Try to get your bank involved too.

What happened to you was a scam, the security guy knows about it and also the guy that cane to your front. This kind of scam has been happening here is South Africa for a long time. You are even lucky you got your debit card. Here you won’t get your card only to be seeing alert. Report to GTB and tell them about the security guard, he is involved.

There are a million ways to scam someone in Nigeria. The level of insincerity and wickedness in Nigeria is skyrocket high. Guys at Computer Village would scam innocent customers without any iota of fear or remorse. Bankers would steal from their customers. Banks would debit customers indiscriminately. ATM machines now 'swallow' money like the famous money- swallowing snake did sometime this year. SARS would 'obtain' guys because of the way the guys are dressed.... The list of possible ways to be scammed in Nigeria is inexhaustible. I just tire mehn!

Re-write to the bank telling them you didn't get value for your transaction and stating the period of the transaction and scenero surrounding it. You must get your money back. It's there duty to investigate. Please also indicate the branch and ATM used

Thanks. The ATM machine used was Stanbic IBTC @ Computer Village, Ikeja

I suspect both the security man and the guy that came in front of me suddenly. Funny enough, after I left the ATM at the side and being delayed for like 10 minutes, the guy was gummed to the other ATM. Perhaps to divert people to use the fraudulent one. My question is like, how is it even possible an ATM approves a transaction but you dont get paid?

Lalasticlala Please

Don't despair, walk up to the exact stanvic bank with a copy of the e-mail received from GTB and demand a review of the CCTV tape for the period in which you carried out the transaction.

They might want to tell you stories of "wait for some days", don't heed it

It's very possible.
The machine actually dispensed the cash but I think the guy and the security man has collided to rob you.
Obviously the guy before you has inserted a cover to block the money from coming out. The cover is purse-like.He would just remove it and retrieve all trapped cash.
I would advice that you back to Stanbic and lodge a complain.
They should be able to see what happened with their cctv camera.
You just have to state the date and time of transactions.
It's might be stressful but I think it's worth it.
That security man should be held accountable.

It happened to me when i went to keystone bank to withdraw money and my friend ordered me to use a closer atm at the bank premises. I key in my atm and i wanted to withdraw 40k so i keyed in 40k but to my surprise the atm counted the money and tried to dispense through the opening but couldn't. The atm returned the money back and immediately i was debited. I lodged the complaint and they said my money would be reversed..

This is not necessarily a scam, it can happen.

It is possible the cash dispenser is a bit pulled back and when it releases cash, it doesn't get all out to where you are, the cash is still within the ATM (Yes, this could be fraudulently done). The ATM journal will record CASH DISPENSED and NOTES TAKEN but this is not really the case. A Picture footage of you TAKING THE CASH will clear the issue - yes, the ATM records when cash is taken
