Hereforthistoo:

So in my search for stories written by Nigerians who have moved to Canada, I came across this blog post (Blackmigrantgirl[dot]c-o-m) where the writer shared her experience on moving to Canada from Nigeria and what she has had to go through in settling down. From quitting her luxurious job in Nigeria, to the stress she faced getting a new job in Canada and trying to find a suitable apartment etc. I wish she would post her "application timeline" here as previous PRs have done.

This lady committed something Nigerians are most likely to do here:

A Nigerian lady identified as “Blackmigrantgirl” on twitter took to the microblogging platform to share how she got a ticket for crossing “ordinary railtrack” Read her hilarious ordeal below; The logical side of me understands why I got the ticket but I am still unhappy about it.

Let me explain what happened. I had to travel by bus and by train from the venue of a job interview I attended today, back to the home of my hosts on the other side of town- in Stouffville. My bus arrived the train station with very little time to spare for the departure time of the train to Stouffville. Unfortunately for me, the closest route from the bus terminal to the train platform is now blocked off due to ongoing construction.

I then had to make a dash for it across from the bus to the train station, following the longer route, down the stairs and then up another flight of stairs to the departure platform. Only for me to get to the departure platform to discover that I was on the wrong platform and the train was on the far side of the station.

Adrenalin had already kicked in from all the running and I gave it free rein to cross the train track to get on my train. I didn’t even have enough time to think about the consequences of what I was doing. Of course I got caught ? Next thing I know, a security guard is walking up to me and asking me to step out of the train. Everyone was looking at me like I stole. Chai! My father in heaven oh.

Long story short, to my utter disbelief, th4e security guard wrote me a ticket for 180 Canadian dollars. All my explanation of being late, being new to Canada, not knowing I was violating a bye-law fell on deaf ears. Now I have to call the courthouse tomorrow, to beg for a lesser fine. Honestly, I’m just tired?. I just hope I am hired for the job that brought me downtown today”

Citizens of Nairaland,

I have couple of questions I need answers to:

WES indicated my Aptech Computer Education credential is not eligible for ECA. I don't have a Bsc., so that leaves me with my SSCE. As a dependent spouse (my wife is going to be the PA), do I still need to evaluate my SSCE?

Secondly, I have some pre-2010 travel histories to Ghana (mostly by road). The problem now is, I can't remember the exact dates and duration as I can no longer find the passport I used back then. It's an old passport. The one before the e-Passport era. Can I exclude those periods from my travel history as I can neither provide the passport nor travel dates.

Hello...I’m new here, I have a friend with a complicated work history and travel history and I need advice from the house. She has applied to several countries like the US, Italy, Spain and Canada for a tourist visa in recent times with different work documents which she was issued some of this visas and denied some. Her problem now is, for the EE, she don’t know if she would need to input all this work experience as most of the dates are interwoven and some of it don’t even exist and could cause doubts leading to misrepresentation considering that US has recently cancelled her previous visit visa without renewing it after expiration.... please she need serious help

Evaluating your SSCE adds 2 points to your wife's CRS score, it's now a question of if you need the 2 points.

Gurus here can take the second one.

Still Ghana. Content of the text is kinda misleading. Track your application online and you'd see it's being transmitted to the Accra office.

Hi,

Great people,

I have some questions/concerns.
I submitted our Passports at VFS office in Lekki on Thursday, the acknowledgement mail I got was that of Lagos office & not Accra.

Is PR Visa now issued from Lagos office?

PR visa is not issued in Lagos. They simply foward it through the Lagos office. The passports will still go to Accra.

Good afternoon house, I got a message from LVO yesterday and I have been scheduled for an interview at Accra after over 7 months of my application submission. To say I am very sad is an understatement.

When I submitted my application, I followed strictly what I read on the CIC website and also info I gathered in NL. I claimed a point for job from 2011 to 2014 in a one-Man business and submitted the following:

- Reference letter for the 2011-2014 job (in CIC format)
- Bank statements showing my current job salary payment (independent consultant to many companies)
- Letter of non-debtness (in CIC format)
- Treasury bills for POF
- Educational documents
- PCC etc.

I didn't submit:
- Bank statement for the 2011 - 2014 job showing salary statement because I was paid in cash
- Payslip because I wasn't issued one
- Employment & confirmation letter, which actually states my mode of salary payment as cash (I have it but I only submitted reference letter because I was following CIC list of documents)

After submission, I had wanted to submit the employment & confirmation letter but I didn't cos I was trying to be careful and waiting for at least an ADR which never came. Now I regret submitting few documents.

- Pls note it was a little salary and I use it to pay my incurred bills & run day to day activities. I never really deposited the cash in my bank account, maybe few times cos I was making a monthly thrift contribution which I later collected to buy my first plot of land (I still have the contribution card)

Now my question, How can I explain this whole story to the VO & what documents & materials can I take with me to the interview to prove this job. I am so worried now.

All contributions are welcomed. Thanks all.

Hi gogedda, I'm sorry you have to go through this wahala, moreso after 7 months of waiting.
However, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Your situation as you explained it doesn't sound like a problem at all. You didn't do anything wrong by not submitting the other docs. So many people with PPR submitted their application with only work reference letters in IRCC format. The issue may just be with your work duties or maybe that they were not able to get info about the company online, seeing that you mentioned it was a one-man business. Stay strong, gather all those docs you left out, any info you can get about the company (newspaper, online etc). Even Vconnect online can show bits and pieces of info about small businesses. You can add a printout of that if you find any. Don't forget to go with your intl passport and 2 passport photos (do new ones cos the one you did over 7 months ago would no longer be valid). It is well. Fear not. Be confident when answering questions about your work history and don't give any contradictory statements. I'm positive you'll receive your visa before you return. We are standing by for good news.

You shouldn't need to put your NOC C experience in personal history. You could put it in your employment history along with your NOC B experience. Show the times clearly when you fill in your profile & only make sure the letter clearly shows the duration (> 3 years, I supppose, for maximum points you intend to claim) you were engaged in your NOC B & NOC C jobs. You won't get points for your NOC C experience, but you'll get points for your NOC B. This way you don't have too worry about the letter. This is what I'd do if I were in your shoes.
Thanks so much. I'll go with your opinion.

The way you typed here, if you spoke to me that way with conviction and more documentation to prove your case, I will believe you. Alas I'm not a visa worker in Accra but God will go before you.

Don't be scared, get all your documents in tow. The employment letter especially and anything else you can lay your hands on. Be prepared to answer questions about the job itself and your past role. If any other issue was flagged, be prepared to defend your application.

Be very confident too while you speak. No fidgeting or avoiding eye contact. Prayerfully prepare for your interview. They are mere men after all. The truth will set you free.

Then come back and testify here with your PPR...

Good luck

We picked them up in Abuja on the 5th of June

A recent story on canadavisa website got me thinking. The required skills that Canada requires may change soon and affect CRS scores greatly. They may soon begin to look for experienced professionals in certain skills they require. This is what obtains for Australian PR and Canada might be looking that way soon. This is the link to the publication

https://www.cicnews.com/2018/06/what-will-the-future-of-express-entry-look-like-0610749.html

For those of us just starting and trying to get two or more degrees ,I advise that we pursue professional courses in our disciplines or other disciplines but not just bland pgd courses or diplomas that have no relevance to our fields.
