I'm 22 Years Old And A Burden On My Family, I'm Thinking Of Leaving Home. by Tommy34: 11:52am On Jun 12, 2018
I'm a 22 years old boy who's been constantly torn apart from within, I have always been seen as the black sheep in the family, I mean everything I do comes back to haunt me. I finished secondary school 2013, took Jamb but didn't get through, then 2015 came and got a pre-degree form for Adekunle ajasin University located in Ondo. I scaled through the exams, got admitted but I need was to pass Jamb for the same year. I didn't make the cut off.
I was so ashamed of myself but I believed I still had time, so I came up with a lie, what I was going to do was pretend I actually got admitted to the school, then with the money given to me, I would get another Jamb, pass it and be a student...
Unluckily for me, I got found out by my cousin in school who told my family, now they are requesting for my matric number and password, which I don't have. I'm too deep in the lie to say the truth because I know I'm most likely going to be disowned (my dad has made that clear). Now I'm thinking about cutting ties, staying in school and try to come up with some money so I can really be in school and study.. only then can I tell them what happened.. I don't know, I'm pretty confused and would be grateful to any advice, I'm lost but I'm hoping to find my way..

At this my age I dont chase FTC, I hereby pass the FTC to the guy below me.

Just do what is good and chase your happiness. don't let unnecessary things affect you. Your way might not be university, go home and explain, who knows maybe the threat of disowning you or even the actual disowning will set you on the right part of achieving your greatness.

Destiny differs...

Go home, call your parents and explain yourself to them.

It's your life not their lives, I believe you have your dream. Try and talk to your parents about it, I'm sure they will understand even if they get angry because they know if they don't understand their opposition might take you away from them and might lead you astray

I will advice you to be in good term with them even if you want to leave for hustling ground

God will strengthen you

I think the OP needs more advice

All I see is a guy, who's living a life trying to impress his parents

My question is? What exactly do you want to become in life? Because I don't see a university as your point of calling.

Sit down and discuss with your parents. Tell them who you really are and want to be. Stop wasting their money on Jamb and when you finally enter, you graduate with a 3rd class, thereby making issues worse.

Be a man bro. Define yourself to your parents and whoever cares to know. Stop the lies. They won't take you far

Learn to be truthful to your parents, you can talk to your mum if you're scared of your dad. Go home and explain to them.

Don't feel like you're the black sheep cos you can't gain admission in school.

Stay strong

You are obviously a liar, and parents hate liars because a liar is a potential criminal.

Change your ways and they'll grow their love for you.
I won't fall for writeups written to garner sympathy.

The prodigal son' in the bible went back home and was welcomed back with celebration and killing of the 'fattest' cow, unfortunately we are not in 'biblical times' and what you will most likely get is the 'deadliest beating' but trust me when i say going back home and confessing is YOUR ONLY OPTION!!!......... angry

There is no wisdom in living a lie no matter what may be, You tried running from your shadow but it has finally caught up with u. This is about 3 years since you started your crooked ways, how come you still dont have admission?

The sad truth is that you just told your parents and siblings that you are a failure but its never too late to do the right thing, go back home and tell them the truth cos if you dont, you would be the one disowning yourself and no one would ever believe you again, not as if they would after all your gimmicks undecided

The worst move you can make is to cut ties and run off. You need to sit your mum down and tell her what has happened. She can pass the gist to your hardwork of a dad. Going to school is not really what it seems from the outside and you will do well to do something for yourself now. You can pick up a skill that can fetch u money and when you are getting really good at it, you can pick up a jamb form and write the exam even without them finding out. I can bet you, you will pass it without expectations weighing on your shoulders.

Good luck in your future endeavours young man. Don't let other people define you. Introspect and you will find fulfilment everlasting.

You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. What you need most in your life now is the truth about yourself.

First be truthful to yourself, is university education what you really want? Ask God to give you a sense of purpose and self discovery.

Secondly, stop lying to your parents or even people around you, you might never know who is going to save you.

Thirdly, start thinking of what to do to keep you generating income so that you don't look back to your parents for money. You are man enough!

I wish you all the best!

trust me bro i know how it feels.
say no more! oga NoSidonLook is here to give you some "immoral" (call it what you want) but wise advice.

so many folks here saying poo but dont know shit of what you're going through. saying go back to famz and apologize...forget jamb and sit down with yor folks and discuss...blah blah blah

they cant feel the shame in you, neither do they know how your parents or those who know you would react ONLY YOU ONE KNOWS. and i know you are currently feeling the heat of it all.

let's establish the TRUTH firstly, YOU SCREWED UP. its vital you know the weight of your stupidity.

now my short and candid advice to you is to man up and stay in school. (thats wrong, yeah i know) find something doing. when they demand you come home tell them you are doing something there. you can enroll for a tutorial or something.

but the problem is if you are out of cash. then you got to carry your sorry ass up and go find work to do and combine with your tutorial.

believe me they would rake at home and threaten all sorts but they'll get over it TIME HEALS. its better than if you go home. the stigma and all.

its my own advice o. i know say my bad advice. i nor talk say me be good boy before. na ask e ask wey me give am my own as others freely they do too.
