The Egyptian keeper Mohamed El-Shenawy refused his man-of-the-match award against Uruguay because of his faith.

The MOTM award was sponsored by Budweiser which is an alcoholic beverage maker and due to Muslims practise of not taking alcohol, he rejected the award.

El-Shenawy was phenomenal, keeping out Uruguay and even though he was eventually breached, he was responsible for keeping Egypt’s hopes alive.

Egypt aren’t out of it yet with Russia and Saudi Arabia still to play and with news that Mohamed Salah will be fully fit for those games, the Egyptians will feel galvanised to fight till the end.

The award which is shaped like a red goblet clearly connotes what it is representing and El-Shenawy wanted no part of it, rejecting the award when it was presented to him.

Budweiser is one of the main sponsors for the 2018 World Cup in Russia having signed a deal with FIFA as the official alcohol supplier to the tournament.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper is the shot-stopper for Al-Ahly of Egypt and his stock has risen after that first game with many recognising his goalkeeping talent and it’ll be interesting to see what happens if he keeps this up during the competition. There could even be a European move on the cards

www.herald.ng/egypts-goalkeeper-refused-man-of-the-match-award-because-of-muslim-faith/amp/

That was how Yaya Toure was pretending. He made the EPL to change the gifts for MOTM because he would not receive champaign but dude was caught by police for driving in London above the alcohol limit. He lied that someone must have added alcohol to his coke in a party. How can you take coke with alcohol to your mouth and not perceive it even to the extent of going beyond the minimum level? Toure later got an 18-month driving ban.

They're committing a bigger sin by participating in the tournament. Because the tournament gave birth to the award. Confusion of the highest level coupled with narrow-mindedness.

My dear that was never the case. As regards the write up, there is nothing in it that states blacks entered the country through visiting visa hence, the use of Hosts and Guests is improper.

We all know blacks in America got there as a result of slave trade. So, getting rid of them after distorting their communal lives here in Africa should be seen as crime against humanity.
Is slavery also the reason why the African continent is still backward?

Is slavery the reason why politicians are stealing away our future without conscience?

Is slavery the reason why we do not have any world class facilities?

Is it slavery that is making some African run to Europe through the desert?

Is slavery the reason why African nations are lossing their matches in the ongoing world cup?

Blame it on anything you want, truth is they no longer want us. And we need to sit our asses down and build our own continent. Make it a place to be proud of. And we can even enslave them when they come around cool

The moment you start respecting other people's beliefs and faith, that moment you become a real human being.

To think that over a hundred persons liked this silly comment makes it even more worrisome and disgraceful.

Reason why Christianity has turned to a joke becuase most of us are christians by mouth and not by the standard of the bible.

Respect other's faith and beliefs or did the bible not tell you to love your neighbours and not hate?

I know you claim to be a christian but i wont be surprised if you deny being a christian.

He refused to collect an award presented to him by Budweiser - an alcoholic beverage producing company.
Why on earth is he and his th Egyptian team then competing in the same tournament sponsored by the same alcoholic beverage producing company?

Yesterday, I read on the news how the Hisbah police in Zamfara state arrested males and females who were celebrating sallah tohether and were not married. And also the destruction of brothels, hotels and beer joints by the Borno state government some weeks back.
Where does the funding of the Hisbah police come from? State allocation!!! Gathered from proceed of the sale of crude oil and taxes paid by private and multinationals including hotels, brothels, alcohol producing coys and so on.

THAT IS HYPOCRISY!!!!

You surely dont know what hypocrisy stand for. Hypocrisy is when you claim to be a christian but berate other faiths who abhor what the bible also abhor just because their act expose your deficiències as a christian by mouth.

The alcohol company is not the owner of the worldcup, they are too small to pay the bills of fifa.

You need to 1st understand that I am not in support of his actions, only then you can understand by position.

2nd, there's no ban on pple or teams who hold same opinion with the player. The player is just a single individual.

3rd, difference in opinion or position regarding issues is normal in life. It's part of God's design for mankind. This is why God Himself, in His infinite wisdom, created different languages and culture for man. It's therefore not the best course for us to criticize others when they display positions different from what we hold, especially when such position does not directly affect us or hurt us in anyway possible.

Unfortunately, this simple fact of life is very difficult for many to understand. And many war have been fought(including the 1st and 2nd world wars and many many other wars) as a result of the failure to understand this simple concept of life.

Sir the problem is very obvious to understand, that something bad is done in a Muslim country doesn't mean we wouldn't see Muslims engaging in it or Muslims that will refrain from it . Modern Muslims have little to No knowledge of their religion and that is the main "PROBLEM"

But Saudi is the centre of Islam in the world. Saudi basically runs an Islamic government. How come they allow the same things you tag evil? Do you understand Islam more than Saudi rulers?

Could you please enlighten me on why alcohol is bad in itself that it cannot enter the mouth of a Muslim? Why will it be a sin for a Muslim to drink a glass of beer or red wine?
