I think Lagos State should create a Trailer task force as an entity on its own or relegate SARS to handle tbese people. These trailer incidents needs to be put to a stop. We can't be looking our loved ones because of all these rickety and condemned trailers that have no hinges to support the containers that they carry

Things keep repeating itself yet nothing is done about it. It's a pity .

this is the THIRD TIME.... it happens each year... sOMETHING is wrong.

Nothing is wrong. It is what the people want that they are getting. If goverment places a ban on those dead trucks plying our roads, the same people will cry out that their source of livelihood is being taking away.

Instead of thinking about what other solutions might be so this will be avoided in the future, you're here already attaching a superstitious belief to it.

That is how an average Nigerian thinks. You bringing superstition into it means in your mind, you have already concluded no solution can be made so this won't happen in the future again.

Black man, Black sense. smfh.

Where in my write up did i insinuate 'no solution can be made' Mr. Mind Reader? You're just jumping to conclusions in order to sound pseudo-intelligent. So giving the meaning of the name ojuelegba is now being superstituous? Why not proffer your solutions, Albert Einstein?

What would a container-loaded articulated truck be doing on that Bridge for God's sake.
When will the LASG or FG install Truck barriers at the two entry points to that Bridge.
This is just to annoying please.
May the souls of the departed rest in peace.

That bridge needs repairs... Lagos State has slept too much in looking for solution to that bridge. Almost all the railings are off.

They should work on that bridge... Too many accidents.... Everyone should use under the bridge for a while...

Everyone can't use ojuelegba under bridge because the traffic will be crazy, under bridge links to lawanson on d left and yaba to the right or vice versa depending on your location, and it leads to stadium barracks iponri costain iganmu, and also leads to empire and fadeyi link bridge to ikorodu palm groove expressway,
lagos state should only ban articulate vehicles conveying containers, gas tanker and petrol tankers, caterpillar trailers conveyors to ply that bridge. I pass the bridge regularly with blue brt buses from ikorodu to cms. one you are about to climb the bridge, the joints expansion plates on the bridge makes ur vehicle to gallop and if a trailer is loaded it can gallop the carriage away.
and all this trailers are coming from apapa port, wharf aand tincan island port and the link from ijora course way to iponri to ojuelegba linking to ojota linking to lagos ibadan expressway.
I will suggest to the government to enact a laaw for trailers coming from the port to find their way to liverpool and link to mile 2 and link to oshodi to oworo to berger to mowe rather than passing inward to ojuelegba.

Looks like they may have to prevent cargo carrying trailers from using the bridge.

Compel them to use the road beneath the bridge.
Do you know the amount of traffic jam they will cause going under the bridge. We are talking about a lot of trucks here. If there were functional ports in Port Harcourt, Calabar, even Onitsha with the dredging of the Lower Niger. The congestion of Lagos will be a bygone issue, but they are playing politics with it. Let them continue.

The most painful part be say traffic to dey there so if traffic hold cars beside the bridge how will they even know a trailer is on motion over them, to me I guess the traffic light should be removed

In Europe, all their trucks are new or in good road worthy condition. New tires, proper suspension systems, working brakes, good engine condition and not overloaded.

Here, we are so used to bad and damaged vehicles that we think we can call black white.
No matter how you ignore the issue, a bad vehicle is a bad vehicle and it will fall and cause an accident Own up, say it is bad and stop managing it. Accidents like this will just continue to happen until the truck is taken for complete ovehaul and total rebuilding.

as if its only trucks....how many nigerians drive new cars....we import okrika and then dont even go to check up.....because na white people drove....its okay to drive.......our inferiority complex disturbs us any way possible...

we dont cheerish our lifes because whites say we cant do it...and we believe our enemies.....if blacks were in animal kingdom, they would be a extinct species long ago....

Why can't heavy trucks be banned from using the bridge. It is not a difficult thing to do. A barrier should be placed at the entrance to the bridge. angry

They should not even be using that bridge in the first place. They should follow down while cars follow up.

There are no alternative routes, the rail line which is supposed to be used isn't functioning cos some wicked people sabotaged it, you see Ehn if a country would make little sense Logistics and transportation is key. America built a proper rail system in their formation years, sea ports system which would get things across states seamlessly but since it's only Road transportation we know that's the reason why this is still a case, it's not even normal to have a truck in the city metro talkless of it being on a bridge. Mind you transporting via rail is cheaper than using heavy containers so the question is who's working hard not to have the Railway System work? Who owns this haulage companies? How come they let them checkout of the ports?

We have a very senseless government in place. Similar accident occurred a few years ago leaving many dead in its trail.

No remedial, corrective and preventive measures have been taken to prevent a recurrence. No reinforcement, barriers and railings to mitigate the impact should there be a reoccurrence of such.

Safety consciousness is like rocket science to Nigerian leaders and employers.

Such a shame.

Is the government different from the people who allow them to run their affairs

Dangote and the other big companies that are allowed to pack over 50 trucks on that bridge between barracks and Ojuelegba is what is wrong, and, it should be reviewed, I don't think trucks should have anything to do with bridges, not to talk of the hundreds that go over that bridge daily
