His flow is not as tight as the nasty nas days

I’m a 90s hip-hop addict, I grew up on Nas and those from the boom-bap, lyricism & skill era.

Nas’ flow on that album suits the production pattern - I think. I do not think there’s any need to put much depth & skill into unconventional beats. For instance purposes only & not comparison, see Vince Staples ‘Big Fish Theory’ where he experimented with out of the usual instrumentals, his lyrics were of course lost in the process. As far as that album goes, Nas brought a balance to those instrumentals.

Jay-Z’s 4:44 album was OK, the replay value is ‘meh’ and there are no quotables as such. It is an album that goes through a couple listens and gets ditched, no long term value.

Have you listened to Black Thought’s ‘Stream of Thought’? The album is pure flames - lyrics and skill level.

With these albums dropping lately, would it be right to guess Hip-Hop is making a come back, I wonder?
