God forbid idowu go start any match in russia again. ebuehi is miles better offensive and defensive wise.
Don't be surprised to see Idowu in the starting line up come Tuesday.

if i am to Vote ... i will Vote Musa's first goal as the best goal in this tournament so far . cos the ball control , confused both the defenders , the keeper ,his team mate , even the spectators ,and the viewers at home , cos they were expecting a pass . or something else .ITS ONLY ARJEN Robben that has used similar style . what a magnificent goal! grin grin grin

can someone watch it again and come here to analyse that goal
I think the second goal is the beat... Messieque!

I never considered that pk mishap in the first place. Besides combining well with his teammates with simple passes there was nothing outstanding in his wing-back contribution IMO.

He did very well. He is obviously more comfortable bombing forward on the right. Apart from bombing forward which he did at least once. He did everything expected of him and i was very satisfied.

bros you dey talk sometimes like e get special players to you wey we no suppose criticize even when they shun out abysmal perforamnce. idowu with all due respect is the worst 9ja player in russia. dude is too lethargic to my liking and looks confused and scared with or without the ball. as a wingback one of his primary duties is to join the attack when the team is attacking and whip in crosses but i cant remember him crossing the other side of the pitch against croatia and iceland. his play looks too amateurish that sometimes i doubt if he is an european based player. -penalty blunders to happen to the best defenders in the world so an upcoming and promising one as ebuehi should not be an exception. no allow tribalism cloud your sense of reasoning and judgement

Why Ebuehi gifted penalty if better?

No bi wetin people for here take drop Aina claiming he is not good enough because that penalty?

Why people start to dey change mouth after karma catch another player? grin

ChrisKels:
Carl's news just made my day. He should plz shun the world cup fun and get started with his fitness trainer before his team starts gathering for preseason. He's got a big fight in his hand in Rui Patricio but I believe he will be up to it.

I wanna see him fighting it out with the very bests in the EPL come next season. Its a good thing he came back just in time before preseason.

Carl Ikeme in complete Remission... Best news today!! It will take him a long time to get back into competitive football though.

A long time? He's got preseason to start beating himself into shape. Besides he was out for just a season or less.

If you analyze this game closely, Belgium has alot of vulnerabilities. Their defense is bad and their passing is somewhat suspect.

Notin special about Belgium, their group is easy.

If Naija dey their group we are going to qualify

Goodjoe I hail I find your point on the musa iheanacho goal scenario interesting but like the good book says paul plants peter waters who cares as long as souls are won and in this case goal scored.

Forgiveness I can't change your view about francis but note when Enyeama kept in 2002 it was in a meaningless last match against england that nothing was on the line. Vincent as of then was still a raw package who took years to become the legendary goalkeeper that he is. In the early years he wasn't good saving penalties remember how Dele aiyenugba always had to replace him when it came to penalty shootouts in CAF champions league matches. Also he wasn't initially great with crosses but we're still stuck with him even though he was rough around the edges.

Uzoho on the other hand has been thrown into the deep end and to the young man's credit he has so far done exceptionally well. Is it crosses he has done well is it free kicks he has saved alot penalties he will get better besides the ones he conceded can beat any goalkeeper. The only fear I had was if he won't b over whelmed by the huge occasion but apart from the poland match where he showed some jitteriness he has been a calm influence in the defence. Of all the goals we have let in its only one we can blame him for the second English goal in the friendly even that can be excused.

Mark my words francis will be a good servant for many years for the super eagles

On to more important things glad to see the technical crew is showing seriousness by training today we need to start to prepare for the Argentinians. They are desperate wounded animals who will come at us with everything they have got. Hope rohr drills our players to cope with the onslaught. If we are smart and resolute the argentinians vulnerable and there for the taking. May God reward our hardwork. Amen

LET'S GO SUPER EAGLES.

This is one thing we cannot control. The only thing we can control is putting up a great performance against Argentina.

It’s common to rest your stars when qualification is already done and dusted.

Bolowolowo:
Nigeria captain Mikel slams Croatia decision to rest star players

June 22, 2018 6:02pm EDTJune 22, 2018 3:26pm EDT

The Super Eagles could find themselves relying on the Group D leaders - who plan to leave big names out against Iceland - to reach the knockout stages

Nigeria captain John Obi Mikel has called on Croatia to be professional and not rest players against Iceland in a match that could yet decide the Super Eagles' World Cup fate.

Two goals from Ahmed Musa ensured Nigeria remain in the hunt for a place in the knockout stages as they saw off Iceland in Volgograd.

Gernot Rohr's side now know that a victory over Argentina in Saint Petersburg will be enough for them to reach the last 16 for the fourth time in their history.

And though a defeat to the Albiceleste would confirm their elimination, a draw would mean they require Croatia to do them a favour against Iceland.

Croatia have already booked their place in the latter stages of the competition, and as such manager Zlatko Dalic has vowed to leave out some of his star players in a bid to conserve their fitness.

Mikel, though, does not understand the reasoning behind Dalic's decision and feels it is unfair on the rest of the teams in the group.

"I don't think it's the best thing to do," he told Goal. "This is a massive tournament - you can't rest people and give others a chance of qualification.

"They should be professional and play their best team. This is such a big stage that you can't rest players just to help other teams to qualify."

Nigeria have faced Argentina four times in their previous five World Cup appearances, losing on all four occasions, but the form of the South American outfit has raised hopes that the Super Eagles can end that run.

Lionel Messi Argentina Croatia World Cup 2018

Despite counting Lionel Messi among their number, Jorge Sampaoli's side have picked up just one point from their two games thus far, including an embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Croatia on Thursday.

However, Mikel is aware that recording the victory his side require will be no easy task.

"I think they have played well. It's going to be a tough and difficult game for us."

Both Nigeria's clash with Argentina and Iceland's match with Croatia take place simultaneously at 7:00pm BST (2:00pm ET) on Tuesday June 26.

I asked a simple question but a known tribalist like you want to play tribalism card.

I can still remember people here said Ebuehi is better than Aina because of the penalty blunder he caused and that he deserved to be dropped but I am amused same fellows are exonerating Ebuehi for the same blunder. I asked why but you have started saying he is the worst player in Russia without facts. Bhuuuhahaha!

Every player is lethargic to you.

Is that not tribalism? grin

Against Croatia you said Idowu was the worst player, can tell us the reason?

Against Iceland, I can tell all the players were poor in the first half save Uzoho and maybe Victor. Fact

We saw they can to party in the second half. So, how is he the worst player in Russia?

Guys , I didnt watch the game but I am not surprised the 3-5-2 formation we have been clamoring for got us the win instead of playing a one man attack with Ighalo on goal drought. I am also glad Rohr listened to us and the voice of wisdom and moved Mikel to DM which gave him the liberty to express his vision to its fullness.

To be honest Ahmed Musa is not my favourite player and I am still not sold on him even after the 2 goals because I know he is not constant with this impressive showing, however just because he has the momentum I will start him ,henceforth. What I dont understand is why Rohr brought in Ighalo instead of Simmy.

I dont care if this team makes it to semi final I still want Rohr discharged of his duties after the world cup. I want a young African coach who is not afraid to take chances. I mean ,we have to much talent in our hands to be messing with this old dinosaur. I want Siasia back, biko.

I have always said that Idowu is the weakest link in our set up and it infuriates me whenever I see him on the line up...What a weak player.

I was not surprised Omeruo put in a great show, dude has been in terrific form ever since he hot married...Good woman is a blessing to her home.

Balogun is a monster...Nothing more to say.

Ekong has improved on his ball handling,I am happy for him.

Ndidi is yet to do what we have known him for...I want him to explode asap.

I want Iwobi to start in AM not in the wing and I dont know who to drop but I want to see him and Nacho starting.

Great display by the Eagles

Whether the match was meaningless or not, Enyeama showed he had the trait of a great goalkeeper in that particular match. Finito

I am not saying Uzoho is bad but if we see a better goalkeeper than him, it should be a welcome development.

Abi, you no dey pray to get something better than Enyeama?

TheGoodJoe:

I am always up for the better than depending on chance.

The simple question is, who has better abilities and quality to deliver those runs, have skill and also contribute defensively, it is Moses. Then play the better person. Ebuehi is prolific on the right wing back role. Settled.
Have you seen Musa in a SS role? If not, then watch him for Leicester against Barca in the same role. This is no form or moment, it's simply what Musa is capable of.

Put him on the wings and he will run into dead alley as well become susceptible to narrow space when closed down on the wing but in the centre, he's a different beast. His movement, anticipation and awareness are off the chart and the best in the team. And no, Moses nor Iheanacho can't ever replicate such.
