Oga, I am also a Barca and Messi Fan asides being Arsenal.

But Nigeria before any useless club abeg.

COOL10:
. Bros,I am a die hard Messi/Barca fan. In fact I wished for Naija and Argentina to qualify but unfortunately it won't happen cos one of us has to leave 2mao and it definitely won't be Nigeria. I seriously love Messi but he gotta go mehn. My country comes first. It's either kill or be killed and he definitely won't hesitate to score us so why should I be sympathetic towards him? They shot themselves in the foot by not winning their initial games and unfortunately for them, they'll have to rely on us to lose this game. But it won't happen. Nah. We have a huge bone to pick with them and tomorrow we'll attack them with so much anger and precision for the hurt they've caused us in the past years. We'll save compassion for later. WithNaijaIStand.

I understand your positions and I'd criticize me too for feeling that way if I wasn't one already.

I suppose for most Messi fans, the irrationality is born out of the need to see him have one (or many, even) over Ronaldo and cementing his place as the "G.O.A.T" as we call him.

What we actually mean is, while we love the Super Eagles and would want to see us win the game, we'd rather Messi (Argentina) benefits from our loss (if we lose) than any other team/player.

Of course, there are exceptions to my sweeping generalization about Barça fans supporting Messi tomorrow - there are always exceptions to any such rule or assertion, you two being examples. But MOST Nigerian Barça fans want Messi to progress to the next stage, even if it's at our expense, sadly.

All you need do is search out posts by Nigerian 'Messi fans' on social media platforms (Twitter, especially) and the interactions with them/us off the internet. smiley

Again, it's an oddly irrational loyalty. We all know this.

Iheanacho is needed. Against Iceland we finally had decent corners and we all know how deadly he is from free kicks. Do you still want Moses handling our set pieces?
I don't want to see him get close to it again. In fact, he should be warned.

Can you please remind me of any of his deadly freekick that almost led to a goal because I can't remember one?

It was for that reason Etebo took over from him. I guess?

However, I can still remember Victor Moses's cross that found Balogun though he didn't score.

At least, I remembered one or two Victor handled well.

Maybe you watched a different match.

It was Iheanacho who took that corner that found Balogun o

. U're free to believe what you want my brother but I do not agree that Aguero is the most lethal striker presently. It's not possible.

EPL fan boy spotted, players that are new in the scoring game, let them continue for years as far as i am concerned those 2 cannot be compared to aguero, only the English media does such crap.

If I was Gernot Rohr, my team talk tomorrow will be simple and a bit unorthodox.
I'd simply slot in a DVD of Atlanta 96 gold medal match between Ngr/ Arg, let the players see how their predecessors dismantled a star studded Argentina team.
I forsee a scenerio where the players will be buzzing and psyched up to go create their own history. (I can't even imagine the electric atmosphere in camp while the players are watching and screaming at the top of their voice as the goals fly in).
The boys need to know they can do it, their predecessors did it in the past, 7 months ago, they won Argentina.
They must write their own script and play as protagonists.

A well psyched up and buzzing Nigerian team with an extra spring in their legs can certainly tear this fragile Argentine team to pieces in 60 mins.

If they walk into the pitch with fear, respect and honor for Argentina, it will be bye bye to Baghdad.

Tomorrow game is probably the most important game we will b playing under Rohr...Its no myth that our destiny is in our own hands tomorrow.. The round of 16 ticket is ours to lose...

I expect Argentina to come at us with full strength.. They need the win badly than.. They will definitely play an attacking game against us and that's how we will beat them.. Their defence is porous.. compared to theirs, our defence is world class...
I'm sure Sampaoli isn't foolish enough to underrate us... if he decides to go all attacking, their defence will suffer...if he decides to keep the defence tight, they mayn't score quick... Tough choice for him grin ...
However, it's important that our players stay focused . I really hope they aren't over celebrating the Iceland win like some fans are..its not yet over .... Three important things I think the players should do during the game are:

1) Don't show the Argentines too much respect
2) avoid giving away fouls in dangerous areas
3) Avoid this habit of starting the first half sloppily.

Rohr should stick with d formation and lineup we used on Friday though I won't mind Ebuehi starting ahead of Idowu while Moses move to LWB... The midfield trio of Ndidi Etebo and Mikel should be retained. it will be useful in stopping Argentina's dangerous attack.. Iwobi can come in the second half.. Musa and Nacho should continue up front...their pace will be a handful for Argentina's slow defenders. We don't need an Ighalo or Simmy to slow down our counter attacking move abeg... Argentina will surely boss the game like they did in the friendly we played against them, and we must also properly utilise the chances we get..

It's gonna b an exciting game tomorrow and I'm optimistic the eagles will soar....

They should not score first because if they do, expect park the bus and rapid counter attacks. Like you saw Columbia did against Poland.

Mind you i rate Iheanacho than Ighalo and prior to WC am always emphasising the important of Iheanacho in our XI irrespective of any formations due to his goal ratio and conversion, you don't put such player on the bench.

I'm sorry if you don't like Ighalo,no issue cos am agape with your your statement that "you don't want to see Ighalo in the dressing room)

Well is a free world and coming from the same place is not an issue cos nobody accused you of tribalism. It's football talk but we should have a bar by not let emotions override our good and precise analysis.

My post is not about Ighalo vs Iheanacho vs Simy but telling who care to listen that our players deserve little respect and enough of hatred lines in analysing their performance.

Football analysis is different from hate analysis cos you don't want to see him in the dressing room says a lot.

Why will they use messi world cup success against c ronaldo?

Portugal went out of the group stage in the 2014 world cup and they where awful,i didnt remember anybody insulting ronaldo.

Messi lead Argentina to last year world cup final, yes they did not win the cup,all i could remember was people insulting messi because argentina lost in the final as if messi was the only one in the team.

Now everybody is laughing at messi because Argentina will soon be eliminated,No big deal, even maradona says its not the guy fault and he has nothing to proof to anyone,is messi the whole 11 players in the argentina team? i also guess messi is the goal keeper and the defenders who make silly errors?

EPL FAN BOYS hate messi because of what he has done to their team but inside them they know who is the best but they wont admit it.

Argentina team is crappy, even the complete Barcelona team was beaten 4-0 by as roma and messi could not do anything, some days are like that in football.

Up super eagles and we are winning tomorrow.

That's you, if Sturridge sees 10 1v1 he will dispatch at least 8. Costa doesn't see that much, but will never miss when he comes across.

Salah for example sees a lot of chances per game, and the more chances you get, the more you lose.

For some wishing them to win. If they beat us with less than 3 goals margin and Iceland beat croatia with just 1 goal, we will both lose out from second place. So it doesnt make sense praying your country lose because of 1 player.

Infact such person might not progress in Nigeria for betraying the country he or she makes his or her living from.

On point! I agree that Moses should start has a lwb while tyron takes his natural rwb position nothing spoil, would even be better coz Moses can cut into his right stronger foot in attack.
Etebo is the man to close down messi on the ball, because of his balance, I have a feeling messi will turn Ndidi inside out! while mikel intercepts

if we draw by another goal margin, we will also have +0.
