This one that Pks just dey full everywhere.

These players have not used Var to train atall. Asin how to take advantage of the crappy system just yet?

Expect Messi to wana dance rough near our box. He knows we would bring him down and so he gets a freekick. Let's deny him such a golden platter.

I expect us to score first also, else..... We need to bury the game early.

Na today? That rule has been there since I first knew the sport. Away goals rule nko?

somehow:
But that one na rubbish na. i scored 10 and conceded 10, someone that scored 3 and conceded 3 will now lose out? if you're so good, why did you concede 10 na?

Sir let’s not argue about the terminology. What I meant was the number of goals the team has scored in the group stage. Goals for or whatever

Icon4s:

There is nothing like goals aggregate in this type of permutation.

Goals aggregates are used when teams play on home and away knock-out basis.

I want us to win Argentina as the final nail in their coffin

It is imperative now more than ever that we destroy that team and their self esteem so much that their FA will disband the team after this World Cup.

Argentina does not deserve a place in the Round of 16. They have not worked for it or earned it. Just a bunch of overhyped, overpaid, spoilt brats who think everything should be handed to them because they are Argentina

Nigeria will be doing the whole world a favour if we successfully beat that team. It never mattered all this time when they were winning us, but this is the most important game of their lives since these guys began to play together and this is the game to hurt them.

This is the defeat that will stay in their memories forever. And we have been handed the glorious opportunity to inflict this fatal wound. We must not make nonsense of it. There will be no better time

For the last three or so World Cups, at least one great team has crashed out in the group stage of the World Cup. Argentina must be that team this time.

These boys should destroy Argentina, for all of their predecessors who had to taste defeat over the years

And the best thing is, there will be no Enyeama to be following Messi to smile after conceding angry
Sir, yes Sir

. Bros,I am a die hard Messi/Barca fan. In fact I wished for Naija and Argentina to qualify but unfortunately it won't happen cos one of us has to leave 2mao and it definitely won't be Nigeria. I seriously love Messi but he gotta go mehn. My country comes first. It's either kill or be killed and he definitely won't hesitate to score us so why should I be sympathetic towards him? They shot themselves in the foot by not winning their initial games and unfortunately for them, they'll have to rely on us to lose this game. But it won't happen. Nah. We have a huge bone to pick with them and tomorrow we'll attack them with so much anger and precision for the hurt they've caused us in the past years. We'll save compassion for later. Please somebody give this patriot a cool beer.

I understand your positions and I'd criticize me too for feeling that way if I wasn't one already.

I suppose for most Messi fans, the irrationality is born out of the need to see him have one (or many, even) over Ronaldo and cementing his place as the "G.O.A.T" as we call him.

What we actually mean is, while we love the Super Eagles and would want to see us win the game, we'd rather Messi (Argentina) benefits from our loss (if we lose) than any other team/player.

Of course, there are exceptions to my sweeping generalization about Barça fans supporting Messi tomorrow - there are always exceptions to any such rule or assertion, you two being examples. But MOST Nigerian Barça fans want Messi to progress to the next stage, even if it's at our expense, sadly.

All you need do is search out posts by Nigerian 'Messi fans' on social media platforms (Twitter, especially) and the interactions with them/us off the internet. smiley

Again, it's an oddly irrational loyalty. We all know this.

If it were war time, you guys will be lined up and shot in the head.

To beat Argentina tomorrow, we need to take a cue from Croatia..

First Of all we need to do a high press so Argentina doesn't build up play from the back..let them kick the ball in the air which means 50-50 chance to get the ball back and automatically they become less dangerous since most of their strikers are short...

To neutralize messi, you need proper space engineering...never give messi room to run at you from the center and do combination play...we need to crowd that midfield whenever Argentina has possession, this would render messi less effective since he thrives on pocket of space left out by midfielders..Etebo would really have his hands full..its much easier for him to mark messi since he also has a low center of gravity!!!

I hope our players would not be selfish tomorrow and play with each other..its all about the team winning!!!

This is a game I believe we can win...we just need to get our tactics right and the players have to be alert for 90mins..no loosing concentration

I think H2H was used for the last AFCON qualification. We didn't just find ourselves in that situation. And WCQ is organized by FIFA and not CAF. And so FIFA rules and not CAF rules are applied.
The last Afcon qualifications was when we had Egypt in our group. Egypt had drawn us at home and the the calculation stuff started prior to the second leg. I'm very sure the H2H wasn't considered first.

The way these Argentinians are confident that beating us will take them to the round of 16, Somebody should help me tell them that even if they beat us,(Godforbid), they might still not qualify if Iceland beat Croatia with the same margin or better margin. Heard Croatia is resting 10 first team players for d game. So Argentina should just stop all this overconfidence. We will shock them today!!

Scoring first will be top priority for us in today's game. By scoring first, we would put Argentina under immense psychological pressure. Under that pressure, the Argentines would succumb and Sampaoli will have melt down, resulting in tactical decisions that are based on emotion rather than sensibility. This will result in Argentina focusing all their efforts on attack with no attention paid to the back. From there, we hold tight, stay put and exploit their vulnerable defences in a forceful attack or counterattack.

Self-Confessed Fan Of Messi Appointed As Referee For Argentina Vs Nigeria Tie

Nigeria are going to face Argentina tomorrow in their final group D game of the World Cup 2018 in Russia. A game where a win will see them progress regardless of what happens in the other group game between Croatia and Iceland.
Argentina on their part need a win against Nigeria and that will be enough to see them progress from the group if Croatia who are already through to the next round beat Iceland in the other group game. A situation which has made the game against Nigeria more intriguing than it is on paper.
Yesterday, FIFA confirmed the appointment of referee Cuneyt Cakir as centre referee for the game ‎and it has been viewed by many as controversial because the Turkish referee has in the past confessed his love and admiration for Argentina super star forward Lionel Messi.

Cakir described the five time best player in the world as his favourite and has officiated games which has ended in favour of teams of Messi, the most memorable which didn’t go the way of Messi with him in the middle was the UEFA Champions League clash which ended 3-3 between Barcelona and Chelsea with Chelsea progressing and Messi missing a spot kick.

The politics just begun angry FIFA wants her favorite to progress.

Referee To Decide If Super Eagles Captain Mikel Will Play For Nigeria Against Argentina

Nigeria could line up against Argentina without their influential captain John Obi Mikel if centre referee Cuneyt Cakir insist on him not playing with a cast around his wrist.
Mikel suffered a fracture on his wrist in Nigeria’s last game against Iceland and since then has been playing in a cast in the training session of the team as they build up to the game against Argentina tomorrow.
The cast was also seen around his wrist when the team trained this evening and even though coach Gernot Rohr insist that the Tianjin Teda midfielder will play against Argentina during the pre match conference, the final decision will rest on Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir.
Cakir will decide if the cast around the wrist of the Nigerian will be injurious to other players or not. If he rules it injurious then Mikel will have to sit out the game, but if otherwise then Mikel will be free to play per FIFA rules.

If Nigeria play with passion, they will not lose. I hope they get their acts together and give Messi a befitting send-forth gift.

I thought the first match against Croatia was the most important match for the Eagles, I was mad and embarrassed when they performed miserably but seeing the Croatians deal mercilessly with Messi and co made me realized that anything can happen in this world cup.

Mikel and co should play their game, show disrespect to Argentina and send them back to Argentina. If they play badly, Argentina will hurt them so bad. They should not play for a draw. This game is in their hands. At the end of the 90mins, there would not be any excuses.

Finally the Day is upon us

Argentina are like wounded lions and they are going to come at us with everything they've got

Our win against Iceland gave them a lifeline and they will need to beat us with minimum of 3 unreplied goals to stand a chance to qualify.

On our part, our destiny rest squarely in our hands

We need either a scored draw or a win to qualify

Its simple... We have two options before us

We either lie down and take a beating

OR

we stand up to them and match them strength to strength, man to man and outscore them

Watching Iran fight Portugal yesterday and Morocco handle Spain was a joy to behold

Both Spain and Portugal needed the support of the Referee and VAR to snatch a draw from either of Iran and Morocco

Such inspiration,... Such Passion... Such fight is what the Super Eagles must put up today..

May the Good Lord..., the God of our Fathers grant us Victory today

My thoughts exactly with regards to Messi.

The high press is essential for us too we don't want Messi getting penalties or free kicks near our 18. We should know that these players are really good at hood winking referees for fake fouls.

Argentina will also high press us, I am very sure. They will be worried about our fast break. This means we will often use the long ball. Who will win our aerial battles and bully the Argentine CB'S for our fast paced forwards to capitalise on.

My formation 3-5-2

Omeruo - Balogun - Ekong

Mikel
Ndidi - - Etebo
Ebuehi - Moses

Ighalo ----- Musa

With a number of substitute options that excludes Echiejile and Shehu

Sampaoli on Argentina: “Tomorrow, our World Cup begins”
25 June 2018

Under-fire head coach Jorge Sampaoli was almost removed from his position after a reported player mutiny nearly dethroned him from his role at Argentina.

The players’ supposedly asked to manage themselves for their final group game; after a string of questionable decisions and poor results against Iceland (1-1) and Croatia (0-3) see them sit bottom of World Cup Group D.

It is all to play for tomorrow as Argentina take on Nigeria and speaking on the topic, Sampaoli had several things to say:

“We leave behind a particular week, because we are recovering from a losing defeat and that puts us in a position to win at all costs. At the same time, it also depends on the outcome of another match. Argentina's World Cup begins tomorrow - for us it will be the first of 5 finals that could lead us to raise the World Cup.

We will have to play with heart, this is what I am trying to get across to the team. The players who come down on the pitch will have to push themselves to the limit, we have no alternative and I am sure that this will happen. You will see the best version of Argentina. I'm sure of what I'm saying.”
