Ma'am, there are websites, youtube videos and books that would teach you to code, for free.

I learnt html5, css3, JavaScript and jQuery without paying anyone a dime. I don't even work as a programmer, I learnt it for fun.
I have videos tho but sometimes it's just hard to understand

you would have made sense if you posted links to these skills or mentioned the skills themselves. The problem with Nigeria is not skills availability. This is a country with close to 200 million people. We are a consumer economy hence the product is finished before it gets here. The tech you mentioned is still the end product part of it that gets here. You will find sales jobs paying peanuts everywhere.. most businesses are looking to sell these "finished product" that have got no market really. Aside this, we are not embracing technology as fast as we should. The world is talking blockchain, IoT but you can barely find these discussions around in Nigeria. Volkswagen has launched a plant in Rwanda, this means automobile skills will sell.. no more imports from Dubai. If you visit SA, you ll find SA produced cars you find on their road.. BMW has a great market there. In Nigeria, we import cars.. we have mechanics not automobile technicians. I will advice any recent graduate to acquire skills in Data science. These are in hot demand now and in a short time it will extend to Nigeria. However, it is important your skill is certified and globally recognised.

In Nigeria, we also have car assembly plants, just like the car assembly plant launched in Rwanda. sad At the last count, we had the Toyota assembly plant in Lagos, the Innoson assembly plant in Nnewi, the Peugeot assembly plant in Kaduna and the Volkswagen Automobile Group auto assembly factory on Badagry Expressway, Lagos. Stallion Group also assembles Nissan, Hyundai, Ashok-Leyland and IVECO vehicle brands at the same factory. CIG Motors has also started its car assembly plant for Chinese-branded vehicles called GAC in Ojota Lagos, Nigeria.

Blockchain is still a new cryptocurrency technology even in many parts of the world, so it isn't something that can just gain traction easily here. What are the local regulatory policies guiding the trading of bitcoin? None.

ITC skills are important because of its wide applications. undecided But I would advise any young person to think of deploying such skills to worthwhile projects, that actually solve a need. I do not want to see another app for streaming music or videos. We already have enough apps, doing that. Instead, an app promoting healthcare delivery services and agricultural supply chain systems, would make sense in a developing country like our own.

Sent a pm ..
Visit the business section, you will see a thread: How to become a level 2 seller on Fiverr in a month selling as a Nigerian. Go through the first 10 pages, take action. If you have any question then ask on that thread.

This is because I receive lots of emails from nairalanders who need the same information and everything they need is already on that thread.

I am a Computer Science graduate. It is not easy. Two years ago, I taught in a private primary/secondary school. I taught 11 classes. It took up my whole time that I had to resign. I am doing a program with Google and Udacity where I am learning front-end web development. I am also learning how to design with Adobe illustrator. I intend to be a graphic designer/ web programmer.
My company is in need of a good front end developer. Since you are still learning, do know that the need for a front and back end developer is high.

As a system analyst, I will also advise you to learn back end development especially with Java. They are most sought for

Those are the area where power supply is OK. They can leverage on that. Is just that most graduates so much believes in earning monthly salary which won't be enough to them at last.

Life is not bed of roses. Life is not fair to anyone , if it is, we probably not be in Nigeria.

you will always come and defend mediocrity. you have this plant and that plant... how many are functioning at maximum capacity.read through my post and understand my point.. Majority of the cars on Nigerian roads are imported , simple. its not about having this or that,, I never said you did not have it. How many are working at full capacity. Are we supposed to be importing used cars from abroad? if those plants are working at full capacity, wont the level of unemployment reduce by a good number. The steel factory, how about refineries and many I cant even remember now.

[quote author=FunnyDude post=68863820]It is very pathetic to me each time I see different jobs seekers moving in helter-skelter for interview invites that only needs few person to employ. These job seekers spend thousands daily on Transportation in a state like Lagos where there is hike in transport fares. The state of the nation is not helping us rather, this further buttress why "Job Seekers" needs to put their destiny in their hands. Recently, I went to meet a former colleague of mine at Workforce office, the population of job seekers trooping in and out was a hit back to back. This sets of graduates cut across all the disciplines and grades like 1.1, 2.1,2.2 and what not. I wept inside of me,and asked myself; Is this the true purpose of our acquired education? My answer is CAPITAL NO!
Dear Nigerian Graduates,
This is the time to wake up from your slumber. Awaking the spirit of I can do in you. Take your destiny into your hands. Face your worst fear and conquer it for good. We are not to attend Universities, paid fees and be a slave of jobs with our education. I thought they say education is LIGHT.
We have Army of unemployed graduates littering everywhere now. This is no joke. In fact is getting more higher daily with new sets of people joining the already saturated market and THE Universities keeps admitting. Gosh! I feel like dropping right now.
The only solution to this problem bedeviling us as job seekers is to look inwards and be REALISTIC about our life. We are in the IT era where you can learn so much skills and be comfortable with that SKILLS for life. I mean a skill that can generate you 6 figures. You heard me right. 6 freaking figures!!
Make a research with your internet, go to YouTube and learn a hot skills by your research . How can a graduate be driving OKADA in this Internet age WHERE soft skills rules the world.
Don't die in servitude all in the name of I'm a BSc holder and be paid pockets sized sum as salary . The truth is jobs are scarce now! Take your destiny and build it to your taste.
The ball is in your court today. Take Charge!

Oops!
I'm here to make common sense.

With 11 Million jobs lost in the last three years and 6 persons falling into the poverty bracket every minute presently in Nigeria. No basic infrastructure to support businesses with SME's shutting down daily, as to what end would be you opening a business that would most likely not survive the wheather at this time? If you want to run any business, it's advisable not to base it here in naija undecided

Jesus Christ...

I am of the opinion that anyone who is not earning up to N200,000 in Nigeria is below the poverty line. I mean how could anyone survive with less especially when you have kids to feed and send to school?

Another thing Nigerian youths must learn is work ethic. I'm an employer of labour and I tell you some youths can be too annoying, they just work for the sake of working and yet possess a high sense of entitlement without improving anything better than they met them. When you confront them and scold them, they'll tell you 'no be my papa business'. How do you expect an employer to treat you well if you don't care about his business? You don't care but you want to get paid from a business your lackadaisical attitude is helping to destroy?

A change of attitude is needed. Every employed youth should see his job as a training ground or internship where he can acquire the skills to set up his/her own venture. If they don't immerse themselves in their jobs they'll most likely fail when they set up their own. Work ethic is a virtue that grows over time like a habit. You don't learn it in a day.

Having someone like me as a staff will add more value to your company. I have different kinds of experience and skills and most importantly I have the mental, physical and emotional maturity to handle any challenge. All I need is the opportunity to prove myself. How do I send my CV sir ?
I am base in port Harcourt.
Remain Blessed.
