Reminds me of one incident that happened May 24 1997. Till this date I remain confused. I got back from work as usual in Ikotun, Lagos only to find people gather in front of my gate. Others were upstairs at the balcony condoling my landlady. News reached my outlandish self that my landlord had passed on earlier. He died of natural causes in his car.

Strange enough, earlier that morning, he was acting unusual. This man would always call me to assist him open the gate anytime he's going out. That morning he never did that. Dressed in suit he opened the gate himself for the first time ever, had a final look of his compound with his hands around his waist , shook his head, closed the gate and zoomed off. His corpse was brought home later that day. Days later he was buried in that same compound in my presence. I saw the body with my two eyes.

Fast forward to 3 months, I was at a chemist shop buying a drug. The shop happened to be opposite an ashawo house. As I was about paying for my goods, I saw my landlord carrying a prostitute in. I was far away and dumbfounded. I called his name. He looked back and gazed at me with an angry look I've never seen before. Then like a fart in the wind he disappeared into thin air. I was so curious and decided to trail the hoe. She confessed a man fitting my description approached her for an all nighter sex romp. She said she entered her room to change her cloth, get her bags and follow the man home. All this done she came out and her customer was nowhere to be found again. Others complained of hearing someone banging the gates at midnight. The dogs howling and happy for no reason like they've seen a long lost owner. Some even confessed to seeing a bald headed man sitting quietly on that grave at night. For two good years before I finally parked out, I always made sure I get home by 7PM latest , lock all my doors and refuse to be woken by any strange noise until day break.

This happened at a Boys only boarding school. So no one should come here and tell me rubbish because it happened.

There was this boy called Tony who is very good at athletics, so good that he was very popular in the school.

There is another boy called Francis, a stubborn and a trouble-maker; as part of his routine, most times he jumps the school fence on weekends and goes into town to eat a good meal at his aunt's place. Most of his friends encourage him because he always comes back with goodies.

During this period the school was preparing for her inter-house event so there was a time for practice. Tony was the star. Beating other students in all track events. But on this very day, he collapsed while training and everybody panicked. They rushed him to the school clinic but he didn't make it. Come and see the mood in the school, because it was something almost everyone on the field witnessed.

On Sunday night, two days later, some students were in one of the classrooms upstairs, trying to study and at the same time gisting about Tony's sudden death.

Francis has already jumped the fence into the school and was heading back to his dormitory. As he walked he saw the light in the classroom upstairs so he decided to holler at the students there. As he made to climb the stairs he met Tony walking down the stairs. "Hey what's up gee" They shook hands while Tony kept walking. Francis continued up the stairs and entered the class.

He hailed his friends as he entered, but no one even paid attention to him. All faces were sad. "wetin dey do una", i dey greet una no fit answer, abi what is the problem"? "the students looked at one another and realized Francis didn't hear about the news, so one of them asked him, "so you haven't heard what happened on the field on friday"

"how i go hear" replied Francis, "una sabi say i dey enter town for weekend"

more silence as no one was ready to be the one to break the news to him.

"wetin happen na? You guys should talk and stop acting wierd"

One of them said "Tony collapsed on the field and died later at the clinic"

Francis was like "Una dey craze ni? Which kin joke be dis na, abeg if na play make una stop am o! it is too expensive".

They replied, "we are not joking, how we go joke for person death"

Na lie jor !!! he started laughing, and then said "As i dey climb the stairs, no be Tony i just greet now? abi no be from this class him bin come out from?

"The look on the students face was both of shock and disbelief. Suddenly Francis shivered, and then ran from the door and went to stand close to the students. Other students got up and out of fear started screaming. Some started packing their books and bags while others are still in shock.

Come and see scrambling as everyone ran out of the class.

I don't think there've ever been a time when lies were not posted on NL.
You can see that some people believe in the story or believe it does happen even if this one is fake.
All you have to do is focus on the type of stories you love to read on Nairaland.

Happens alot. I remember when i was in primary school, Primary 4 to be exact I usually sat in front close to the class teachers table. I once over heard him telling another colleague of his something that happened when he was in secondary school. His grandmother had come to visit him with sardine and other provisions as she usually did because he was her favourite and they were very close. He got home later during the vacation and was told she had died and was told when she died. He was in disbelief as he said it couldn't be possible as she had come to see him in school and he even had left over provisions and sardine he brought back home from the ones she had come to give him. She died 2 weeks to the time she came to see him, his parents and folks at home didn't believe him until they were able to reach his guardian in school and some of his classmates who confirmed the story as well as the time . The curious thing was this, my teacher was shedding tears as he told this story to his colleague. What do you all make of that? Things happen alot.

but the bible says the dead is gone and have no idea of the happenings in the world of the living.man to die once and after death is judgement

does this mean my late dad might be alive somewhere else
this world is confusing
What that scripture said is that once people die, they don't live to die again even if they reappear as ghosts... they can only vanish. If your late dad dey another place now now, it doesn't mean he has to die again. Talking about judgement, judgment is not immediate. It's for a set time. It's the white throne judgment of all humans where books will be opened. Those who died already have not been judged at all. Judgment is still in the future.
