the meaning of that passage was probably lost on you..God was trying to show peter that none of his creation was/is unclean..that includes man and beast..the jews forbade the eating of some animals due to the mosaic law and also forbade the mingling with uncircumsized gentiles who they also saw as unclean....that is different from reckless slaughtering of wildlife just to make money..
