I hope others are seeing a delivery solution opportunity that is presenting itself here. If it were me and I was minimally employed, I would advertise parts delivery to shops around Lagos. Say if they place their orders with CarQuest by 10AM and is in stock, then you'll guarantee delivery to them anywhere within 100 miles of Carquest before 2PM.

Nothing we can do about that. If this was easy, someone would have done it before us. I fully expect people will be able to find cheaper prices here and there but not consistently. We are offering the best prices we can to our customers after overhead. We do not buy from stores in the USA or look for liquidation specials. We are an actual Carquest distributor on behalf of the manufacturers so we get the lowest prices possible from the manufacturers. We are also working every day to find ways to lower costs but as long as customs and clearing remain what they are in this country, it is what it is.

Obviously, our Carquest brand will be a lot better priced than other brands even as we get all our inventory from the manufacturers. This is also because Carquest is in stock here and we chose to bring in the other brands as needed. If over time, if popularity is enough, we will bring other brands in bulk as well which will lower costs a little more. All we can do is consistently offer everything you need for your car in one spot at reasonable prices with warranties. If someone was providing original parts at a cheaper price consistently, I'd be a lot more worried.

At the end of the day, if someone is getting repair work done with us, I dare them to find a cheaper cost + labor anywhere in the country with warranties. Where we may occasionally fall short on parts pricing, we more than make up for it in labor.

Is N31,970 for an oil change with said Valvoline Synthetic on 2016 Toyota Camry inlcuding all parts, labor, a 30-point inspection and under 30 minutes acceptable?

That same oil change would be N22,845 using Carquest synthetic (which is either valvoline or amalie).

How about N24,115 parts + labor for a front brake job on the same vehicle? Ceramic brakes with a 3 month labor warranty, a 1 year parts warranty and a 30 point inspection?

That's what we are offering. We are not here to compete with the people that occassionally get their hands on cheap product.

Thanks. It's actually more about the power ratings as we will be bringing in our brand more than anything else. I need to go by vehicle models and power ratings. That's actually been the hardest part about stocking inventory. Took about eight months to settle on the first mix of parts we brought it. It's pretty much guesswork since there is no real database of cars registered on the road that is readily accessible.

Carquest batteries come with anywhere from 1-3 year warranties in the US depending on the grade (silver, gold, premium) but for now i think we will be doing 6month -2 year warranties and see if the environment allows us to go longer. Gold batteries top out at about N73,000 though because batteries are classified differently and are expensive to ship.. I don't know that the market can bear that.

In that case, please do note that here they don't make an issue of CCA as they make of AH, although my training tells me that CCA is more important than AH.

Anything from 62AH to 75AH is what to my mind will be liquidated ASAP.

I don’t know the science behind it but it sure worked to start a 5 cylinder engine. I’m a firm believer now. No more need for jumper cables.

For those of us from the USA in particular and foreign countries in general, we know that before Carquest (and the other franchise that you own) will allow you to use their name that there are many things that you've done to their satisfaction at a high level. One of them would be standing behind their products and offerings.

It may take a little bit of time but folks will wake up to the value of warranty and they'll stop comparing your prices to Konganians.

I can see a lot of changes in practices between now and 2020 courtesy of the influx of those with exposure to standard practices from the West.

oh, i believe in warranties, however most suppliers etal in this country do not honour them. you have to be very aggressive invoking cpc etal. read the receipts of just about anything you buy. plenty of disclaimers

the 'educated public' is a very very small subset of the population, or as i put it, the lekki alakowes. everyone else, educated or not just rolls with it.

most businessmen in nigeria are actually hustlers who are simply selling products that 'move'. you find this out quickly when there are service issues.
