The house always wins. Bear it in mind. It is IMPOSSIBLE to beat the machine. It is rigged to make the owners win.

Whenever you are tempted, think about how you'll feel after you lose. That thought will serve as a deterrent. Just try to recreate the feeling of loss. It works.

Forget your losses and move on. You can't get them back.

It's not bad luck. The machines are rigged to make you lose.

You keep going back because like all addicts, you enjoy the thrill that comes from anticipating the result of the matches and races. If you observe carefully, you'll notice that you feel euphoric whenever the dogs/horses are running or the 90 seconds it takes for the match to run its course.
This is the moment your brain is flooded with dopamine which translates in a euphoric feeling.
You are not really chasing money, you are chasing a high.
The feeling of loss is like the opposite of euphoria, it is painful and if you recreate it before you play, you will not want to feel it.

Doing this successfully is hinged on your knowing that the game is rigged and you have no chance of winning.

The day my life become glaring was in 2017, my friend gave me 30000 to hold for him. He was going for a party. Deep in my mind, i was happy. Before he came back the next day, i rushed to bet shop to play virtual. Dear reader, i lost 20000 out of the money. I didnt sleep in the hostel for two days. I slept at the bus stop at my school maingate.

I went back the next day with my remaining 10000 thinking of wining everything back and that was the end. All the money wiped away. Out of shame and embarrassment, i sneaked into the hostel at night few days later after being tired of running. I received the insult of my life that day, but still i never stopped, i continued playing and selling properties.

The way i got the money to pay back, only God will forgive me of that. I had to do what i did because my friend threatened to call my parents. I could not stand that.
I wish my parents were informed then maybe my life would have been much better now.

@op.

Gambling is addictive and once you’ve formed the habit, like any addiction, is hard to break.

You obviously need counselling but can you even afford such services?

I think you’ve reached the stage where you do need some had knocks (not literally). You gamble the way you do because it’s not your money. It’s always been handed over to you on a plate.

Until you sweat (and I mean really sweat) and toil for every Kobo that comes your way, you’ll never appreciate the value of money.

You mentioned your mates have long graduated from university. So you must be 24 / 25 years old or more. You’re no longer a child but an adult, so you need to start taking some responsibility for yourself. Start by moving out of the family home. Look for your own place e.g. a face-me-I-face-you sort of accommodation. Forget about uni and go get yourself a job - and before you say there aren’t any jobs out there, there are. You can work as a labourer on building sites, be a market wheelbarrow pusher, be a pit latrine toilet cleaner, etc.

The point is you need hard grafting work where you scratch very hard for every Kobo to keep a roof over your head and food in your belly. You need to hit rock bottom in order to rise up.

Right now your family and friends are fuelling your addiction by providing your basic needs (food, clothing, shelter). You haven’t suffered. Not really.

As long as they keep giving you money, it’s all easy-come-easy-go for you.

i wish starting over was the only problem i have in my life right now, i would be so much happy.

I litterally have nothing in this life again except family. No good clothes, gadgets, no life plans at my age. Brother virtual has touched the deepest part of my soul. I have no emotions. I get very angry over little things. Nothing to show that i exist. I cant remember the last time my phone rung. All the friends i made in school have all graduated and moved on with their lives. Except for family, dear friend i am alone in this world right now.

Cursed be the day i started virtual gambling. i am ruined.

Don't you worry bro. All will be well i promise you.
How i overcame my gambling addition. I realized that no matter how much you won from bet9ja they'll still collect all from you. This happened two months ago which was June. Asides from staking the world cup large. I was a big psycho. I funded my bet9ja account 20k five good times in a day. The worst mistake was playing France to win argentina 5k. Immediately the game entered which was 2.4 odds that's 12k i kept playing dog. To be honest with you in less than 50minutes i had lost 64 to 70k. Then i kept on funding. My mom gave me 100k to keep for her. I funded it all. In a week i lost about 420k ( A plot of land in Ibeju-lekki). I first deleted my diamondbank mobile app. Went to explain all these to my girlfriend cos she's a church girl. She really helped me out. Now today even common 100naira game dey hard me play. Bro just try and hold on. All will be well. I promise you. Hang on and avoid gamble centres. PS: i still play card and dice cos it's a game of luck and low stakes

Normally people who plays bet have friends who are addicted too. Birds of same feather flock together. Only God will help you out if this addiction. You have to be very disciplined to get back your life together. Or else, I pity you.

Good morning..
Yeah, You can ask your question..
bro i brought it to this thread. please i just want to know how you managed to quit and overcome your addiction. For How long have you stopped playing. Mine is a month plus. Do you still play normal live matches? Or you quit the whole betting thing altogether.

BOBBYNIGUESZ. I have not played virtual for over a month now. My thread really helped me overcome the urge. But i still play normal ticket games. I am beginiing to think that one too is bad. Because today i lost 5k. I think i have to stop both virtual and board games. Were you addicted to virtual or normal games?

I was a big freak of dog race and colour especially. I couldn't live my life without it. Sometimes they'll allow me fund 50k and leave the system with me. The worst thing that can happen is when you boost the account to over 100k that's when you're in the real deal.

Immediately the world cup finished. I still play normal soccer games but i limit it to 200 naira to win above 500k. Atleast that wouldn't touch me rather than losing 100k in less than an hour. I was always in pains when i lose. I felt like taking my life away.

Cheers bro. Glad you controlling it slowly.
Re: .MANMEN by adedelight(m): 12:55pm On Aug 18, 2018
The solution is in Jesus Christ.Go to your room, confess your sons to Him and ask for forgiveness.
Ask Him to break the yoke of addiction over your life because it takes the grace of God to say no to sins(addiction of any form) and you will see yourself set free.
If you do that, take your time to:
1.Develop a relationship with Jesus by studying the Bible and praying at all times for help when you feel like going to gamble
2.Find something to do with your time(going to church, working etc) as idleness will fuel all this urge in you.
3.Decide not to go to any bet shop again in your life.
4.Cut yourself off from friends that stir you up to bet.
5.Have a life goal and think of how betting can hinder you from achieving your life goals.

Dude your mind is too busy. You are worrying, thinking, trying to fight this and that. Relax. Just relax. Sit still for a while and imagine your life in 10 years where you will be.

Do you want to be roaming the streets desolate begging around...begging your peers who are doing well? Do you want your parents to see you as a waste of conception and a lost cause?

You need to discipline yourself and take charge of your life. Stop yourself from entering any betting shop.Make friends with people that will make your life better especially older friends.

Maybe your parents should pay your fees instead of giving you cash for now.

Discipline yourself now to avoid regret in the future.
