Your grievances with South Africa is amusing. The way you always jump to attack that country is something else.

Anyway... They're still the most technologically advanced nation in Africa. We all know thats a fact.

Also... They are topping the African most innovative country.
South Africa has been ranked the most innovative country in Africa, according to the Global Innovation Index 2018. Every year, the Global Innovation Index ranks the Innovation performance of nearly 130 economies around the world. Here are the top ten most innovative countries in Africa according to this report:

1) South Africa
2) Tunisia
3) Mauritius
4) Morocco
5) Kenya
6) Botswana
7) Tanzania
cool Namibia
9) Egypt
10)Rwanda

The Global Innovation Index (GII) provides detailed metrics about the innovation performance of 126 countries which represent 90.8% of the world’s population and 96.3% of global GDP. Its 80 indicators explore a broad vision of innovation, including political environment, education, infrastructure and business sophistication.

The GII 2018 marks the 11th edition of the GII, and the beginning of its second decade providing data and insights gathered from tracking innovation across the globe.

Surprisingly Nigeria and Ethiopia that we are arguing about didn't make the list.

Am shocked at the pace Rwanda is growing.

Was privilege to be there 2014; they have beautiful cities and sightseeing. These was a country at war in 1994.

It seems they've learnt from there mistake.

I'm more surprised Nigeria is not there, with all this tech startups sprouting everywhere.

I'm not surprised to see Rwanda there... Those guys are pursuing technical development as if their lives depends on it.

They have drones for delivering medicine, drones for mapping out agricultural areas, drones for delivering goods.. This days they use drones for almost everything.

Innoson is a PURE ASSEMBLY PLANT.... 70% of its part are imported

Innoson motors design and produces some parts such as the body, dashboard, bumpers, electrical parts, etc of their vehicles. They import the engines, gearbox, chassis with few other parts.

An assembly plant assembles parts that have already being made together. A good example is Peugeot automobile Nigeria, Nissan assembly plant, hyhudia assembly plant in Lagos or even TATA assembly plant.

The difference is clear.PAN or Nissan Nigeria don't design or produce parts here, they just assembly according to specification or how they were taught to put them together.

What they have there are assembled and mostly government owned and government funded.

Nigeria is going into actual production not assembled stuff. Most importantly, we have several private defense industries springing up which is far better.
the bolded literally doesn’t matter, Ethiopia is like the China of Africa their government is effective as F**k they don’t run any state owned enterprise down

Not true.

They don't make tanks or APCs.

We build MRAPs, APCs and light armoured vehicles. We also produce personnel combat gear, boots, bullet proof helmets and bullet proof vests.

We manufacture ships that are up to 62 meters in length, Inshore Patrol Vessels and small boats.

We overhaul helicopters of all types, medium and light lift aircrafts. We produce drones and avionics systems.

We produce radios, ammunition and small arms.

We build helicopter parts and can upgrade our aircrafts, see the Bell 419, A109 and MI series.

MREs are produced in Nigeria.

We run both government and private defence companies.

The Nigerian industry is significantly ahead of Ethiopia.
Did you watch the video at all ?
Henry everything you said about Nigeria is right, except your last and first statements about Ethiopia, I don’t see your argument honestly.

These guys are exporting tanks, APCs and MRAPS to Uganda and other African Union countries, so what do you mean ??

Pls give me a break. With what indices did they arrive at that conclusion. Being in intelligence I know most of these international organizations have narrow objectives. Fact is not all that you read is empirical. You bet the folks that compiled that list have never been to Nigeria or Ethiopia to do detailed analysis of it's industrial sector. A white dude sits in his office and does the bidding of his paymaster to keep black Africa in perpetual subjugation.

If I go by what only our Air Force has accomplished in the past year it trumps the size of whatever innovation has come out of South Africa. Sry I'm not one of those with colonial mentality to swallow hook line and sinker whatever they tell. This is one reason Henry keeps talking about low self esteem which many misunderstand which actually means the average thought process of most Africans is controlled by the Anglo-west alliance.

Many works of Nigerian higher institutions are not even known those int'l bodies that want to tell us who is better among us which of course is their kit and kin. Even Nigeria's informal sector production tops most of those countries you mentioned combined and so it's Ethiopian government controlled firms.

Is tank the only thing we should use for this comparison? Show me any company in Ethiopia that has ever produce a 40m ship (even if it was assembled).

Am always surprise to see Nigerians recognise little effort of other countries but shun theirs.

My guy at this point you’re going far from the discussion, do you know Ethiopia is a landlocked country without any access to the ocean and no existing navy? So why would they venture into that ??

DJIBOUTI— One-hundred twelve Djiboutian soldiers joined the ranks of the Djiboutian Army’s Rapid Intervention Battalion (RIB) following a graduation ceremony, June 28.

During the ceremony, top performing soldiers were recognized, traditional Afar and Somali dances were performed, and Combined Joint Task Force-Horn of Africa (CJTF-HOA) and RIB leaders spoke to the men. U.S. Navy Cmdr. Robert Yovich, CJTF-HOA Director of Future Operations, congratulated the graduates during his remarks.

"This training and collaborative effort only make our bonds stronger; I appreciate your hard work and dedication and I applaud you for this accomplishment." said Yovich.

Soldiers from Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division assigned to CJTF-HOA provided training in U.S. Army basic warrior tasks, U.S. Army combatives, and combat life-saving. Army Staff Sgt. Travis Fort spoke to the RIB soldiers he trained following their culminating exercise.

“Where you are now, are leaps and bounds from where you began.” said Fort, “I encourage you to train on your own and I am proud of every one of you.”

CJTF-HOA’s continued commitment to training and equipping the RIB enables Djibouti’s effectiveness in developing security and stability within its’ borders and East Africa, according to Marine Corps Capt. Aaron Baker, CJTF-HOA Officer in Charge of RIB Operations.

“The development of the Rapid Intervention Battalion (RIB) holds significant strategic value in the long lasting partnership between the U.S. forces and the Djiboutian military.” said Baker.

Set apart from the first training cycle of the RIB, this group included previous graduates instructing alongside U.S. Soldiers.

“The RIB Soldiers are extremely motivated to learn U.S. tactics and techniques.” said Baker, “I have witnessed their Non-Commissioned Officers blossom since the initiation of the RIB and take on additional teaching and instructional procedures.”

The RIB’s mission is to serve as a reactionary force to accomplish specified tasks directed by their higher command in the Djiboutian army. Djiboutian Army Cpt. Omar Ali Hassan, Commanding Officer of the RIB, spoke of his men’s enhanced understanding of that mission.

“The battalion has a better idea of why they are here and through that are more cohesive.” said Hassan, “They are very motivated and looking forward to the rest of their training.”

CJTF-HOA works to facilitate U.S. Africa Command’s programs and activities to support the development of capable, professional partner nation military forces to include Africa Peacekeeping Rapid Response Partnership, a Presidentially-supported initiative to develop the rapid response capabilities of selected African partners and provide the training and equipping for rapid response development, engineering, medical, and command and control.

As much as you hate to hear it, they are far ahead of us. These problem with Sudan is they have been fighting a long war and it's virtually killing every sector of the economy.

I don't hate to hear a fellow African country doing well. The fact is mass producing something which the blue print has been given to you is not an exceptional feat whether it be to you or others big sounding machines like Tanks etc. Designing from scratch and sourcing the know how technology internally that's enterprise and power. Nigeria from the civil war has been building from scratch the critical weapons it needs to prosecute it's wars and wins. Ethiopia with all that copy & produce is now signing a peace deal with Eritrea because it can't win the war and now needs Eritrea to contain Egypt just in case.

If any of these countries fight the scale of wars and insurrection we fight both from powerful foreign and domestic enemies they would have ceased to exist. Give us our due biko!

Well you have a point. But if we are to go with your reasoning, then indices on every topic in the world should be disregarded.

For example every thing we know about Mars is wrong since nobody have actually been there. Also we should throw out all we know about the universe.

More people speak French in Africa than do those in France..... but since We were not counted then we'll disregard that long-standing fact.

A compilation of this magnitude is usually done by people of different race, believes and all that.... There are methodology in getting indexes, if a country feels aggrieved they can always challenge it with their own research.

Nigeria consistently refutes many of those conclusions and for good reason. Btw your basis of argument is flawed. Not surprised. Go and read my post slowly again.

Point is "hardly anything good comes out of Africa or Russia". Pls take time to think before you respond in haste. It's been set that way to sustain a narrative and agenda?

Soldier I haven't recommended any books and won't be recommending for one who thinks he knows too much. Though u're self contradictory regarding books I might add you haven't read half I read in this life and wouldn't have read perhaps until you attain the rank of Colonel.

The last paragraph of your mention is no different from my allusions here and elsewhere that Nigeria has suffered from years of bad leadership. However the matter in question is in reference to Henry's factual claim that Nigeria is significantly ahead of Ethiopia in modern defence industry. These were accomplished under our democrat dispensation especially in the last three years. This is the point. No one denies that had we been practicing democracy since 1960 not even Egypt or Algeria will come close to our heavy equipment holdings. Nigeria has not arrived but it has left. Acknowledge that minimum.
