Not really, not at all in any way.
Both Sudan and Ethiopia poses a more advanced and successful military industrial complex than Nigeria
Not true.

They don't make tanks or APCs.

We build MRAPs, APCs and light armoured vehicles. We also produce personnel combat gear, boots, bullet proof helmets and bullet proof vests.

We manufacture ships that are up to 62 meters in length, Inshore Patrol Vessels and small boats.

We overhaul helicopters of all types, medium and light lift aircrafts. We produce drones and avionics systems.

We produce radios, ammunition and small arms.

We build helicopter parts and can upgrade our aircrafts, see the Bell 419, A109 and MI series.

MREs are produced in Nigeria.

We run both government and private defence companies.

The Nigerian industry is significantly ahead of Ethiopia.

What they have there are assembled and mostly government owned and government funded.

Nigeria is going into actual production not assembled stuff. Most importantly, we have several private defense industries springing up which is far better.

How advanced are we, when we still import spare parts and assemble here in Nigeria ?

During the NADCEL 2018 that was recently completed, proforce MD was mentioning countries where they get there spare parts from.

There’s really nothing to argue here, show me a single facility in Nigeria with a gantry crane that can handle overhaul of tanks.

Just did some quick research I find out that :-

Currently, there are 8 organizations administered by DIS in Ethopia:

Hibret Machine Tools Engineering Complex
Gafat Armament Engineering Complex
Homicho Ammunition Engineering Complex
Bishoftu Motorization Engineering Complex
Dejen Aviation Engineering Complex
Nazareth Canvass and Garment Factory
Zuqualla Steel Rolling Mill

Ethiopia is a well known technology hub in Africa. People are already saying they are the next Japan of Africa if they get their acts together.

in the area of AI, aerospace and agricultural engineering they are doing well.

Ethiopia is currently selling T62 battle tanks to the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) and assembling the T72 and T55.

Ethiopia is also upgrading S-75 Surface to Air Missiles SAMs locally.

They have an apc assembly facilities

They make drones too.

This are hi tech stuffs

T55/62 were high tech in 1970 not 2018. We don't have APC Assembly facilities? Drones? They also once said Nigeria would be a world power by the 21st century.

70-80% of Saab gripen parts are imported.

Most of the parts used to to produce South Africa's attack helicopter were imported.

Almost all countries producing missiles today import most of the parts. We have less than 7 countries that can actually build a missile from scratch without importing parts.

Etc.

Every company start by importing what ever they Dont have and later integrate what is now available.

What matters most is designing what can actually work and deliver as expected.

It is not the singular technology in itself that makes you a technology hub... It is your "ability" to design, produce and manufacture this technology that counts.

Nigeria is doing fine but Ethiopia has been doing what we're doing now a long time ago.

As of now only Ethiopia, Egypt, South Africa and Sudan manufacture or assemble main battle tanks in Africa.

Is tank the only thing we should use for this comparison? Show me any company in Ethiopia that has ever produce a 40m ship (even if it was assembled).

Am always surprise to see Nigerians recognise little effort of other countries but shun theirs.

Nigerians design their APC, MRAP, drones, communication system, automobile, etc. This is completely different from assembling what others designed, produced and even taught you how to put them together.

Is proforce an assembly plant? If yes tell us the original product.

Was the tug boat produced in Nigeria assembled?

Was the 40m ship built too assembled.

Even innoson motors is not an assembly plant despite importing parts from China.

It is your design and that is what matters most.

We recognize Nigeria efforts. But we also recognize other people's efforts too

every nation produce what is important to them. Ethiopia doesn't have a coastline so ships is of no use to them.

Tanks are a very complex piece of engineering.

In the area of civil aviation they are also doing well.

Dude don't be funny.

85% of your APC/ MRAP are imported ! Likewise drones, communication system and automobile cool

Ethiopia is far ahead of us. They lunched there 1st military drone way back 2013.

Don't forget they even trained NAF 1st set of pilots.

The word you are looking for is License Built Equipments by these countries mentioned: Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia & South Africa. That's significantly different from Nigeria that owns intellectual property on what it churns out. Pls let us take into account how a Nations Military Industrial Complex works to understand Henry & Iblawi. Most nations do not have 100% control over the use of what they produce.

Wrong! Depending on what product maybe but to a very large extent INNOSON is a manufacturing industrial company not an assembly plant.

And do you think ships are simple piece of engineering?

You guys should recognise the effort of your country.

The first thing I would like use to address is the difference btw Assembly and production plant.

Bidexiii doesn't know that most of the components used by South African companies are imported from Europe.

You can never design and produce a technology you don't understand or have capability to build but you can assemble it.

Your grievances with South Africa is amusing. The way you always jump to attack that country is something else.

Anyway... They're still the most technologically advanced nation in Africa. We all know thats a fact.

Also... They are topping the African most innovative country.
South Africa has been ranked the most innovative country in Africa, according to the Global Innovation Index 2018. Every year, the Global Innovation Index ranks the Innovation performance of nearly 130 economies around the world. Here are the top ten most innovative countries in Africa according to this report:

1) South Africa
2) Tunisia
3) Mauritius
4) Morocco
5) Kenya
6) Botswana
7) Tanzania
cool Namibia
9) Egypt
10)Rwanda

The Global Innovation Index (GII) provides detailed metrics about the innovation performance of 126 countries which represent 90.8% of the world’s population and 96.3% of global GDP. Its 80 indicators explore a broad vision of innovation, including political environment, education, infrastructure and business sophistication.

The GII 2018 marks the 11th edition of the GII, and the beginning of its second decade providing data and insights gathered from tracking innovation across the globe.

Surprisingly Nigeria and Ethiopia that we are arguing about didn't make the list.
