Go ahead and tell the VO you wrote Toefl, Though your score is below the 80 mark of most schools I think 77 is not that bad. So if you are asked about standardized test then tell him/her you wrote toefl and yes toefl is a standardized test you can only answer no if you were asked if you took the GRE or Gmat quinzypearl:

This is probably one of the best pieces of arvice anyone should pay attention to before coming to the US. Yet if you tell people, it will be as if you are just doing bad bele. Yhe US is NOT an easy place to be. Plan very well before coming. Ideally get the FULL amount of your fees plus housing and feeding. Of course not everyone has the means to do this. Search deeply for scholarshios. Google is your friend In this regard. Study hard for the GRE to get great scores and hopefully a scholarship. Yhe days of coming to the US, finding a job, settling down and getting citizenship are long over. It takes tremendous effort now . Robert6708: |

Bachelor's degree: SAT 1370 GPA 3.62. With a good SAT score (1270 upwards )you could qualify for their Full scholarship. Regarding Graduate scholarships I don't know but you can always check the schools website Glocal1: |

Scholastica16:Stop saying poo , I have seen full funding from Top school (Over 55k$) rejected by that black American lady at US embassy Lagos. It’s not always about funding. If you are unlucky and couldn’t convince the V.O to his/her satisfaction, you will likely be refused. That doesn’t mean that funding isn’t the easiest way to get your visa as that shows you will go for your studies and not run away to hustle cos of lack of school fees. Funding makes everything easy but always prepare well whenever you are appearing before a V.O. |

Scholastica16:Full funding does not guarantee a visa but it definitely makes getting one easier. I have heard a consular officer in the Lagos consulate general say it is rare and surprising for someone on a full scholarship to get denied. |

ghs007:This is the summary of my post and I gave an instance where someone with that could be rejected. If they get the vibe that he or she will be prone to erratic behavior or joining some of these extreme radical terrorist groups. |

quinzypearl:I see. Next time, you should still let him see it and let him know it's the only test required by your department and which was waived. However, the vo was asking for those standardized tests I mentioned. With explanation just like you told me you could have convinced him. |

Ubah1:An example of a super story. Mans stood there, listening to black american lady (as if a Chinese or European will be working as a VO) then knew that the candidate was going to a top school, fully funded. ![]() The emboldened in your post is essentially what I said, but I understand the need retarrds have to speak out of turn. It is in their DNA. |

@ quinzypearl and others, If you're going for grad studies and the vo asks you for a standardized test don't start talking about toefl. The standardized test that they want from grads is gre or gmat. If your program has exception just like the case of quinzpearl, you need to let the vo knows exactly whats going on. I've been seeing many misleading advise flying here lately. Toefl is not a standardized test required for grad admission. It's an English language test, which can be additionally requested from both undergrads and grads. Search on Google or Wikipedia for the list of standardized tests required for graduate schools in U.S, toefl is not among them. Anyone that wants to argue is free to continue arguing with their screen about this. |

Ubah1:Well, I would say everyone is right. Funding increases your chance and it doesn't mean visa approval is certain. The level of studies, type of school or vo perception of you is what matters. I got funded and would only pay $700 out of $18, 000 per yr and still got denied. I went another time and presenting my funding was part of what led to my success. |

jolowizzy11:In your post graduation plans try to mention a big company where you'll work and what you'll do there. something like after graduation I've a higher hand to work here in Nigeria in soso company where I'll be sososo engineer. Make sure u put popular industry oo. it helps sha, that's what I noticed since all the transcript I've been reading sha. |

While filling the DS-160, what is the best response to the question WHY DO YOU THINK YOU WERE DENIED IN YOUR LAST INTERVIEW? Also @ the interview proper, how do one respond to this scary question |
| Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by martAKINOLA(m): 9:46pm On Jul 13, 2018 |
quinzypearl:To me with God with you and this transcript your visa will be approved , u need not tell the VO u wrote any exam since the score isn't impressive. u can say what u said. or just kuku say your admission doesn't require any other test after the evaluation. u could just add it to spice things up but the way u are now u are good to go |
