The Elections have Come and Gone...

A Candidate has being Declared....

But What does Coming Elections hold with this kind of Elections....

30,000 Policemen will not be deployed because Elections will be going on concurrently!!

With What was displayed in Ekiti state, Our Elections might be a Blood bath......

President Buhari has set a very bad template for Elections in Nigeria......

Nigeria needs the Hand of GOD much more than Ever ...

Many are Laughing at Gov. FAYOSE, but if a sitting Governor can be Molested the manner he was, then what befalls the Citizens...

My Advice: Everyone should Get closest to GOD ALMIGHTY, submit totally to HIM, surrender to HIM... That's the only way to Safety now!

Kindly provide evidence he was molested! He was slapped by policemen? What were his security doing? If i support a candidate that lies so transparently, i will rather keep quiet than show the whole world i just comment without thinking

Wow! this is good, I have been thinking that how can a sane mind vote for someone that has stop paying salary since last year October, but on a closer look, I discovered it's some disgruntled elements from the east, not even the concerned people, I don't even know what concern them with Yoruba election.

How can you own several months salary despite Federal government bail out and still have the audacity to campaign, to do what? to continue the suffering? and the annoying part is even the PDP man that's going we don't even know him, he doesn't talk,... nothing, nothing, it's obvious he want to be Fayose puppet.

And to those elements that think that is Fayose that is stopping herdsmen from invading Ekiti, stop thinking with your anus, all other 5 states in south west are own by the APC and their has not been Fulani herdsmen invasion, so their is no point, I know that's their only campaign strategy and it is no longer working.

And to those that still think Buhari won't win 2019 that even up till now their is no candidate from the major opposition party, can u please raise your hand, and now use that hand to knock your head for thinking such nonsense.

Congratulation Fayemi, congratulation Ekiti. you are free from the shackles of a comedian governor and stomach infrastructure agenda.

So all those are dividends of democracy?

Demolition of houses is very necessary if a place is not well-planned and I can say with all certainty that there is not one Nigerian state that is built according to a masterplan.

Fashola demolished houses and businesses, banned Okada and yet gave the dividend of democracy by expanding roads and cleaning up some slums.
Fashola used #2b to import flowers from neighbouring countries.Gov ambode has uprooted all the flowers at the middle of Lagos roads.

massive improvement with 5k and 3k for Every Vote to either pdp or apc respectively

Bro our electioneering process is still very much a work in progress we all know, but trust me when I tell you that without those financial inducements the election would have been a charade.

You and I know how we think as Nigerians, a lot of folks would have chosen to chill at home than come out for the elections. Not the right way to get people out to vote though...but with the hunger in the land its safe to say the strategy was apt.

We'll get there no doubt when money politics stops been a part of our electioneering lexicon. That'll happen when every facet of our national lives has been adequately sorted and the poor would no longer rely on politicians doling out crumbs to buy their votes.

It wasn't rigged.

One rule in politics if you seek to defeat Federal Might, pay all civil servants their salaries and give them bonuses.

Just like Okezie in Abia State under a free and fair election, he will lose since he has vowed never to pay salaries.

If APC induced the people with #20,000 - #50,000 per voter against Okezie the Governor of Abia state, Okezie will lose.

You just said the perfect truth. Last time I checked, Okowa of Delta state is still owing salaries. When election reach they start to run around like chickens.

I think this has sent message to everyone; it is over for PDP in Nigeria, 16 years of looting and backwardness is over.

if we are being sincere with ourselves, we don't expect what took PDP(Obj, Gej) 16 years to destroy to be repair in three years.

IPOB, get this to your thick skull, if u dont support Buhari in 2019, you will never rule Nigeria ,it's for your own benefit because with or without you Buhari will win 2019.

Buhari till 2023, Osinbajo till 2031

lastly, election is not won on Nairaland, it's people that determine election and the bitter truth is most of them are not even on Nairaland.

Congrats to Fayemi. I hope he brings the much needed change and stability to the long suffering people of that state who have been subjected to socio-political trauma in the hands of the ruling PDP who had clearly failed to deliver the dividends of democracy. And I hope it marks the end of Fayose's political career. Such people are not needed in the political space.

.frankly I used to believe Yoruba's ar more intellectually advanced. Wat did u think ekiti politics and elections will bring to Igbo's.ekiti allocations will go to Ebonyi?Fayose will build the 2nd Nigerbring.upgrade Onitsha main market.built inland water ways at oguta.turn Ariara market to Paradise. Bring Enugu coal mines to life again.give IMO people a commercial centre?just name that thing that u think an average igboman stands to gain from ekiti elections .OK.may be ekiti will stop herdsmen manace in Awka and Owerri.you Yoruba's have been rejoicing the coming of ex fayemi as a victory against Igbo's.but I don't yet get it pls

It shows Igbos are great , they always have influence in western election, it started from Lagos politics, just concluded election in Ekiti, two former governors of Anambra Ngige and Obi played roles in both parties APC and PDP, same thing happened in Ondo state election Obi for PDP, Rochas for APC.

Before you quote me, rethink. I'm neither a PDP or APC apologist. I live and work in Ado-Ekiti in one of the Federal Agencies.

The election was free and fair in counting starting from pooling units in my area down to numerous next. BUT the fact still remains that an unpopular party will always be no matter what, believe me or not , 80 percent of APC votes in my area was bought by them. They coerceed the voters with cash, 5k, 7k ..depends on your bargaining power and you have to show the apc agents before you get paid. They had a field day without hindrance from any security agents. Most police vans were seen carrying APC agents with cash for proper and even distribution. In lieu of this all....Take a look at the margin, less than 20k votes which in MY opinion doesn't mean that the winner is popular and acceptable due to the fact that some voters somewhere amounting to that MAY wish to vote for PDP but got denied due to one logistics or other but Ekiti people have spoken and their voice need to be heard.

One thing that I note is that the era of stuffing ballot boxes is over but NEVER can we overcome votes buying and selling because they will always bring policies that we make us dance to their tune.

Once again, I repeat , the votes were counted not just written as some might perceived.

In 2014, a PDP president, Jonathan was in power. Ekiti was ruled by APC. During the election in Ekiti, Jonathan sent massive military presence to Ekiti. Some APC chieftains were arrested a night before the election. Through this little help from the PDP president, PDP won in Ekiti.
In 2018, the president is APC while PDP is ruling Ekiti. Buhari has paid back fayose in the same coin Jonathan paid the APC in 2014. There was huge military presence in Ekiti, PDP chieftains were arrested a night before this election. Now Fayemi and APC are celebrating their victory, but what next...

The drama hasn't come to an end yet.

...Jonathan was voted out of office in 2015 after helping PDP to win Ekiti in 2014.
In the same way, Buhari will be voted out of office in 2019 after helping APC win Ekiti in 2018.

This will still not be the end of this drama.

... After Jonathan lost in 2015, the APC president that took over, appointed Fayemi who lost in Ekiti in 2014 as minister.
By the time buhari lost next year's election, the PDP president that will take over will certainly appoint Prof Eleka or perhaps Fayose as minister.
This is where the pattern will be completed.

Unfortunately, this is the kind of politics we play in Nigeria.
Sadly, This is where we find ourselves.
Good analysis. You will at least use it to console yourself.
