Hello everyone... I have been here for quite a long time reading almost everything been posted here but I never posted anything until today...I got an admission at UMKC(University of Missouri Kansas City) using my school transcript only with an essay I wrote and was admitted for Language Training first stating that student not yet proficient in English before I can apply for my course of choice and go on with it... though I'm graduating from high school July 28th and my interview is on 30th July at Abuja's embassy and waec hasn't released my result yet...so my question is that hope the waec result won't affect me at the embassy that's if is not out by then....secondly graduating July 28th and going to the embassy July 30th won't be a problem to me right as I intend to continue with my studies immediately after graduating from high school..classes starts 20 August.. Please work on this as it will really be of help to me.....thanks so much.

Thursday July 5 , 2018.

I left my hotel (same room i stayed for my last interview) at obalende to the embassy at around 5:30.. Got there around 5:45.. I walked confidently to the crowd.. I am sure they will think dis girl na jjc.. She doesnt know things are tough here, but I actually came to mark my third attendance within the past 7months, my first was Dec 5 then Dec 27.. Those are the days I was carrying Cleveland state university's i20 upandown. .
To kill my moral one girl was asking me some kinda questions like she already knew I be "Customer da da ni".. All my answers were I donno. (someone cannot come and give me bad memories)

By 6am we were asked to come for the security check, I moved quickly to start the line .. After then, they called for 6:30 then I started the line also, cos that is how my spirit leads me.

Got in for biometics was the first and I did it like 5times before it worked. Then I went the start the interview queue waited for like 10mins.. Then the black American lady that did biometrics said somethings.. The CGI girl.. Said I should go and meet her, I was like asking her is it interview.. She was like "yes na what did u come here for " congrats in advance.

She greeted me
My head no quickly booth to reply, so decided not to cos the pace was much already I need to be Real.

Vo: Who is sponsoring you

Me: I got a full tuition waiver with monthly stipends and my mum pays for the rest

Vo: what kinda waiver are u just doing an on-campus job or what

Me : I got a graduate assistantship with tuition waiver (she looked at my i20)

Vo: What does she do

Me: She is a lecturer in the University of ******

Vo: you came here with civil engineering why geoscience now??

Me: I work in the technical department of a road construction company n with my observation, road dont last due to lack of proper soil investigation, this is important to me because i want to consult for the state and federal government projects..

Vo: (look convinced) any test?

Me : yes gre

Vo: let me see

Me i gave her.

Vo: av u travelled out before

No: i had no reason to

She said some things and said congratulations you have been approved with a big smile... I smiled back,I collected my 2 White papers and left like a robot..

(note: it was more like a conversation compared to my previous two experiences...)

Dre are some part I didnt hear her well i asked her politely. like 3-4 times

It was a short conversation but she stood up twice that made it a lil longer than how it looks in the write-up.

Please how can I locate the hotel at obalende , I’m having my interview on ...

Really appreciate your response. Gracias bro.

learner007:

In the final DS-160 that led to my visa approval, I wrote the line below:

"Based on my personal reflection, I guess I was not able to sufficiently demonstrate to the consular officer that I qualified for the class of visa I had applied for. Hence, I was issued a 214B"

The above response was just the absolute truth in my case. It isn't prescriptive, but can only serve as just a little guide. Be creative about your response. May you find FAVOUR!

HI GUYS, silent reader here. Took me a while to post this but still, just want to say a big thank you to you guys for sharing your experiences and also the vetting of proposed transcripts on here. I went for the interview at Abuja on the 30th of June and i was put on Administrative processing. My visa was eventually issued on the 6th of July, about 6 days later.
Transcript:
I was interviewed by the older nice white woman, can't remember the exact window because of tension. I just think i was lucky because it wasn't the younger white woman that had on a sweatshirt and baseball hat. She didn't look nice at all and was dishing out lots of rejections.

Me: Good afternoon madam
VO: Hi good afternoon. Can you hand my your i20 please?
Me: *hands over i20* Here you go
VO: I can see that you want to go to the University of South Carolina. What do you want to study and why did you choose USC?
Me: I am going to USC for my masters degree in Electrical engineering. I decided to go with USC because it was the best fit for my profile. I had targeted Ivy league schools initially but after getting my GRE score, i had to compromise a little and carry out a lot of research on USnews.com and Princeton review for schools that were good enough for my profile and USC seemed like it because of the excellent research facilities in their faculty of computing and electrical engineering.
VO: What year did you finish your BSc.?
Me: 2016
VO: What have you been doing since then?
Me: I have been working in the telecoms industry
VO: What do you plan to do after getting this degree?
Me: Getting this masters degree and the expertise that comes with it will give me an advantage and i will be able to apply for more competitive positions when i am back in Nigeria. I have been able to establish contact and made friends and mentors in my current company and other companies in the telecom industry, I'm confident lots of opportunities brought about by this degree will be waiting for me when i am back in Nigeria. ( I also said something about starting my consultancy firm later in the future)
VO: I can see from your i20 that you were given a research assistantship and partial funding. Do you have the offer letter for the assistantship?
Me: hands over offer letter
VO: Goes through offer letter then types into her computer
VO: Who will take care of the expenses not covered by the funding?
Me: I have been able to save some money and i will be taking care of my travel costs and initial settling in expenses (I am entitled to monthly stipends based on my assistantship). My aunt is my primary sponsor and will take care of the outstanding costs.
VO: Do you have her bank account statement?(I'm surprised she didn't ask what my aunt does or why she was sponsoring me instead of my parents)
Me: Hands over statements (Yes there were actually 2 different accounts, same holder though.)
VO: *goes through first statement* This account does not have up to the amount required by the i20
Me: Yes madam, but there is the statement of the other account owned by my aunty *points out the second bank account statement to her*

VO: Oh i see. This is alright.
VO: Are you married?
Me: No
VO: Okay I will be holding on to your passport and your account statement. We will need to run some checks to verify that these documents are genuine. You do realise that if they are found to be fake, You will be banned from entering the US for 10 years.
Me: Yes the documents are legit.
VO: So I can go ahead and submit them? I will need your permission.
Me: Yes madam, you can go ahead.
VO: *hands me the small white slip, the slip with the pick up addresses and my i20* Here is your i20. You will need to have it on you at the point of entry. Make sure you arrive in the US before your resumption date stated in the i20. Any later date and you won't be allowed entry into the US. Do you have any questions?
Me: No madam, thank you.
VO: Have a good day.

I'm just grateful my interview was not as gruelling as i thought it would be. Best of luck to you guys that have interviews coming up. Cheers!!

Please what are the requirements requested for, so I could get prepared for Tuesday

Thanks, I have mailed the program adviser but he didnt respond.

Recharge your phone, subscribe to international call package and call the director within 2pm Nigerian time to 10pm Nigerian time, you can also call the graduate studies unit as well.

If funding Is your major priority, you can check on other schools as well.

I couldn't even read, I had to skip. I don't want to strain my eyes.

Hello house... Please I have some questions, I was able to secure my form i-20 from lincoln university and lecture is to start on the 15th of next month.
I'm still waiting for my TOEFL result but I'm yet to pay for sevis and book my appointment. Please house I want to know if I can still meet up with that date?...
And also I want to know the steps to booking appointment. and my course is 4 years and my passport expires next year October, hope my passport is valid for visa application because I read it somewhere that your passport's expiry date should be six month ahead of your length of stay. I need advice on how to make things work within this time frame. Please help a sister out. Thanks

He refused to tell us the price per night. That guy is something else. He purposely refused to reply my messages to him here just because I criticized his transcript. It's crazy. From what I know you have to pay $33 per night. That's quite pricey.

hello everyone, in critical scenario where the letter from a bank of sole signatory to a statement of business account of sponsor was not provided, and not included among documents taken along to the embassy, which other available document can be used in lieu of sole signatory to the business account? please your swift responses, experiences, advices, suggestions and recommendations are highly appreciated in advance from anyone, thanks.
