I just checked my application status on the CEAC website and the status reads 'Issued'. I am so happy!!!!! I Thank God and I also thank everyone on his nairaland thread for assisting me on way or the other.
My profile:
First of all, I'm 17 years old.
Graduated High school last year as 3rd best graduating student and I had the best WAEC result last year in my high school( 5 A1s, 2 B2s, and 2 B3s). I took the SAT three times( in JSS2- 1210/2400, in SS2- 1190/1600, and in SS3 1310/1600). No TOEFL.
I got a full ride to attend McNeese State University and a  $10,300 out of about $18,000 to attend UTPB.
I already sent my SAT scores to other schools too but I did not complete the application because I was accepted to McNeese State very early with a scholarship.
My visa application was denied earlier this year. I have to say it was my fault, I was not prepared and I was nervous. I did not give up, I refused to allow a scholarship of over #9,000,000 to go to waste because of a visa. I reapplied and got a date, July 17th, in Abuja. I was the last person to be interviewed that day and trust me almost everybody got denied. A guy that had his undergraduate degree in the US and was going for a master degree at I think Baylor University was even denied. Most Nigerians that even go to the embassy just waste their money applying because they don't even know why they want to travel. I saw a guy that told the consular officer that he does construction work in Nigeria and he wants to go to California for construction ( his explanation didn't make sense at all). The consular officer gave him a second chance but he made matters worse by saying the same thing he said before so he was denied. I was called to window 9, I went with my Dad. I saw a female consular officer with black hair and maybe another consular officer undergoing training.

My interview:
Vo: How old are you?
Me: 17
Vo: Why did you choose McNeese State University?
Me: Aside the fact that I was awarded a full ride scholarship and a spot in the honors college because of my good SAT score, McNeese State University became my first choice after I had a one on one conversation with the director of international programs, Preble Girard ...

Me: With this degree, I will be employable at certain industries in Nigeria like the automobile, aerospace, manufacturing and oil and gas industry.
Vo: What is your SAT score?
Me? 1310. It is 92nd percentile score. I got 700/800 in math, 340/400 in writing and 270/400 in reading.
Vo: Is this the only school you applied to?
Me: No, I started applying to 5 schools but I completed the application to 2 of them.

should I register it even if I do, the documents may not be ready before my next interview. secondly, will it be sufficient to just take pictures of the farm with my mother in it or with me and my mum.

we just started planting. the plantation in my mother's community so there is no land papers yet. the agreement is :since the project is bringing development and work opportunities to their, we only need to pay the community a certain % from the year of harvest and render assistance to school children and the community at large.

yes I think you can try with the pictures. you mentioned somewhere that one of your parents is retiring to the plantation? maybe if you can take an affidavit from them and evidence of their current employment. you'll mostly have to rely on proof of family ties at this point to show your intent to return to Nigeria.

Not sure i have posted on this topic. busy schedules at work, but i tried to read lots of pages here within the past few weeks and i admit i got many useful tips. All of the questions asked have repeatedly featured on this forum. Many thanks to who started this.

i know its part of the house norms to post transcripts so i must do that. but let me relax a little. my head is still banging from the short overnight sleep and increased heart beat for a larger part of the day.

I will edit this shortly but before that, many thanks to walspring, he helped with my sevis payment when many of my padi in yankee were forming busy for me. Doubted the dude first sha ooo but i use one mind carry am.

Agribusiness is getting more focus from the government noting our dwindling revenue from oil and gas., everyone is looking at diversifying our economy and the only viable option is agric. So i believe with the degree i will be able to contribute to the ongoing development in the country on my return. (then i got that conviction i was desperately looking for). Additional information

From my experience. I noticed the following
1. For study visa, there is no point applying for visa when you cannot reasonably convince yourself to align the course benefits to what you are doing now/in the past, what you intend to do, how these somehow relates to your home country and how you intend to pay for it. Mind you i got admitted last year to some universities but I did not bother apply for visa when i honestly know i cannot fund it. I could have ruined my chances if i had multiple denied applications in the past. In my opinion, Visas are never strictly by luck but 90% Merit and probably 10% luck.
2. Secondly, be real. Once you can handle my point one, just flow naturally with the V.O and not cram a rehersed transcript. i overheard someone’s interview and it sounded to me like the person crammed a written transcript. I don’t know if he got blue or white but i don’t think he was real or genuine.
3. People should understand that the touts at the car park has nothing to offer. I honestly don’t know why they have not been chased away. Charging to staple what its not needed.
4. If you are driving down, you will not pass through walter carrington drive, just get to one bus stop they call checking point or so or ask questions. There is a garage where you can park for 500 and trek down some few meters.
5. Dress to reflect who you are. I dressed like a banker and looked like one. No one could have doubted my profession.
6. Look innocent. My wife was surprised till today why he didn’t even ask of our marriage certificates despite the fact that her passport is still in her fathers name. I feel we showed love, hugging and holding hands even before it got to our turn. so we genuinely looked like a married couple even without saying.
7. Find what kills your nervousness and boost your confidence. For me it is good looks, sharp wears, nice haircut and big smile. it works for me most of the times
8. Above all. GOD for favor and good luck… Another VO could have looked at our case like we might not want to return since we would likely give birth and start family in the USA but God gave us that favor to make him think otherwise. And truly we have intent of returning.

Calm Down Man I never mocked you. I just thought it was funny in a good way and not the way you are thinking. I didn't get any funding, I didn't mention anything like funding during my interview. Just think about it, would stating it add to your case or cause problems? The VO will surely see it on your I-20 and I don't think you have to state it. It's my personal opinion though.

While on the job, I learned some programming skills online ( Python and Matlab) and also did a course in Project Management to better equip myself for graduate studies while preparing to take the GRE and TOEFL. As a GIS analyst, certain skills are required like problem solving skills, project management skills and programming skills.
VO: What is your intended job after graduation?
Me: (smiling) I intend to enter the GIS field as a high level specialist in a reputable organization and make significant contributions to projects requiring the applications of GIS 'especially' in the environmental sector of Nigeria. Projects such as: environmental resource inventory - GIS is used to carry out rangeland surveys, coastal zone resource surveys; environmental impact assessment - GIS is used for route selection of roads and pipelines, oil field development, mines and quarries, agric development; water resources - since water is one of the main constituent of the environment, GIS helps in analysing the geographical distribution of water resources; environmental risk hazard analysis...(she cut me off)
VO: Who is paying for your studies?
Me: I received a scholarship after my I20 was sent (showed scholarship letter)
VO: while reading the letter...what do your parents do? (and I also have family funds
Me: My parents are both in academia, my Father is a Professor (showed SOA)

VO: Do you have any children?
Me: No ma'am
VO: Are you married?
Me: No ma'am
VO: You qualify for a Visa ........
Me: Thank you ma'am with a smile.

*It was more like a conversation, I was relaxed, smiling and I think demonstrating.
When I entered the Visa hall, I felt normal, didn't feel tensed one bit... honestly. I saw the dark fat lady and as usual, she gave the first person a blue paper. Though when the VO that interviewed me gave the first person a blue paper, my heart skipped. But then, my consolation was it is a case by case ish.
All the while, she kept looking at her system but looked at me a bit when she asked my plans after graduation.

God's favor saw me through honestly.
It's a combination of prayers and preparations.

Visa approved 7am Lagos July 18

Stayed at Bayland hotel Obalende overnight.
Left for US embassy around 5:30, took me less than 15mins to arrive there via keke Napep. I was advised by the keke napep man to keep my document at the back of the napep so that the police doing stop and search won't extort money off me.
After the routine check at the embassy; the business of the day.

VO: Good morning

VO: Where are you going?
Me: I will be heading to Texas for my masters degree at Texas A&M university, Kingsville.
VO: how many school did you apply to?
Me: 4 schools
VO: Mention them and How many of them reject your application.
Me: SIUE,Tamuk,Utep,USf. Got a reject from USF
VO: why did you choose Tamuk over the other two?
ME: the department of mechanical engineering offer concentration in renewable energy which aligns with my career goal, I want to be an expatriate in renewable energy as we are short of expatriate in this field in Nigeria. They also offer me a scholarship to offset the cost of attendance.
VO: did you write any test?
Me: Yes
VO: which of the tests?
Me: GRE, TOefl
VO: what's your qualification and what year?
Me: bachelor of engineering in mechanical engineering from University of ilorin 2016.
VO: you went for your NYSC right, what have you been doing?
Me: I was retain as an energy and exergy analyst
VO: what's exergy?
Me: exergy analysis is use in determining the quality of energy use. It's also the amount of energy directed towards useful work.
VO: what's the name of the company and what do they do?
Me: mentioned the name, we produce fertilizers for the IDP.
VO: what's your plan after MSC
Me: I will be taking a job as research engineer at my alma mater where I will also double as a junior lecturer.
VO: You want to go into research?
Me: Yes
VO: are you married?
Me: Nope
VO: kids? He smiled
Me: smiled back No
VO: Have you travelled out of Nigeria ?
Me: No
VO: who is paying for the rest of the fee.
Me: My uncle
VO: are you with the statement of account ?
Me: Yes, should I bring it out? He nods in response while typing. Brought it out from the official enveloped it came in while I flash the envelope to his face.
VO: looked through it and returned the statement of account, my i20 and the white paper with the pick up details. Keep the i20 and other document as you will be need them at the POE.........
Me: with huge smile. Enjoy your day.

I have been following this thread since February 2017: it has been an amazing experience on here. I hope someone have one or two things to learn from this.
Note:
I am not one of the best English speaker but I was able to articulate my point and made them brief since I know my weak point(still working on that).
Dress: brown pant and shirt while I wore a gray lonsdale jacket coz of the rain.
After my non stellar Gre score as a result of stress from work during NYSC I had to settle for the 4schools.
Summon the confidence and make your point brief but ensure it answers the question been ask.

To the gurus on here. Thanks for taking your time to scrutinize transcript on here despite your busy schedules. I fed on this page every day for the last couple of months(after work)

Calm Down Man I never mocked you. I just thought it was funny in a good way and not the way you are thinking. I didn't get any funding, I didn't mention anything like funding during my interview. Just think about it, would stating it add to your case or cause problems? The VO will surely see it on your I-20 and I don't think you have to state it. It's my personal opinion though.
