[Husky14] Good day all, Initially, I wanted to post my Transcript when I collect my passport at my preferred collection centre, but the thought that some fellows here might have visa appointment(and can equally learn from my experience) before I finally get my passport has propelled me to post it now. Also, since my status has changed from 'Administrative Processing' to 'Issued' leaves me with little need for worries. I was among the last ten persons that were interviewed that day so you could imagine the kind of patience that was displayed that day. My Visa Transcript on Thursday at US Embassy Abuja. Was called to Window 9 VO: Pass me your passport and i-20, fast please Me: I passed them VO: How did you hear about this school? Me: I got to know about Michigan Tech University when I was researching on top chemical engineering schools with research area on membrane separation technology She was busy looking at my i-20, and immediately raised her face and said to me"wow..you are going full scholarship!" I smiled back blushingly. VO: How did you get it? Me: I had Skype Interview with my potential supervisor after which he recommended me to graduate committee for consideration VO: Can I see your offer letter? Me: I took my time and found it in my file and gave it to her She read it for a while and continued.. VO: How many schools did you apply to? Me: I also applied to University of Texas, Austin and Auburn University, Alabama VO: How many admits? Me: This is the only admit I got VO: Where did you do your Master's? Me: I am interested in Research that was why I opted for Direct PhD VO: What will you be specialising on? Me: I will be specialising on membrane separation technology, we will be researching on the use of membrane in treatment of water and industrial wastewater, and also for gas separation. VO: The two other schools you applied were they Masters or PhD? Me: I applied for PhD in all of them VO: Do you have any family in the US? Me: Not yet VO: What will you do with this degree? Me: On completion of my program, I will have equipped myself with research expertise and necessary knowledge that will enable contribute to evolution of Engineering in Nigeria. It will also make me more productive when I return to lecture in Unizik. It seemed she asked another question but I didn't hear that......she typed for a while and told me something I didn't hear completely, ".......... pick up your passport after 4 working days, congratulations and be careful..."She gave me the white paper and my i-20.. More grace to those about to go for their appointments.. Thanks so much to everyone who has posted or commented on this thread; your inputs served me greatly during my preparations. I am most grateful [Hello, Pls how can I get in touch with you bro.I am also going to Michigan Tech this fall] |

sheke01:Visa approved today 3/08/2018 at Walter Carrington by a white lady at window 3. I was previously denied on 13/06/2018 by the notorious black lady. My General profile: Am quite young (less than 25), I wrote GRE twice and TOEFL and got good scores, I applied to 4 schools. I was going for masters in information systems. My UG was in Mechanical Engineering Visa delayed transcript Interview: I was the second person she interviewed after denying the first guy. VO: Pass me your passport and i20 Sheke01: I passed it VO: How did you know about Cleveland State University? Sheke01: I got to know about cleveland state university from professor Matos Victor, a professor at CSU. I studied his works during my android programming certification program. She type for a while and looked up VO: Did you apply to other schools? Sheke: Yes, I applied to 3 other schools VO: Name them Sheke01: Arizona state University Tempe, University of texas elpaso, University of North Carolina Charlotte. She didn't ask about admits and rejects. She typed for a while again, looked up and asked VO: Who's sponsoring you? Sheke01: My mum VO: What does she do? Sheke01: She is a successful business woman. She is a major distributor of Dangote products. She typed for a while and said am sorry, you are not qualified Visa approval transcript VO: Why this course? Sheke01: I've been an IT professional for close to 3years. This course will consolidate on the knowledge I've gained from online certification courses and on the job trainings that I've had. I'll be receiving advanced knowledge on encryption, handshake protocol, firewalls security, brute force attack, distributed denial of service and also advanced knowledge on object oriented programming like spring framework, reactor, ORMLite, Java JDBC. Also I'll be receiving a CEH certification at the end of this program. All this would make me an all round IT professional so that I'll be able to take up Jobs with IT giants like Interswitch, google, microsoft, Andela and Cisco upon my return to the country. VO: Did you apply to other schools: Sheke01: Yes, I applied to three other schools. VO: Name them? Sheke01: Arizona state University Tempe, University of texas elpaso, University of North Carolina Charlotte VO: Why Cleveland State University? Sheke01: I applied to Cleveland state University because they offer a concentration in Information Security. This is an area of my programming that I really want to improve on. Also at Cleveland state university is will have access to graphic processing units for brute force attack simulations and a wide range of cloud computing infrastructure for cloud computing. Also the program offers interdisciplinary courses like emerging technology, project management and scheduling and lots of other courses that are beneficial to an IT professional. VO: Did you take any test? Sheke01: Yes, I took GRE twice and I took TOEFL VO: What are your scores? Sheke01: I had 305 the first time and 318 the second time. I had 97 in TOEFL VO: Who's your sponsor: Sheke01: My mum VO: What does she do? Sheke01: She is a BIG business woman. She is a major distributor of Dangote products. VO: Do you have her statement of account? Sheke01: Yes, I have 2 different account statements.....Then I passed them to her She looked at the one on top for a while. She began to type for a period. Then she said VO: What's your mum's name? Sheke01: I told her She began to type again. Even though the balance on the statement exceeds the required amount on my i20, I had to inform her again that there's a second statement behind that one o. She mumbled that she was not interested in it. I said no problem. After typing for a long while, she said VO: I can't see your Sevis fee payment Sheke01: I passed my Sevis fee confirmation along with my passport and i20. It's there with you VO: I know but it's not coming up on the system I decided to shut up at this point o. Since she is talking about sevis, she want to approve me o. Let me not use my mouth and talk rubbish at this point o. She typed and typed and I waited. Next thing I heard was, " I will be approving your visa, pick it up at Isolo in 3 working days time. I just freezed. I couldn't even hide my white paper in my envelope and those military women outside hustled money from me which I happily gave them. And that was how my dream became a reality. N/B: It was God all the way. Though I played my own part but God favored me today. I prayed well and i was singing my "oh come to the throne of Grace" on the line today. Am successfully switching to Information systems from Mechanical Engineering without having to answer the dreaded "Why are you switching" question. I wore an Akpuoche like native for my interview today after being delayed wearing a suit. Don't let anybody deter you from achieving your dream. If I can do this, you can too |

sheke01:You were more prepared in your second interview. Your answers were very personal and very intelligent, that's how we tell people here to prepare for their interview. Generic answers aren't good enough. That guy who wants to study computer stuff can learn from this. Congrats! I wish you all the best in America. |

Brothers and Sisters, finally I received my passport with F-1 visa on it. Believe me, it wasn’t easy, but I give God all the Glory. After fasting, praising and praying to God for 2 weeks, I went for the interview on 16th of July, 2018 at the US embassy in Abuja. Time allotted to me was 7.30am but I was there before 7am. After all the security check, I took my time, used the restroom before going in . After the biometrics, I joined the queue. I was interviewed by the “not too young lady”, and she was so nice to me. See my Transcript below:Me: Good morning Ma VO: Good morning, can I have your passport and I-20. Me: Brought it out and passed it to her VO: I can see you are going to Prairie View A & M University? Me: Yes Ma VO: I can see you are going to study Engineering? Me: Yes Ma, with concentration in Environmental Engineering VO: why Environmental Engineering? Me: Because Environment is the only life support system given to mankind by the creature. I am from the Niger Delta region where we have a lot of oil spills due to oil exploration and exploitation. Currently, we have black soot problem all over the city. I studied Agricultural Engineering in my ist degree and it helped me to understand the concept and importance of the environment. Courses like Land use, land reclamation, land reuse, salination, and soil conservation are all environmental related courses of agricultural engineering. So I am going to learn how to use engineering principles in solving environmental challenges. Globally, the world has shifted… (VO cuts in, you don’t need to tell me much about the environment, I know it all). That time I know say wetin I talk make sense sha… ![]() VO: When did you graduate from the University? Me: December 2015. After that, I went for one year NYSC from May 2016 to April 2017, after that I started work with XYZ Company from May 2017 up to date, there I am in charge of the Environmental Impact Assessment, I supervise on-going projects awarded to the company, I write milestone report, I am in charge of Environmental researches and also I supervise erosion and flood-affected sites. The woman was nodding and typing… VO: What were you doing before going for your NYSC? Me: I was doing a volunteer work at my Uncle’s organization at XYZ Company VO: Do you mean that you finished your NYSC in April 2017 and immediately you got a job in May, 2017. Me: Yes ma, what happened was that doing my Volunteer work at my Uncle’s organization, I met the MD of the Company I’m currently working with and he asked me to resume work with them after my NYSC. She was busy typing o, and I was busy calling on God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob to come to my rescue. VO: How many Schools did you apply to? Me: 4, Texas A & M, Louisiana University, Temple University and Prairie A & M University. VO: Why PVAMU? Me: My undergraduate supervisor who was my project supervisor did a research in the University so he strongly recommended the school to me. VO: Did you write GRE? Me: No ma, It was waived as per initial requirement, but the school said I will write it in my first semester because they use to save it in their database. She nodded her head. I was still calling on the Holy Spirit… VO: Who is so so person (that’s the name of my sponsor) Me: He’s my uncle. VO: What does he do? Me: He's a civil engineer, and works with the .... company VO: Can I see his bank statement. Me: I passed it to her; the bank statement has a closing balance of over $60k. Just about 5lines of 1page. VO: We normally require 6months bank statement, but what you have here is 3months. She brought out yellow paper, checked that I should submit my International passport, 6+ months bank statement of the person paying and letter of support to DHL office she circled. She continued, if found fraudulent, you will be banned from entering the US for 10years. She said I will be placed on AP. Me: In affirmation, yes ma. And that was it o. I left happy, with a smiling face, at least en better pass blue paper… lol I flew back to Port Harcourt that evening. I submitted the required documents at Port Harcourt DHL on the 17th July, it got to the embassy on the 18th July, my case was updated on the 20th of July, 25th of July, and finally 1st of August and it was issued on the 2nd of August, and today the 3rd of August, I picked up my passport. Brothers and sisters, It’s not easy to be placed on AP for over two weeks o , High BP fit catch person o… lolIT WAS GOD WHO DID IT. I GIVE HIM ALL THE GLORY. Special thanks to the wonderful people on this platform. Blessings!!! Thank you osiokoye, lalahhh, for your encouragement and prayers; judgepelumi, I pray they issue yours soon. |
