Well stated.
Yet they had refineries that aren't even working and refused to privatised them. And they didn't equally create an enabling environments for private individuals to venture into.

Unless dangote refinery built in heaven but as for the one in lekki free trade zone, ibeju lekki is still under piling and may not operate in the next 7 year because i work there.

It is a win for some of the refineries to shut down, no more fighting environmentalist, most of the refineries would be stripped down and shipped as replacement/servicing parts to be used for Dangote Refinery.
I doubt, if any nation in Europe has made building a refinery a top priority, they are embracing a new future of zero or low carbon emission, so the gradual migration away from fossil fuel technology.

That's one angle....the other angle is the revenue that they make from selling us the finished product....Do you know what impact it will have on their businesses when that stops coming in....that's a crisis situation

Another consequence of this refinery is the strengthening of the Naira, which will diminish the investment power of their currencies in our economy and the enormous business advantage that it gives them.....

Threat or no threat, we want the best for our dear country..I really don't know why a country in which its politicians promised to diversify the economy is still building a local refinery at this time and age...the world is moving on from oil and we are laying our foundation on that...

What about the possibilities of importing crude oil to be refined here so we can start making a more robust economy by exporting refined products to othe countries.

Diversification of the economy has everything to do with industrialization. Building the refineries might not even be for our crude oil.

I'm not against building a refinery,I am only against the timing...like why did it take us this long to get to this level...so many countries passed this stage 40years ago

I'd say political instabilities.

Truth be told, our so called politicians never wanted nor want things to work here.

The level of sabotage can never be over emphasised

I doubt pdp will let dis project see the light of day if they take over power in 2019. An oil refinery is like solving a quarter of our problems... More forex to save, no more subsidy etc..

The viability of the refinery business would hopefully force others to build something like this.

That will finally and truly mark the end of fuel subsidy and have a good domino effect on the country.

Small small we will get there. All that remains now is for all corrupt politicians to be killed if they refuse to die on their own.

Goodnews to Nigerians, bad news to independent oil marketers and to all that is feeding fat on Nigerians.

If this is happening in a regime of currupt president the fuel importers would have bribed him to stop dangote.

Mind you you dangote might decide not to buy crude oil from Nigeria, he is a business man and can source raw material wherever he fills like.
