Thank you for posting your transcript.

You where truly divinely favoured

Another VO would have rejected the application but she still told you to go send it, woooow

Congratulations in advance!

okpaandcoke:
Hello Everyone.
First i want to say thanks, learnt alot from this platform and have been following this thread from Part 4
Any way i had my interview today and just want to share. Who knows, someone might learn something helpful.

before i start, kindly note the following. 1) I am 6 months pregnant 2) Ive never been to the US (applied some years ago but was rejected)
3) I was divinely favored by God in the sight of the VO (sisters believe me, if youre going for am interview this period, you soo need it) but i was just careless with my preparation

Vo: Hello Goodmorning
Me: Hi
Vo: Can i have your passport
i pass my new passport but quickly say
Me: hello, i actually applied for a visa few years ago with a different surname because i was married, i have my old passport with me, but now my new passport bears a different name cos am now married.
Vo: That ok but give me your old passport too let me confirm everything is ok on our system(i then passed the old on.)
VO: How long have you been married
me: We got married last year
Vo: what do you do and where do you work
me: I do ..... then i explain while she looks at the computer typing non-stop (looks at me intermitently)
vo: What does your husband do and where does he work
me: He does...
vo: I can see youre going to houston.
vo: Is your husband travling with you
me: he dosent have a visa but he will love to plus travel with me plus hez really busy at work, but my mum does have a visa so she can travel with me.

vo: Why are you going to houston
me: I actually, am going on medical reasons, we are expecting our first baby and would love to have him/her in US
vo: (looks at me) and says, do you have an idea what it costs
me: Yes, actually i do have a budget sheet
vo: can i see (i pass it over)
vo: can i see your account statement?(i pass it over to her)
Vo: the the amount in this statement is below your budget do you have sufficient money for the trip
me: yes this is just the statement that shows the salary account of hubby, he earn... and i earn...
vo: can you give the statement the supasses the budget
me: yes of course but if you have a computer i can login to the joint account and show you
Vo: no we will need the hard copy.
vo: Let me tell you something, there is abosolutely nothing wrong with seeking medical care in the US, all we want to know is that you can pay your bill
Vo: so i not deny you visa but i will need to see the requested statement (then she passes over a yellow sheet) and says, print your compete statement and send it to the address on the sheet and we will issue you a visa.
me: Thank you ma
vo: Please not that what you provide will be verified so dont do anything fraudulent
me: Thank you ma.

Now before i am totally crucified, i know its my carelessness that cause that and am resending the statement hoping i will get my passport with the visa in the shorted time.

Wishing everyone yet to get her visa Gods favour

Hi

I gave birth in LA... I don't think we have any San Francisco mama. You can search for hospitals in SF and call them to get information on the cost implications for self paying patients.

I researched on SF, very expensive.
Which hospital/doctor you used in LA?
St.Francis was it in Lynwood?

Thanks

Sorry for question out of context. When you arrived in Houston and how was POE interview?
Is Houston easy POE or they do send people back?

Thanks

Houston POE wasn’t bad at all, In fact, it was the other way round- they were very nice and attended to me quickly. Now I don’t know if it was because I was heavily pregnant and was traveling with my toddler alone.

I was only asked where I was going to stay, how much I had on me and he added that he hoped my husband was coming to help me out.

I declared I had over 10K and was directed to somewhere to fill out forms. They asked me what foodstuff I had and I said just the regular Nigerian food, nothing spectacular...They got someone to help me with my luggage and they wished me well.

It was very short. Other pregnant women were still on the queue but I was singly directed to an officer who wasn’t attending to anyone to attend to me. After filling out the forms, he helped me wheel my luggage out to where I could find my Aunt. I guess he probably pitied me wheeling my luggage and coming back to wheel my son’s stroller.

Hello People, is it a requirement to declare funds above 10000 USD when travelling abroad from a Nigerian airport? Kindly help by clarifying this. Thank you

Congratulations on the arrival of your baby.

Your husband needs to go get the notarisation done at the embassy asap and send to you via DHL, but appointment is needed, here is the link: https://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/

here is the link for the form he will take to the embassy: https://eforms.state.gov/Forms/ds11.pdf

The birth certificate needs to be processed asap else it will delay you.

Once the birth certificate is ready and the notarised form has arrived, then proceed to book an expedited appointment for the passport, it defers by state, you might need to wait for a Houston mum to reply your post.

When you have the passport, you need to send a mail to immigration in Nigeria (oa@nigeriaimmigration.gov.ng) for visa on arrival approval letter, you need to send your data page, hubby's data page, baby's data page, copy of your return ticket and house address.

All the best.

I don’t know how to post on Nairaland without quoting cos I’m quite new here. So biko bear with me. I read a lot of people’s feedback and all before traveling and some were really helpful while some others were confusing and almost made me panick for no reason.
Anyways I left naija yesterday August 3rd with qartar airline. It was my first time flying qartar. They are really strict. They almost didn’t let me fly cos I came a little late due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control. After praying and begging, the Indian Oga let me in but refused to check in my bags even though some naija officials wanted to help me. I sha cried and carried myself into the plane with my mum with just my handbag. The flight from naija to Doha was 10 long hours, I was on transit for an hour,55 mind and my flight from Doha to jfk was 13hours. The only good thing I like about Qartar is the way they bombard you with food but honestly to me the long hours aren’t worth it sha. My feet are swollen and all.
After i passed the check in point at Doha to board my connecting flight to jfk, i decided to go ask one of the qartar officials checking people’s passport for WiFi password o and all and that was how one of the qartar officials noticed me and asked if I was pregnant, I told her yes and she asked me how many weeks and I said 29 weeks and she was like I should wait that she needs to call her Oga to check my fit to fly blah blah. I was like Nawa o what have I gotten myself into . I sha showed them my fit to fly and the one I got from the Nigerian Airport. The officer now asked for my correspondence and doctors appointment letter. He showed me his I.d and was like he is an American immigration officer and all. In my mind I was like “ una no go let me reach American soil first before all these interrogation bikonu” I sha showed him everything, my doctor’s appointment and hospital estimate for my delivery and all He now checked my visa and was like “oh it’s a b1/b2 visa so you are entitled to seek medical care or give birth in the USA provided you can afford to pay all your bills and not become a liability.” I said yes I know all that. He also asked me why I am getting too much discount from the hospital and I told him it’s cos I’m paying in cash and he was like ok. He now said why didn’t I pay a deposit to the hospital and all and i said cos I wasn’t comfortable giving them my card details info on the internet due to the level of fraud and all but I already have an agreement with the hospital to pay in cash at my dr’s appointment. He was very friendly and even started gisting with my mum and he was like congrats and I can go board the flight.
We landed in Jfk at 8am USA time, the queue wasn’t so long sha. I just prayed with my mum and we went to join the queue. I had already prepared my papers and everything I’ll say, but I was a bit worried cos I had only 2k6 dollars cash on me compared to some people who carry up to 10k dollars. My mind didn’t give me liver to carry too much money before I faint if it gets stolen.
Cbp: (bald chubby white man) Good morning
My mum and I : Good morning
Cbp: what brings you to the states
My mum: vacation, my grand child’s 1st birthday party and my daughter’s child birth.
Cbp: who is your daughter?
Me: I am.
Cbp: oh that’s good. Is this your first time in the USA?
Me and Mum: No
Cbp: when was your first time ?
Me: since I was 5 years old
Mum: since I was 25 years old.
Cbp: goes through our passports and was like yes that’s right.
Cbp: how long do you want to stay?
Me and Mum: 3 months and half
Cbp: ok. Do you have food stuffs? Fruit? Livestock blah blah ?
Mum and I: No we don’t
Cbp; Do you have more than 10k usd with you ?
Mum and I: No we don’t.
Cbp: stamps our passport and said enjoy your stay in the states pretty girls with a big smile
Me: blushing. Thank you sir.
One with God is really majority. See me thinking many many and worrying about the small money I had in my hand and everything that could possibly go wrong. I even worried if my b1/b2 Tourist visa would entitle me to give birth in the USA cos I had read on Nairaland that you need to apply for b2 medical visa, send change of intent letter or use ur visa to go for visiting first before childbirth. Btw Last time I went to the states was 2016 July, renewed my visa March this year via Dropbox and this trip is my first visit to the States since the visa was issued. The cbp didn’t even ask for my correspondence, hospital or anything about my delivery, no secondary inspection or money count. While I was busy worrying, God had gone before us to pave the way. It’s really good to prepare correspondences and all but the main thing is to let go and let God take control. Now heading to New Jersey now to go sleep and prepare for my nephews bday later tonight then take a flight to Atlanta where I would be giving birth. Thank you Jesus. I wish everyone safe delivery and easy breezy Poe experience. Amen

What about the baby's Nigerian passport or visa to enter nigaria, how did you go about that?
Eclectica:

Hi @Cretaceous

After the birth of your baby, someone from birth records office will come to give you the birth reg form (this is usually within 24hrs of the baby's birth). Once filled, hand it back to the person and advise them you want it sent immediately as you need it expedited.

As we were told at the time, the birth reg office will send this information to their Austin Office (thru thier internal system) at The Texas Department of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics in Austin (http://www.houstontx.gov/health/BirthCert/). In my estimation, it takes about 1 - 2 Business Days for it to be confirmed on the bereau of Stats system.
(Please note that if your baby comes on a weekend, the birth records office of HNWMC will send the baby's birth details to Asutin the next business day).

After being discharged, we called the HNWMC birth records office if it had been sent, once they confirmed it had been sent, we went to pick it up 2 business days later. Check Address up (Houston Downtown) on website below
(http://www.houstontx.gov/health/BirthCert/contact_us.html)

Some other pple do pick-ups at court houses.......I'm not sure how one can go about that.........I hope someone can shed some light on this.

In all, we got our baby's BC in 4 Business Days

For the Passport:
To get it expedited, you have to book an appointment at the Passport Office in Houston (Downtown Houston) ......this can be done over the phone or online. Details can be found here:
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/requirements/where-to-apply/passport-agencies/houston.html

However, please do note that you might not get a an appointment for a date that will suit your travel plans as this is a busy period for them. So what they'll advise you over the phone is that you come to their office 3 business days before your travel date. (evidence of travel and other details you will need to be presented to them ......information on these are on that website)

We went 3 business days before our travel date and got the passport in 24hrs (1business day).

I hope these my plenty stories will be useful.

Congratulations! There are several grounds on which things could have just gone soft for you....

Your next renewal - if things stay as they are now or get worse at the embassy - however may not be as smooth as this your JFK POE experience. The possibility of this is high, but not always so. Regards

Good day lovely people, please I have a question. One of my colleague gave birth with b1 visa and had successful renewed her visa since she was honest at the poe. She had also used the renewed visa to visit the usa. The problem is that she just discovered that she is two months pregnant and her visa will be expiring in October. Is it better she does drop box for b1 or do the drop box for b2 visa

CmMama:
Hello fam! I am back to Nigeria after a successful journey. I had applied for a medical visa which was granted. I arrived Houston via British Airways at 35 weeks. I spent exactly 9 weeks.
Baby arrived 3 weeks later at HNWMC.
Doctor's fees $2000
Hospital fees $2100. The additional 100 was the hospitals fees for circumcision.

Baby's SSN came in the mail at exactly 5 working days.
Birth Cert was picked up at the Harris County after 5 days too. It cost $21. I was amazed at the ease. They are really organised.
Hubby had his notorisation appointment 2 weeks after baby was born. I received this 2 days later and scheduled an appointment for an expedited passport.
Passport was ready after 2 days. Costs $175

The pathology and pediatric bill came in at about 4 weeks.
At 4 weeks, everything was ready. So the next 2 weeks
was for holidaying, Lol.
Baby's ticket costed a whooping $450. I don't recommend British Airways to anyone for this kind of trip! I didn't even get a bassinet.

VOA letter was sent, the reply came in during the connecting flight so I couldn't print. I screen grabbed it and showed the officers. I paid $190 cash.
In all it was a great experience.

Please kindly assist with any doctor details in HNWMC that I can contact for an appointment. thanks

Good day house,
I had my interview today and I was denied.
You all have been very helpful:
My interview questions

Why are going to US?
(To have my baby)
Do you have another child?
(Yes, a daughter)
Where does your husband work
(Answered)
Where do you work
(Answered)
Then I was given the pink paper.
I don’t know where I went wrong. Was very prepared with all my documents as I’ve read this thread thoroughly from page 1.

Dear i think you should reapply if you still have time.
Visa denial can be very painful especially after careful preparation and planning.
my visa interview was last week. am 6 months pregnant and that wasn't a problem.
i wasn't denied but i was asked to send my account statement with my passport for my visa.
