The hepatitis vaccine can be gotten at any General Hospital and teaching hospital. You need to do a test before you can be vaccinated. Vaccines are only given to negative people. You need 3 doses of the vaccine;1st dose, 2nd dose one month after the first and 3rd 6 months after 2nd dose a booster is given a year after.
New born Babies should get vaccinated immediately they are born and this can be given up to 2 weeks, this protects them if their mother is positive. This is part of the routine immunization schedule in Nigeria and is free.
Please get tested and vaccinated today.
Treatment is available but not free like HIV treatments. It does not cure but reduces the viral load and prevents the virus from harming the liver
Im passionate about jis because im a doctor and have seen people die especially those contracting from their mothers
This is preventable so ask your doctor( not a quack) about where to do a test today!

I am sorry you need to do further tests like viral load e.t.c the tests are expensive better you do them in a government hospital

I went for per employment text on Tuesday and I was told by the nurse that I texted positive. I was shock because this my first time of discovering that I have the sickness

I am healthy without any symptoms of illness although she advised me to go about my job till when I am ready to commence treatment
Question

(1) what will be the cost of treatment so that I will prepare financially
( 2) can I use my HMO, because the nurse told me that the hospital will make my medical reports available to my office

You may not even need drugs yet. Further tests will need to be conducted and this will determine whether they will put you on drugs or not
With approx 60K you should be able to do all tests and drugs may cost close to 30K per month and may be needed for about 24 months. Please note that these are just estimates
I am not not sure any HMO will cover this cost. You can find out

I got tested positive during a job medicals in 2014.The battle to survive started and I had to quickly get my wife screened and fortunately for me she was negative, mind u my daughter got vaccine right from her birth.
I visited my family doctor and he directed me to one viral hepatitis hospital in Ibadan,
I got to know that the doctor comes one in a month during my first visit.I was able to see the doctor during my second visit after they have done their own test confirming I was really positive. I saw the doctor and I was place on some anti viral drug and supplements that run to like 30K monthly. I did my first viral load in 2014 and I was made to know the count was 3M.
I continue the usage of the drug as prescribe by the doctor. I did another viral load in 2016,to my surprise the load count has dropped to 9700. I was happy and continue with the drug. Note that I missed some months because of money oooo. I did another viral load last year June or so and the result shows undetected. The doctor has changed the drug to only supplements from anti viral drug and supplements since result came undetected. I pray my next viral load result frees me finally from the virus. Note I made of my mind to fight the virus to a stand still and I am still doing that. I hope to share a good news soon. All the best to hepatitis B positive in the house and I urge u to start the fight early. Thanks.

I beg you in the name of God tell us the drug please

the bold is wrong.
I am afraid u guys didn't visit the right places equipped to treat it.
It kills when people treat malaria in place of it. There are method of treating it. It is not something u can walk into the pharmacy to get drugs yourself. & not all govt hospitals have the capacity to treat it. General hospitals can't handle it, even some federal hospitals lack the doctors to treat it. How long was your broda suffering from it? Did u guys visit any hepathologist in your state?

Even if he tells u the name of the drug u just can't take them like that. This is where people get it wrong, hep b is just like malaria only if u can follow it up( although follow up is expensive). But most importantly u need an hepathologist to guide u before u can start doing certain things on your own? If u haven't gone through the necessary tests required, then the only thing u can take without doctor recommendation are supplements so u don't jump d gun.

Have u told her??
Which hospital, is it a federal govt hospital?
Most govt hospitals know little about it, they just treat it like a random illness.

But most importantly u will need to stay away from any drink with ALCOHOL....

Okay sir
Then u absolutely need to stay away from alcohol, it is very key in treating hep b. It is good u know now, especially since it is showing no symptoms. hep b is not as bad as people portray it to be, dont be surprise those who feel sorry for u will die before u. What is key is just follow up, avoid alcohol at all cost. The first step is to go for viral load test. I doubt if they have it in nyanya gen. hospital. That will determine if u will be placed on drugs or not. Your viral load need to attain certain numbers before u can start taking drugs. U can only take supplements if u wish. But ensure u see an hepathologist, don't know if they have one in nyanya general hospital. If u have d money, go for a consultant in hepathology with private hospital & go to private lab to carry out the tests. I wouldn't advise my enemy to go to national hospital. they will frustrate life out of u. I went there for eye check up, i spent a whole day waiting to see a doctor. I wonder how they gonna handle hep b. Their fees is also same with consultation fee for private hospitals. But ensure u are discussing with a hepathologist, i doubt if they have one in nyanya gen. hospital. that hospital looks empty. u can also try asokoro or maitama gen. hospital. But preferably try to reach a consultant in hepathology with a private hospital, it will save u alot of stress & wont cost u more than 2k to 5k consultation. Honestly national hospital can frustrate one to stop treatment.
