Following his silence /support of the DSS barricading the NASS, his job was terminated. It was a major act of insubordination that rendered the termination of his job deserving. Some many people especially the anti-buharians were quick to link it to PMB and classified it as an act of tyranny, shouting unnecessarily that "democracy is under siege". Sadly for them and sweet for Nigerians was the termination of Daura's appointment which proves that the rule of law in Nigeria still maintains it's solid stance. Democracy will never and can never be under siege.

The President has the power to appoint anyone he deems fit, irrelivant of whether the person is with the DSS or not. However, Daura was in the DSS but was removed during Jonathan's administration. When Buhari came in, he was re-instated and appointed the Director.
