EXCLUSIVE: Osinabjo Got Buhari’s Approval To Sack Daura For ‘Working For Saraki’

The sacking of Lawan Daura, Director-General of the Department of State Service (DSS), by Acting President Yemi Osinbajo was done with the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari, SaharaReporters has been told.

SaharaReporters understands that the decision to sack Daura was taken at about 4am on Tuesday, and Osinbajo secured Buhari’s approval before making the decision public.

Sources confirmed to SaharaReporters that Daura ordered Tuesday’s DSS siege to the National Assembly in order to whip up public sentiments for Bukola Saraki, President of the Senate.

It was gathered that Osinbajo was infuriated that he, as the Acting President and Chief Security Officer of the country, was not consulted before the deployment of DSS operatives to the National Assembly.

The Police had also been told to deploy its men, but the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris rejected the offer, saying there was no threat to security at the National Assembly

As we earlier reported, Daura has already been arrested by a combined team of the Police and the Special Anti-Robbery squad (SARS).

He is currently being detained at the SARS headquarters.

Every sane person knows Daura was working with Saraki from the moment he connived with Saraki to torpedo Magus confirmation.
Lawal Daura has overplayed his hands. He was so comfortable in his intrigues that he never saw a day like this coming. As with everything, his hour had finally arrived. No appointee has openly undermined and sabotaged this administration than the sacked DSS DG.

Lawal Daura it was who physically blocked the EFCC from arresting the ex DSS and NIA chiefs. Lawal Daura it was who converted the DSS into a personal force for his own personal biddings. All through this, the president has never deemed it fit to even query the sacked DSS DG.

The president no doubt deserves credit for allowing Osinbajo to do his job and act in full capacity in his absence, he has raised the bar of vice-presidential freedom and independence to a level not seeing before. Nothing will take away this credit and history will look at this favourably.

But his failure to get rid of incompetent and bad aides has done so much damage to his image, to his presidency and to the legacy that he's trying to build. If Mr. President had been proactive in dismissing bad and incompetent aides, the story would have been completely different from where we are today.

The said meeting wasn't a plenary session so I don't see any reason APC Senators should be in the National Assembly complex as early as 7am when they are on recess. Besides, the said meeting was supposed to be attended by the National Assembly leaders only not all members of the National Assembly.

Whether you guys like it or not, that siege was planned. Saraki wanted to whip up public sentiments for himself but the Presidency was smarter.

That is the right thing to do.
Since the news broke that DSS have invaded the national assembly, I was convinced it was a ploy, because Daura and Saraki are friends.
Was it not the same Daura that has been covering his tracks for him, including when he was caught with N300m he wanted to bribe judges with and everything fizzled out? The man has been the underground president calling the shots. If not for Magu, he'd would have run down this government with corruption and cronyism.
