While you are on you PGWP, explore the express entry or provincial nominee programs offered to international grads. If your province does not have a program in place for international grads or it uses an occupation list, check out the PNP programs offered by other provinces specifically geared towards international grad.
Goodluck.

Thanks Salford.. What I'm most concerned about is.. after my study permit expires.. wife's status would also expire.. What do I do during that period of waiting for my PGWP and no status for her?

I believe you can renew together by sending in a family application i.e putting all your applications in the same package. You would likely have the main application, then fill in your wife and child application as dependants. It would not be that difficult. If your school as an office for international students, they would gladly answer questions about any visa issue you may have.

Hello All,

Please, I have a query.

Would there be any problems at the POE, if you renew your passport in Nigeria after you have obtained a Canadian visa? I am enquiring because the second page of my correspondence letter states that "If you obtain a new passport before your visa expires, you will need to apply for a new visa."

Thanks.

Hello Seniors,

For the benefit of those who are looking to migrate to Canada through Quebec PNP, I will like to ask the below question(s).

For QPNP, it is required that one applies for a CSQ (certificate of nomination) and thereafter use same to apply to the Federal (IRCC) for Permanent Resident (PR) visa. As you are aware that Quebec has its own required settlement fund which is way below that of the Federal. For example, POF required by Quebec for 2 adults and 1 child (under 18 years old) is $5,150 while that of the Federal is $19,093.

So the question is, while QPNP accepts $5,150 from a family of 3 as stated above for the issuance of a CSQ, will IRCC ask for $19,093 for the issuance of a PR or use that of Quebec?

Kindly assist to torchlight grin this matter.

Thank you

I believe it depends on the type of visa u are issued.

If its a visa applied through EE, you are expected to travel before the expiration of the passport where the visa is issued or the expiration of your medicals. Which ever comes first.

I hope this helps.

Hi,

You can apply for express entry using your NYSC experience or any other experience you had in Nigeria (atleast one year with job reference in ircc required format) and your Nigerian/Canadian qualifications. You will have to write IELTS or CELPIP. Use the CRS tool on IRCC website to calculate your score and apply for your family as FSW inland.

Another option will be to wait and get a job to have Canadian experience for one year then apply as CEC using your job reference letter and other requirements.

If your wife is currently working in Canada with her visa, she may qualify for one of the PR visas streams. Use the CRS tool to calculate her score.

All the best

Hello Guys,

I'm currently a Post-Grad student in British Columbia, I was able to successfully bring my wife and daughter here..

my wife has a SOWP and my daughter has a visitors' visa since shes' just 2 years old.

My program ends next year and it would be the end of 3 years post graduate study for me in Canada.

My question is.. How do I go about converting my self, wife and daughter to PR holders... I know I should be getting a three years PGWP after my program ends.. Just looking for advice from someone that's been through this.

Merci!

Quebec immigration program is not like other PNPs where you still have to apply to IRCC after obtaining the CSQ. It is a separate program that allows a beneficiary to reside and work in Quebec just like obtaining PR under the FSW program allows you to stay in other parts of Canada. Even on the Express Entry application, it is indicated clearly that you cannot apply to Quebec using that medium. As far as I know, it is either FSW/PNP or CSQ, you cannot obtain both. So I doubt that the POF will apply.

You may visit their website below to obtain more information on the financial requirements.

Thanks for the feedback boss and it is quite appreciated. However, it is required that one applies to the Government of Canada for PR after obtaining a CSQ from Quebec. I have read this on Quebec's website.

You are welcome. For clarification, do you mean to apply again under Express Entry after obtaining Quebec's approval or to apply for PR card? Maybe you can share what you read here.

Good evening house, pls I have a question regarding driver's license.
I got my learners permit in 2016, didn't upgrade to getting a drivers license as I drove just a few times. I am now considering getting the license, will it be of any impact in Alberta?
Or do I just start all over in Alberta? Thank you

Re: Living In Canada/Life As A Canadian Immigrant by DadR: 9:28pm On Aug 07, 2018
As you rightly mentioned earlier, Quebec PNP is not by any means insync with the federal Express Entry system.

Once an applicant is issued a CSQ, the applicant is required to submit a paper application for PR to IRCC where criminality and medical checks are done. This is why it takes IRCC 17 months to process applications from Quebec PNP nominees as against 6 months for applicants nominated by other provinces.

It is however unclear whether IRCC sticks to Quebec's requirements for POF or theirs, hence the reason for this enquiry.

Regards,

I am in a similar situation, submitted on the 9th of July as well.. A friend waited 2 days after tracking showed passports had been dispatched from Accra. If you're waiting for a PUM or whatever it's called, VFS may not send. She went there anyway and the passports were ready. I'll be going on Monday to pick up.

How far, were you able to collect the passports from vfs Globals yesterday? Did you check on them?

30 days before your wife’s permit is to expire, she should apply to change her status to a visitor’s visa. After you get a job with your PGWP and you have gotten 3 payslips, she should apply for a work permit. If you are lucky enough to get a job immediately after graduation and before her status expires, then she should apply for an extension of her work permit instead of a visitors visa.

If she applies for an extension when you the PA does not have a job, she is likely to be denied. She needs to use your payslips and job offer letter to apply for an extension. Note that your job offer does not have to be full time.

Please also note that your job offer must be in a Noc O, A or B category.

Got to Vfs yesterday and was told passports were 'In Transit'. At noon today got email and sms stating I could come for collection. Two other friends got the same message. Didn't have time to go back today.
I'll pick them up tomorrow.

Greetings to everyone @vcole, @salford @salford1, @ovie how are you?|

Okay I got a question to ask as this is the final step before I apply for my PR.
I wanted to take the IELTS but the last sit closer to my centre got filled up quickly. Now I am considering taking CELPIP.

What is your advise on taking the CELPIP instead of IELTS?

Please I need advise from experienced individuals

Hi everyone, please I need good advice.
While doing the initial application for child benefit, I made a mistake in the incomes for both 2016 and 2017 (converted using USD rate instead of CAD rate leading to an understatement ). When and how to I correct this?

Hi, write back (explanation letter) to the Tax Office you initially sent the application for child benefits to, explaining the use of wrong currency exchange rate in arriving at your equivalent income for the years you stated. Attach a new set of application forms you've filled out with correct income stated and send all with a copy of the previous form containing the wrong rates (for reference) and you will be fine. There may be a delay in processing your new application as they need to reconcile your position but it's better that you are getting it rectified once and for all.

I assume you've seen this https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/guide-q7000-application-permanent-residence-quebec-skilled-worker-class.htm.
To me it looks clear that Québec pof rules win (and federal is not happy about this hence advice to bring in as much money smiley)
The only federal eligibilities you need to clear are application fees, medicals and security checks.
I did a quick search of your question on canadavisa and answers indicate that pof is not needed until when you land. But you can ask or search by yourself -https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/quebec-skilled-worker-federal-stage-after-csq.298038/page-2
All the best.
