mojibbz:Dude, I nor just wan vex this morning for that dude you quoted. That at how they hyped GTB sotey I went to them. Na story. I abandoned the account because of their blunders. Don't even get me started on Skye Bank. Banking in Nigeria still has a VERY long way to go. Funny enough banks were better in the 1980s and earlier before banks mushroomed all over the place. Despite recapitalization, they are still very far behind. To begin with, why save money with pitiable interest rate and inflation that will eat away both capital and interest? |

run for GTB, just because I have saving account with them, they crossed to my saving account to deduct COT (cost of transaction) for my current account while I was in transit in Lagos from my transport fare and made sure I was stranded , I was thinking I still have 5,000 in my saving account for my transport back , only for me to received a text message saying , 2000 transferred from your saving account to your current account, 1835 deducted for charges, I was like who authorised the transfer without my signature? I was stranded and turned a beggar in Lagos alas GTB action, when i complained, their manager was screaming like a market woman on the phone, on my return, I quickly switched bank, they should come to another bank to come and deduct COT, infact, I even abandoned the current and saving account account for them, they can do whatever they like with both account lol come last year, a friend mistakenly sent money to that abandoned account, I went there, and they told me the account was dormant and I should revalidate the account, I wasn't with the requirement and had no time to go back, I believed nothing will touch money in a dormant account until I got SMS from them that they want to issue a MasterCard for me, I decided to stop by and warn them , I already have a MasterCard with my current bank, I then told them, ...you GTB told me I can not withdraw my money from the account because the account is dormant right? He said ' YES!!! I then asked him, why is it that your own friend, a third party, MasterCard can now deep hand into my own dormant account , my own pocket to take my own money, but I the owner of the money can't? ahaha he quickly called his boss, said seem like I'm in a law court, are you a lawyer? that was how I was able to stop them and their friend from taking my money, sure they do this to lot of people 7 Likes |

All saving accounts are similar in terms of interests but for other reasons like internet banking, technological driven services flexible credit cards repayment and no 65 naira charge for using other banks ATMs...card services available throughout the world at negligible fees..only down side is customer care center is central and you will have to worry some bloody Indian accents... Also branches are restricted to major cities in d country... Then use it for salary account, be prepared to receive ur salary 5 days after pay day... I notice an additional 11k(I guess its an interest credit) on my esaver accounts.... Tho the money there huge small. All in all.. I recommend STANDARD CHARTERED BANK....If you can find one around you. If not, then try StanbicIBTC, Zenith (just added keypad banking, and its so convenient and fantastic), Access (horrible customer care, u will b placed on hold for hours) then GTB.... Others na same same I can't say about First Savings... I only have a current account with them (and its horrible, they sometimes take COT along with transactions) Skye is the worst account that I have ever operated....too much wahala with internet banking, apply for limit for app, do differently for internet.... So annoying... If interest is your priority, then you should consider StanbicIbtc mutual funds... 1 Like

orjikuramo: True but SMS notification is preferable especially when something fishy is going on in your account. Say you don't have access to the internet at that time, you can take action quickly. The best way to save your money is save via PayPal, no interests, no service charges. 2 Likes |

Bank that will not force you to take debit card which will in turn reduce your account balance is the best bank to bank with. Want to open a savings account, stanbic bank does that very well according to info 1 Like |
