Vo: Good morning
Me: Good morning
Vo: can I have your i20 and passport
Me: passed it
Vo: I can see that you're going to UL
Me: yes please
Vo: when did you graduate first degree
Me: year 2011
Vo:what have you been doing since then
Me: I went for the compulsory NYSC from nov 2011 to oct 2012, I Stated working with abc bank from apr 2013 to Jan 2018, then I joined bdc bank in feb 2018 till now
Vo: so what will you do after this degree
Me: I intend to come back to nigeria to work for 2 years after which I will start my own ict consulting company, did you know that online transactions in nigeria actually hit 86 trillion naira last year? Yes, it did and Q1 2018 is already at 36 trillion naira. This is a good sphere to play in and there are more challenges that needs solutions ( I mumbled jumbled a bit here)
Vo: how much do you earn?
Me: about 314k monthly
Vo: how did you choose this school
Me: it was recommended by a colleague of mine who also did his masters there, I researched the school for areas of interest and I matched with Dr. MT, I mailed him and he requested for my cv and test scores, he was impressed and recommended me to the grad cord Dr. AM who then advised me to apply. I did and I was granted the admission

Vo: do you have documents to that effect
Me: (passed fellowship offer letter and both banks statements mine and uncle, fixed deposit and treasury bill certificate of my uncle) I explained further while she was checking it: my uncle actually placed the money in fixed deposit until I'm ready so as to generate more interest, my investment is on call deposit which I liquidated before coming here(the money came in 2 days ago and I know she will definitely notice, it was a genuine call deposit investment)

After perusing the documents and typing

Vo: I will hold on to this document for confirmation, if found false you and your uncle would be banned for 10 years, do you still want to submit it
Me: yes definitely
( she returned my i20 and folded banks details into my passport and placed it aside)
(Me don dey korinsinu--oluwa ese, na so devil rear head)
Vo: wait, you've been denied in Lagos before?
Me: yes, I was denied last year
Vo: what was the reason
Me:I wasn't given a reason but I was actually advised to reapply.(I had already started stammering. I wanted to say because I didn't give enough reason for ties but smth just gum my mouth)
Vo: typed very fast and gave me white copy and said the remaining pick up stuffs
Me: thank you so much.

Well, above is actually my sixth attempt, 5 in Lagos denied 1 in Abuja approved.

Don't give up, give it one more push. God is never late, if you know you know

Hi Drwrites,

I’d suggest you defer the admission to the next admission semester as you have barely 7 calendar days to apply and get travel documents. It is however still possible to apply and be issued a visa within 7 days if you are able to fill out your DS-160 and book interview appointment for this week. (If you’re will to take this risk, it is advisable to call your school and request for a new I-20 with resumption extension though). Good luck with your decision.

Best thing is to defer it to avoid mistakes and disappointments, spring will soon arrive, then u can apply with proper preparation

My travel and POE experience
I left Abuja for US on at 22:15 saturday 11th August. Since school resumes 13th August I had to leave a week after getting approved. We had a 12 hour layover in Frankfurt before jetting off to JFK New York.
Aside the time spent on the queue, I did not spend up to 2 minutes with the border control officer. Only my i20 was requested and only question asked was that I was going for studies which I answered in the affirmative.
My next flight to Cleveland was from LaGuardia airport. I stood outside JFK enjoying free wifi and communicating with family back home. I had prior information that New York taxis were really expensive and so I didn't try catching one. Someone had told me to use the metro. So as I stood by the corner chatting with peeps and enjoying the scenario of NYC at night, a man dressed like a security personnel with a walkie talkie walked up to me and asked me if I was waiting for someone, where I was going and how I planned to get there. I told him my plans of using the metro and he said I should follow him and he would direct me to the spot where I would catch the metro and that the next metro was the last for the night and I had to act fast so that I can get on it else I would miss my flight. So he crossed the road and I followed him, and he pointed to a spot and said that's where they wait for metro.
I stood there for a while and began to feel skeptical. The spot looked isolated and more of a car park than a metro pick up spot. Within a few minutes a luxury car pulled up and the driver shouted "Metro for LaGuardia airport". My spirit no carry am at all. I told him no that I'll just wait for my friend. He tried persuading me and I suddenly recognised him as the guy that directed me to that spot in the first place. He had hurriedly changed to a Polo Shirt. I left him, began going back to JFK, i then saw some guys at a corner laughing. I then realised that i almost got scammed. I followed some Chinese people and took an elevator up to an air-train station where I took a free train to Jamaica station. From there I paid $8.50 for a metro card that I used to get to Roosevelt Avenue sub way station, from there I used the same metro card to get on a bus to LaGuardia airport.
Am finally at Cleveland and I called a friend IN Oaklahoma and he told me how he fell for that same scam in January and how the driver told him he had a faulty meter and charged $400 to that same LaGuardia airport which he later begged and paid $110.
The hustle is real everywhere. Shine your eyes. I hope someone learns from my experience and don't fall for this bunch of scammers

Please avoid this. If he can't read this thread and do it himself, let him register with EducationUSA. it's about 34,000 naira. They'll put him through the process and conduct mock SAT test weekly.

Seen someone benefit immensely from them and it's at the embassy too.

Hi guys, my visa was delayed today. I want to reapply, i am meant to resume my studies 5th Sept, will i likely get a date before then or should i just move my resumption to spring 2019.
You will, earliest date as at today is August 29th 2018. And the dates keeps going back and forth. Once you pay your visa fee, keep checking, you should be able to get a date before your resumption date. Goodluck

Is he not supposed to wait for 6 months before reapplying considering he was just denied?

Thank you. Just checked out the site and I'm kinda not sure about their services. Any idea what student membership covers?

It covers admission advisory services, visa advisory, mock SATs, use of their library/resources etc all for 1 year. I'll suggest you go to the US embassy near you(Lagos or Abuja) for more enquiries.

I am more familiar with the Abuja office. I registered with them for graduate studies while my friend's daughter registered for undergraduate studies. She's in school now. For UG, you have to be a straight A student or for graduate, 1st class/2.1. They don't take in lower grades.

When you pay, you'll be given an ID card to enable you have access to the office. An adviser will be attached to you who will put you through the admission requirements. For UG, you have to have a certain SAT score and above 100 in Toefl. For grad, above 300 in Gre and 100 in Toefl. You'll also get familiar with the embassy and visa officers as they organise talks with VO's too. If you're in Abuja, I could give you a number of one of their advisors

the 6 month rule is for expedited appointment and it still exists. You cannot make an expedited/emergency appointment within 6 months of denial, you can make a normal appointment

Please, has anyone used an Access Bank dollar card (linked to a domiciliary account) in the abroad? How reliable is it?
Thanks
