Very amusing coming from a northerner who has benefited largely from the quota system imposed on the country by the north. If he were to be president today, would he support a constitutional overhaul? As long as merit is not respected in Nigeria, and handouts keep going to the north and it's elites the people will remain backward. And these r the people that determine to a large extent whoever becomes president as a result of population and not what they contribute to the nation's coffers!

There is a difference btw Islam and Muslims in Northern Nigeria.Northen Nigeria Muslims have abused knowledge seeking in Islam as begging.

Know that Islam forbids begging and the way it's it's done in the north.

Do u see other Muslims around the world doing this?Ok just come back home,have u seen other NAIJA Muslims e.g yorubas doing this?

They are not almajiri anymore they are abandoned kids, quite convenient for the parents and Imamns too. Watch them closely and you'll see a cartel of beggers in an organized begging system. If you give any kid money there's an older child sitting somewhere calling him to collect it.

The solutions are simple

Get the Koranic school agreeing to the almajiri system or Imamns to be registered. All children within their system must also registered.

They must also be able to account for the children with them.

Spot checks to be conducted on the Imamns and random children on the street. If the children can't identify the school or Imam they belong to they are abandoned children and should be taken of the streets. If an unregistered child with no home is found in a school call it kidnapping

Lastly NGOs philantropists and academic centers should copy the American university Nigeria system where the kids collate everyday for learning basic schooling, how to brush and take care of themselves. They are fed once a day and organizations like shop rite have been known to donate feeding items to the program. This gives them(the children) a chance in future.other organizations must join accredited centers in providing for programs such as this

Please remember abandoned kids are the responsibility of the community. To stem this ugly trend everyone must act now. All northerners in support must show us their child that graduated from the system.

Yes northern Nigeria is the most backward !!Yet the same northern Nigeria determine the way forward in Nigeria for most part. Despite the exposure,enlightenment and education of the people from the South why is the Nation still heavily under the influence of the north? Is that not failure on the most educated part of Africa (southern Nigeria) as well, what is the use of the education ,exposure and all that .Its 59 years since the departure of the British is that not enough time to change what ever advantage the colonialist left a little bit.

Thanks for sharing. This system was put in place by the Northern Elites to keep the mass ignorant of how they are abusing and terrorizing them. None of the current leaders care about their population.

Northern Nigeria is the major reason Nigeria remained underdeveloped and backward.

Their past military leaders created the dysfunctional system, laws, constitution and institutions we have in Nigeria today that is stopping the progress of Nigeria and when u recommend that we need to change these things for Nigeria to work, they bring out dargar and Yorubas support them out of fear!

How many northern youths are making wave outside Nigeria None!

How many northern youths apply for skilled migration to Canada, Australia, NZL, Germany, UK, etc None!
