My boy is 8weeks and 2 days. He’s been on aptamil, sma gold and similar supplementation. When can I start introducing our local organic meal mixs like brown pap+crayfish+soyabeans etc.
Pls paste a link to where I can see Nigerian receipts to try.

They came to take baby's blood for about 3 tests. Full blood count, mp and one other test. 2.5ml of blood. Hubby was shaking when the put the drip, I wonder how he would have felt when this new doc was searching for vein in the other hand and later collecting blood.

God is my strength.
Weldone mama the both of you will be fine and discharged in good health don't worry.

Thank you all. We were supposed to be discharged this morning but I heard the hospital doesn't discharge until baby has started breast feeding . I don't know how true this is, but I trust the hospital sha. I am only afraid of their bills grin . They are one of the best around here.

I experienced my first dose of vigilante. We didn't sleep yesternight. Baby cried and didn't sleep cos of hunger. I have been putting him to breast but nothing yet.
This morning, I noticed he shakes at times and has some strange breathing that isn't frequent. I alerted the chief matron who requested his blood sugar be checked. It was very low and doctor was informed. B4 then, hubby has been told to get glucose but when the doc came , he did some calculations and set up intravenous drip/ saline water. Some drip were also put in his mouth . Doc also noticed he had elevated temp and hubby had to put on the aircon (he is so aircon averse) Since then baby has been calm . He is sleeping at the moment though he hiccups at times. He is still on the drip.

I have been told to increase my tea and water intake for the BM.
It is well.

Mama pls give ur baby formula while still trying to establish breast milk. all these happened cos of hunger.. All the best. pls I beg you.

Hi all,
I am now an official member of this thread.
My breast milk is yet to come out and my baby is really hungry. I plan to do exclusive but I cannot continue to wait for breast milk. Mumsie advised
1- give baby glucose and water pending when breast milk comes out.

2- buy baby formulae and give baby pending when breast milk comes out.

Please which do u advise? Which formula do u advise?
Congratulations once again mama. Don't know about the formula to use but I advise you to continue putting ur baby to ur breast cos I experienced same when I gave birth it took two whole days after for my breast milk to start coming out. My family Doctor explained to me that a new born baby can survive for 3days without food but that didn't stop my worrying. I think this issue is common with ftmums

Hello mamas, in the words of @eksbabe make una no look my character o. I'm sorry for abandoning you guys smiley. So from when my baby was 11 months, she started making efforts to stand and would take one or two wobbly steps. This continued until past 12 months. However, since then this girl has refused to stand and even take any steps anymore. Once you put her to stand, she either curls her legs or just looks for the nearest thing to hold and when you try to force her, she just starts crying. She goes round the house standing and walking while holding things. If I had not seen her stand and take a few steps before, I would have thought it was my imagination. Did anyone experience this with their LO? Also, she still does that toe walking thing I complained about earlier although its better now as she firmly puts her feet on the ground 70% of the time but is there a way I can hasten it so she puts both feet on the ground all the time? Most importantly, how can I aid her walking because no be get myself again and I don't have strength to be carrying her always.

PS; She is 13months and 9days old.
This children can give someone high blood pressure eh. My son was exactly like this,he holds stuffs and walks round the house. He never stood on his own for more than 15secs at a go. One woman even told me to take him to see an orthopaedic doctor(I rejected it immediately). I came home from work last month,a day after he clocked 15months my son walked up to the door to greet me,I fainted and woke up o. She will walk when she is ready that I am sure of. I had sleepless nights o,all the people he gave 5months they were standing very well and taking few steps and he will just sit on the floor if there is nothing to hold on to.

I bought him a football the week he started walking,I guess that also motivated him. He enjoys seeing the ball been kicked around,he gets so happy and tries to move too.

Its been 3weeks since he started walking,he now runs and goes about disarranging everywhere.

Kiss our Princess for me.

Thank God baby is being attended too now

Pls continue putting baby to breast. Before I had my lo, colostrum was already coming out and the doctors confirmed it. when my son was born, he kept crying whenever he was not sleeping. Doctors had to give him fluid with syringe (dis drip liquid of water/glucose or something like that) cos they said he was hungry n cud get dehydrated. They had to give him 3ce in each day. The issue was my son was not sucking, Dr said he was a lazy sucker.

What I did after I was discharged was that, I'd press the nipples while he was sucking. After 2/3 feeds, I'd offer formula for him to drink cos sometimes he still cried. So the formula was to satisfy my conscience that he was eating even if bm was not coming out well. He still took the formula so i knew he was not satisfied. I did this for about 7/10 days then I stopped the formula and he was practically sleeping on the brest just so I was sure that he was feeding even though he still cried sometimes but he Neva refused it so I knew milk was coming out just fine.

To be honest, cud be stressful n tiring and ur nipples may hurt. Just keep putting him to suck, the milk wud eventually come out very well.

Mamatwiny, with the little I have read from other mama please give your LOs formula. I recommend Similac.

When I had my baby and my breast was not enough for my baby, my doctor had to advised me to introduce formula. So please for the sake of your baby, kindly introduce formula.

Mamatwiny, give formula biko.
Your baby needs to feed and poop meconium out or else he will be at risk of developing jaundice.

Keep putting him to breast.

8 weeks and is on Aptamil +Sma gold + other supplements?

Oga it's ten much o. Breast milk is enough till he is 6 months. If you must give him anything else then formulae (Aptamil or Sms gold ) and water only. Don't suffocate the boy with food and supplements .

Good morning mama's. Happy Sunday!!

Mama's that have travelled for days with babies 6 months upward, please how did you handle their food?
We will be travelling for a function and staying in the hotel and am trying to figure out how to make and feed LO. LO doesn't take cereal so it makes it difficult, formula is sometimes but does well with purees, solids and pap which will be difficult to prepare.

Secondly, where can o get jar food 7m+ in Lagos? Most store stocked up purees and porridge I need proper food.

Is there Nizoral for babies cos the Nizoral I know is very strong. Would never put that on a babies hair.

@Tamy, have you tried bathing your baby with red acalypha leaves, then apply a generous amount of coconut or olive oil on the head? Basically make sure the hair is hydrated or moist with oil during the day ,The ela will come off as you comb out.

Depends on hotel. Buy your bottled water , use room kettle (If provided ) and boil water for pap and formula. If there's no kettle, then get yourself one of those handy electric water boiler.

Solids?eat from hotel menu especially if it's a la carte or find a decent eatery or restaurant around. Make sure the food is served hot and fresh (to keep away germs) then blow cold for baby.

Purees? Lots of Gerber and Heinz packaged purees on the shelves of most supermarkets. Ready to eat. Check for the expiry dates.

Na graduate money you want to pay grandma. They call it packaging cheesy cheesy.

Well, I also walked through this lane last year for my daughters birthday. But I had to resolve to a nearby photographer to do the shoot for me( that one collected 40-70k) at least I saved a lot of money. The prices were crazy. Couldn’t do it in the country I stay as per it’s expensive but getting to naija sef my eye shuk.

I bought all the decoration myself and ask my sister to do it.

I can’t spend 250k or 350k on just photo shoot. It’s crazy out their ma but that’s the price out there.

Pele.

Thank you all. We started him on sma gold yesterday night while he was still on drip and he took it well, but that did not stop him from crying all through till 5:30 am.
The drip line did inconvenience him so he cried each time he wanted to move that hand. I put him breast to stop the cry but he gets tired most times.
My legs are swollen from sitting and trying to pacify him.

Good news is that colostrum started coming out this morning on the right breast while the left pores are now secreting drops of milk. I have taken much fluid this morning to be able to nurse him as soon as he wakes. Will also give him formula after drinking BM.

See pains wey jjc cause me. Anyway, we have been discharged.

You can buy traveller kettle( kenwood product) very small, cute and stylish. Pricey though but it’s very useful. No neee to cal hotel room service . Get your dry pap and dissolve it into water when you get to the hotel. You may buy a bowl and just mix your pap with hot water in the hotel.

Then get all the necessary thing like milk and some jar food( not a fan though). Safe trip
