ASS TYRANNY

Chisco stared at the beautiful nurse. She wriggled her waist, her ass bubbled, and she repeated herself: “Fvck me again you fool.”

Right there before him was a sight he knew would stay with him for the rest of his life. But for everything Chisco was, he was not an opportunist. Being village bred he could recognize what was happening. The nurse was not well. Someone had inflicted her with dog spirit. In his time as an acclaimed vigilante team leader, Chisco had seen all kinds of temptation. Twice he had been offered sex by the most beautiful women in his community when he caught them sneaking in and out of their lovers homes when their husbands were away on a journey. Both times, he had said no. He had also been offered bribes by thieves he accosted fleeing with goats and chickens, and every time Chisco had always said no. He did like beautiful women. He also enjoyed goat and chicken pepper soup. But above all that, he cherished the sense of accomplishment he felt every time he stood up for what was right in his vigilante expeditions. He had been told he was a famous policeman in a previous life. His love for conscientious vigilante work in the present life gave credence to that. He liked the nurse before him. But all he could see was a woman in need of help.

“Ala!” Chisco hollered “The earth mother! Somebody do dis bad thing to your daughter! Ala! Show yourself and helep your daughter!”

Josephine jumped out of the bed and scrambled for a covering for her body. “What are you doing here?” She cried. Just then, the door opened and Wasiu and his ruffian friend entered the room. The mere thought that those two would have easily had their way had he not gotten there first riled Chisco.

“Oya, get out. Two of you. Make una comot for here!”

“Achike’s brother, what are you doing here? What is happening?” Josephine said. Chisco put himself between Josephine and the two men.

“Who be dis?” Wasiu’s companion said. They were both reeking of alcohol. The ruffian’s eyes fell on Josephine who could only cover a part of her nudity as she tried to come to terms with what was happening. Chisco saw him grab his crotch and squeeze hard. He stretched an inebriated hand past Chisco in an attempt to touch her breast. Chisco seized the hand and twisted it. The man groaned in agony and met Chisco’s chin with a left hand uppercut. Chisco let him go and held his jaw. He then steadied himself and repeated his order.

“Make una dey go!” he said pointing to the door. Josephine had at this time managed to wrap her bed sheet around herself and gained some control of her wits.

“What is this? Achike’s brother what are you doing? How did you get here? And who is this man?” Josephine said pointing at Wasiu’s guest.

Chisco spread his hands like a mother hen and made sure Josephine was fully shielded from the intruders.

“I dey protect you,” He said. This two he-goat come rape you.”

Wasiu fixed his gaze on Chisco and said, “So it is him you are fvcking now?”

“Shut up you animal!” Josephine spat.

Wasiu laughed and said, “So I am an animal now?” He then produced his phone, pointed it at Chisco and Josephine and clicked a picture that was accompanied with a huge flash.

“Your man will like to see this. Turning to his friend, he said “Ibadan! Make we dey go.”

Chisco, with the agility of a panther, dived at Wasiu and knocked the phone out of his hand. Chisco made for the phone that had landed in the corner of the room. Ibadan jumped after him. They both hit the floor close to the foot of the bed and began to struggle for the phone.

“Stop it! Stop it! Get out all of you!” Josephine cried.

Chisco got the phone and managed to put it in his hip pocket. Rising to meet him, Ibadan drove his head into the chin he had already punched and Chisco felt a bone creak. Being an adept traditional wrestler and a WWE enthusiast, Chisco drove a shoulder into Ibadan’s midsection in a classic spear move and sent him crashing into the wall and hitting his head. It was lights out for Ibadan as Josephine began to scream for help.

Chisco turned and began to reassure Josephine. Wasiu went to his fallen comrade, produced something from his pocket, and brought it to Ibadan’s nose. Ibadan sneezed and came to. He shook his head clear and then stood up. He then put his hand somewhere in his waist area and produced a penknife. As Chisco turned to face him, Ibadan took aim of his right eye and drove the knife into it. He pulled out the knife and a stream of blood followed. Realizing what they had done, Wasiu and Ibadan quickly opened the door and fled the scene.

Everyone ran to the top floor. They saw Wasiu and another man running out of the compound but no one was sure what was happening. But as the voice of Josephine continued to call on them, there they all went. Josiah was first through the nurse’s door.

“Please help. They have blinded him!”

“Who did this? And why?”

More people squeezed into the nurse’s room where they found Chisco writhing on the floor and holding his face. His hands and clothes were bloodied as the blood continued to ooze out of his wounded eye. Achike powered through the crowd and gasped as he saw his brother in a pool of blood.

“What did you do to him, asawo! What kind of nyash do you have that we cannot have peace in this compound since you came?”

Achike found superhuman strength and bent and scooped Chisco. Lukman got to his side and offered to help.

“I’ll get my keke. Hurry!” Ndifreke said.

“What is going on here?” Mr Zubi said as he arrived at the scene. No one paid attention to him. Achike and Lukman on each side of Chisco helped him down the stairs as Ndifreke ran for his keke. Ndifreke had it stationed in front of the house by the time the throng reached him.

“Leave me make I siddon by myself” Chisco said and shook himself free of his brother and Lukman. They both still sat with him in the back seat as Ndifreke engaged the gear and throttled towards God Dey hospital.

Josephine quickly got dressed in jeans and a Tshirt and rushed downstairs after them. She was a nurse after all. But they were gone by the time she reached the frontage. It was past midnight and there were no okadas and she would not find another keke to take her to the hospital.

The group that had accompanied Achike downstairs approached her and demanded to know what happened.

“We saw Wasiu and another man running away. What were they doing in your room?”

“I don’t know. I woke up and found the three men in my room fighting.”

“What kind of stupid explanation is that? How did they get to your room?”

“I said I don’t know!”

“Didn’t you lock your door?”

“I don’t know!”

“Do you realize that if anything happens to that boy that you will have questions to answer? He was attacked in your room!”

“I did not invite him or anyone to my room.”

“Who opened the door for them?”

“They broke in. I was asleep!”

“I checked. The door was not forced open.”

“I don’t know how they got there. I did not invite them. I said I was sleeping.”

“Why didn’t you lock your door?”

“I did not know that my door was not locked. Has it never happened to you that you get to a door you thought you locked and found that it was not locked?”

“What was Wasiu doing in your room again nurse?” It was Irikefe that spoke.

Josephine turned and looked at him. She opened her mouth but nothing came out.

“What do you mean by again?” Mr Zubi said.

Irikefe’s eyes were piercing. No one else dared to speak now.

“Is that why you changed your mind about our plans to stop them?”

“I have had a bad night. Please excuse me” Josephine said and turned to leave. Irikefe held her by the elbow and spun her around.

“I think you should tell everyone what you told Ndifreke and me.”

“Leave me alone and mind your business,” she said and snatched her hand and walked away. They could all only look as she faded into the night.

“Look at all of you. See how you are looking at her backside. Why will you not stab and kill each other! It was Mrs Zubi that spoke with a hiss and a sneer.

The men looked at each other and then settled on Irikefe.

“Why are you looking at me? Why don’t you answer Mama Willy-willy’s question? Why are you all obsessed with her nyash?”

Mr Kingsley who had been stroking his beard for the past one minute then said, “The butt is the new breast, and the lower back the new ankle. Now if only we could figure out where the brain has moved – Celia Rivenbark.”

“For you men, your brains have moved to between your legs!” Mrs Zubi said.

“Oh, Mr Kingsley, even nyash get quote?”

“The average woman feels small whenever a man who has just walked past her does not turn his head to check out her ass, especially if it is—or if she feels that it is—big ― Mokokoma Mokhonoana.”

“So that justifies one man stabbing another in the eye?”

“There is a lust in man no charm can tame: Of loudly publishing his neighbor's shame: On eagles wings immortal scandals fly, while virtuous actions are born and die - William Harvey”.

“Alright, Kingsley. That is enough. The question is what could have happened to make Wasiu attempt to kill Achike’s brother? Why were both of them there at the same time? Efe asked the girl a question she refused to answer. What is going on in this compound?”

“Lust’s passion will be served; it demands, it militates, it tyrannizes – Marquiz de Sade,” Mr Kingsley said.

“Tell us what you know Efe.”

“Tell you what? What did you people do the last time I said something in this compound?”

“That was different. Someone almost got killed this night.”

“Well, what I complained about the other time kills more people in Africa than stabbing.”

“We will not revisit that issue Efe. And you know your father did not like it.”

“Then go and meet my father for the information you need,” he said and walked away.

“Let that pompous little prick go. At least we have a lead. We will have to find Wasiu.”

“He is not coming back any soon. Or are you just coming to this compound?”

“I pray he turns up in jail again.”

“Achike’s brother is still alive. He will tell us what happened.”

“Kingsley has said it all. Don’t pretend you don’t understand. It is the tyranny of lust. The tyranny of an ass big enough to consume all of you!” Mama Willy-willy said.
