On average, Enugu - Ph express road is a nightmare (from start to finish).

It is not their duties per se but come to think of it, Rotimi Amaechi constructed the Port Harcourt-Owerri Road, from Igwuruta to boundary with IMO State during GEJ's administration.

There's serious construction work ongoing between Aba and Enugu but little or no work between Port-Harcourt and Aba. The Port-Harcourt to Aba section was sand filled at Oyigbo for expansion to 8 lanes but abandoned probably because of heavy rains.

It is observed by Naijadriva that over the years, that road has been abandoned by the government. The bad spots on this road starts Oyigbo section(Rivers State) to Aba, through Umuahia, which has the major section(Abia State), then Okigwe (Imo State) to Enugu.

For Example, It took about 20-30mins from Port Harcourt to Aba but due to bad road, it takes longer (1-2hrs depending on whether there is rush hours or not).

here in Jigawa state, there are many good roads even in rural areas... wats happening in the south and east. gosh, federal road for that matter!

Is the repair of the road ongoing at any point?

People should be able to tell the truth on the state of this road instead of coming here to tell lies. I have plied on that road more than two hundred times since 2011 on my way to Aba and Port Harcourt. The road has four sections viz: Enugu to Okigwe, Okigwe to Umahia, Umuahia to Aba, Aba to Port Harcourt. Before 2011 the whole stretch of the road from Enugu to Port Harcourt was in a very bad shape. Jonathan started work on Okigwe to Umuahia and Umuahia to Aba sections. The Okigwe to Umuahia section was about 85% ready while the Umuahia to Aba section was still ongoing as at the time Jonathan left office in 2015. Buhari has continued work on the two sections . Meanwhile nothing has been done on the Enugu to Okigwe and Aba to Port Harcourt sections of the road which has seriously deteriorated since then. It is a complete nightmare to travel on the road with more than twenty five police checkpoints for extortion. It can only be compared to Aba to Ikot-Ekpene Federal road which arguably is the worst Federal road in Nigeria.
