Should The Nigeria Culture Stand An Why So ? by gregyboy(m): 11:37am On Aug 25, 2018
Should our culture and languages stand and why so: i know many people would frown at this but as for me most of our culture shouldnt stand at all .it seems most of our modern culture as been centered around white supremacy and ethnocentrism .we also have to know that our culture is revolving around the white supremacy which all started during the colonial era when the white man looked down on africans as inferior .so there was a need to show them our culture wasnt babaric as they say.and ever since it has always been like that till it evolved to tribal supiority which we didnt have before the advent of the whitemen..secondly our culture seem to be influenced by also the same whitemen so what is african culture then: apart from the religion our native clothes are all from the white .including the shoes and the our modern worship then what is really african culture to say? is it the laws that says dont eat with your lefthands cause you may be eating with a spirit? .this is to say most of our culture in africa or nigeria is influenced by our traditional worship and the white men.which the religion is gradually going to extinction .thirdly our culture has brought divisionism to we as people than unity we have so many kings and so many culture with so many language inside just one country how would unity grow our culture seem beautiful outside and looks ugly inside fourthly our culture have always been the backbone for african underdevelopment from creation as the culture was intertwine with religion that limited we to think outside it ...but all of it is seem not bad some should be retained
What should be retained and what should be scrambled : first of all a culture that promote unity oness should be retained this mean that all our local dialect should be eliminated as it of no use than divisionism which is displayed by nairalanders everyday with this an eastern man could go rule the north as a governor and no sentiment attach because no divisionism in culture just nigerian as a person, all our kings should be dethroned as we only have one king the president of nigeria. if the kings should stand it should be only four of the kings the oba of benin for the south ,the sultan for d north, the ooni for the west and the obi from the north the other culture that should stand is the yam festival, fishing festival, african festival which should be celebrated differnt days in the country in one day apart from this culture i say no to any other culture value system other than this

our Total culture should not stand due to its involvement it blood and set boundaries for marriage , socialism and all but i maintain that there is no such thing as MODERN CULTURE , we only left the parts that were not really cool practicing as the intro to WESTERN lives sunk deep into the fibre of deep roots in our culture and any tribe who refused to adjust were tagged Illiterates , backward and are cannibals... So we were bought in to western life styles that many still can't seem to fit in.
Our culture should stand but not the ones that we all know is wrong

The part about division in our unity , that is the norm with every living thing , the pride of territory , competition and pride...
We do not have unity mainly because of religion in Nigeria now and the pride of territory and competition...
We have had discords in major english speaking countries and one thing has kept angry nerves down , understanding and the need for socialism , letting the pride of competition, territory and hostility down

Are we looking at western culture ..they westen people dont even know they have culture we are the ones tagging culture to them the western believe that everyday is a new life and a new culture but we believe that everyday is our old culture not forgeting this were the culture that set us outside from d rest part of the world it has caused divisionism in nigeria and africa you see the cameroons killing the english speaking camerooners u see igobs and yorubas fighting here on nairaland .why should we tagged people life style western culture when thier culture is a mixed of all culture in the world that brought thiers so is not independent to them culture has no use in modern days also with our kings if no cukture no tribal war,no divisionism no am igbo i need biafra it only reminds us how different we are instead of looking foward to more unity

If a man drops his igbo local dialect sown , he would stop being called an igbo...
What makes him an igbo?
First, his language...
When he goes to rule in the north, then it would be that he wouldn't be called an IGBO but a Nigerian because the name comes with some tags like his language , food, lifestyle and so this can not be possible , there must a belonging...

What is culture? All the knowledge and values
shared by a society or

- the attitudes and behaviour
that are characteristic of a
particular social group or
organization.
Does the white have a culture?
Yes they do , they have a character you can point out that they possess and carry out...
That is culture

This guy must have smoked some good weed. The article sounded scatterbrained but I got the major gist of it.
The world has changed. Our history did not start from colonialism, it started far from it. It is only our written history which stems from there because Africans usually use story telling instead of writing, drawing and other time tested forms of storing information to pass on knowledge.
Tribalism is not a today-thing. It has always existed. Back in the day it was a suicide mission to drift away from your tribe because anyone you saw who didn't recognize you meant certain death. Even within tribes there was still division, only that now where it might involve verbal curses, then it was a fight till death on face-to-face encounters.
The world is moving to a global culture. I don't see why this is still a topic for debate. Nowadays the children grown pick habits which will serve them well on a global scale while discarding those which seem outdated or senseless.
See the pseudo American accent Nigerians use when they travel out of the country, it is now part of our culture because it works.

Nigerian culture and Nigeria itself was created for the benefit of England children, which they, England, has immensely benefitted from and rightfully so. Instead of ridding the land of people like Buhari and Tinubu and Okorocha, our girls are slaying on Instagram on terrible roads, our boys are spending their small change at quack clubs in the western world and on weekends it is to Redeemed and co that are not interested in serious matters.

This of course all by design, as you see the African teams in the last world cup all a disgrace, yet the Africans in France carrying the cup for FRANCE....
