I have lived in Abeokuta, Ibadan, and Makurdi.

I will pick Ibadan for having the best best value quality of life and education to raise a family as the best city. Abeokuta has it even cheaper but no social life like in Ibadan. Makurdi has food the most loving people in the world but the education and social life is not as good as other 2 cities.

The best time I ever had in my life was the NYSC year on Makurdi thanks to the people of Gungul and Mrs Ikpeaghar a principal she had this amazing 10 year old daughter Nancyost helpful kid ever
Good to know you are still remembering us and Mrs lkpagher who is now retired. I'm posting from Gungul

Ibadan and Makurdi, Yes! You could still get 20 naira taxi in Ibadan as I speak. How I wish our government were not corrupt since independence. There would have been functional rail system across Nigeria by now. Living in those cities would have been fun. Ibadan is as quiet as Banana Island. I would have just been working in Lagos but living in Ibadan. Once it's 5:30, I'd just get to the train station, awaiting the fast speed train that would take me to Ibadan in less than one hour. How I wish we gained independence only around year 2000, Nigeria would have far been better than south africa by now because those oyinbos would have used our resources to provide basic amenities for our people. They are not as greedy as we are. Those who rushed to gain independence had an ulterior motive....selfishness!
The best comment i have ever seen in nl. Sad but true comment!
Men! am voting this guy's comment as Best Comment on Nairaland 2018!.

Which food is cheap in Makurdi?!

Food is annoyingly expensive in Makurdi oooo. Forget its slogan. Houses too are expensive.

Minna is way less expensive to stay than Makurdi.
I laugh when I hear people say the standards of living in Makurdi is cheap. I schooled in Benue , I virtually bought all my food stuffs from Abuja every semester, that was 13yrs ago...

Kaduna should be on that list ASAP

True Ilorin is cheap, but there are no jobs around. If you start ur private business, they bargain for petty prices, u get frustrated.

i tell you. hes talking about cheap states and there is hardly any northern state in his list.
i have lived in ibadan, and i have visited 80% of the states he put there. non compares with jigawa where i live presently in terms of cost. not even kano. bauchi is very cheap too.

this your research is very poor. what index did you compare to arrive at your result. i would have expected you to analyze as follows
housing, you compare self content prices within cities, as well as two bedroom, three bed room flat. what is the cost on one room in a public yard??
Then transport, drop per bus taxi or keke is how much??
food, a plate of food in a decent restaurant is how much

hotel accommodation, what is the room rates of the best hotels in these cities.
then using regression analysis you find out the result

Things in Makurdi is generally very expensive, especially house, food and material things. Makurdi should be removed from that list.
