Lol. This man thinks by this statement he's won the heart of the US, strengthening the idiootic belief that whoever the US supports in any country's presidential elections wins. Nothing could be more hilarious than this.
And that's not to even mention the fact that the US under Trump is currently anti-LGTB.

Morality should never be excused from the business of governance and legislation. Countries like the US, UK and much of Europe who think they could successfully do that without consequences, are now being confronted with the inevitable. One of such is the proliferation of war-field guns in the hands of the bulk of the citizenry and the daily shootings that happen as a result - in schools, night clubs, malls, etc. Another gullible African who equates the US to heaven. Banned from the US for making a social media comment in the support of my country, and so? Such gullibility. grin

Your assertions are very strange.

Even the US does not believe that whoever it supports wins an election. Most often, it is undiplomatic to take sides in another country's election and that's what they do. I don't know where you got this your theories from. The most they do is to reject a candidate probably because the contestant has human rights abuses, corruption, drugs trafficking etc. They do not campaign or support candidates.

LGBT rights and abortion have something very similar: people either live in denial that they happen or are exteremely ignorant of the size of the problem and think a ban resolves things.

You probably have friends or acquaintances who are gay. It is never written on the forehead. I know you'll say God forbid but it is the blunt truth.

I realised this when a friend of mine who I'd know for about 10 years opened up he was gay. I'd never have guessed because he is so masculine. Actually, majority of male gays are actually masculine and not effeminate.

If you want to meet a gay, go to a gym. Many important people in our society are gay only they are in the closet.

Who told you that gun violence is the punishment for supporting LGBT rights? We live in the Last Days and the bible has long predicted that things will advance from bad to worse and that is simply what we are seeing today (2 Cor 3:1-5, 13)

As long as we live in a world controlled by Satan, expect these things (1 John 5:19). Christians are only supposed to preach to people and if they refuse, wipe the dust of your feet and leave the house. End of story.

Picking of gays is simply bullying. Why not pick on fornicators, or drunks and greedy people the same way. Don't they have the same disapproval with God (1 Cor 6: 9-11)? Picking on a vulnerable minority is hypocritical and wrong.

Like it isn't obvious to the discerning why you wouldn't. I'm not homophobic but your statement clearly shows how far detached you have become from the mainstream Nigeria/Nigerians to what their immediate problems truly are.

How would you know what Nigerians are on about when your daughter's recent wedding was even outsourced to the Swiss.

I wonder what the LGBT population in Nigeria is that you are trying to appease to, even if that was a pressing issue.

A politician like you should have known what topics to not even broach but as a DL you sure couldn't.

You just shot yourself on the foot to your over religious Nigerians.

This continent as in most other things is yet to develop to the extent where sexuality or abortions becomes election issues. QED

In a sane and developed clime it shouldn't be a crime. But like they say "This is Nigeria".

The honest truth is, we are still worlds behind in comparison to the western world in every facet.

I am liberal...

Sir, you just lost my vote. 1. For having any semblance of sympathy whatsoever for the LGBT cause and 2. For not being smart enough to feel the pulse of Nigerians concerning the issue. And you call yourself a presidential hopeful. undecided

Duke has no good advisers. Nigeria is a conservative hypocritical nation.

Irrespective of your opinion on gays, keep it to yourself. Just say you will follow the constitution/law.

You cannot even get 5% of Northern vote with this attitude. Even in the South, most women will not for vote for you.

Over 75% of our women depend on men for survival. Now you want to encourage gay. cheesy cheesy grin grin

You are a perfect example of an iberiberic homosepian. Whatever you are is your own cup of tea. Don't bring your problem for the world to see. Everyone should carry their cross and head straight to where you think you can get help.

Are Nigerians this dumb?

A presenter asked a guest some questions and he provided an answer and you guys are belly aching about it being a non-issue.

In the West, such questions are germane in the build up to the polls.

An aspirant to a political office is asked about his views on LGBT, climate change, abortion, economy, migration, genetically modified foods,green/renewable energy etc.

This platform should be a learning ground for most of us but it's been turned to a theatre of folly and unbridled atavism by hare-brained Nairalanders.

fabinfos:
Former Cross River State governor, Donald Duke has said he won’t criminalize gay Nigerians is President.

He made this known in a recent interview with Falz and Laila on the viral show ‘On The Couch’ saying;

‘I think we are an under-performing and under-achieving nation and the basis of our problem is poor leadership’.

On the issue of the highly contentious special anti robbery squad (SARS) and if he would scrap the agency, the presidential aspirant said categorially, “Of course I would. Because I do not subscribe to the force where people carry arms and they’re not in uniform.”

Donald Duke went on to bring up the issue of LGBT rights in Nigeria saying

“I don’t understand the emotional feelings a gay person would have toward someone of their sexuality. I don’t understand it. But I would not criminalise them. I would ensure that they have the protection of the law. But if they want to exhibit their sexuality, then that’s an affront on the current norms of society.”
“Can you have a gay person in your cabinet?” Laila asked. “His sexuality is private to him,” the former governor answered. I don’t want to know if he’s gay. It’s not my business. My business is if he can perform the assignment that he’s been assigned.”

With this statement he has already lost.
Nigerians, although suffering and languishing in poverty, always love to point fingers at some people and say "hey, at leat we're better than them.". Gays are the scapegoat GEJ chose.
It's funny that before the 14 year thing these people existed amongst us and weren't an issue.
With this statement he has automatically removed something Nigerians can throw curses at to distract their sorrows. His campaign is dead on arrival.

Another thing is he has said nothing concrete. Before people enter power here they claim and claim, promise and promise -- when they enter they change tune quick, slowing down to carry action while giving excuse upon excuse.
Give me PMB again, these clowns are unserious.
