Nigerian educational system is a destiny destroyer

such is life...

At least, he's being truthful to himself.

Studying anything related to engineering/IT in a Nigerian university is a waste of time.

Studying any ITC in Nigeria tertiary institution is a total waste of time and resources. The IT institution I used to tutor before most Computer science grad who enroll in can't even operate computer, talk more of scripting. I was like WTF waste years. If you consistently go through tutorials on Lynda for just 3months you'll be better than most of them Naija Computer Science grads.

Nigeria educational system has been all about cramming.

well i dont Know about u guys or the university in question. But courses like cyber security, information and media technology and computer science are taken seriously in FUTMINNA. Even though we lack equipments and other amenities for praticals,.

am studying info tech in futminna and i can tell you am learning quite alot it might not be top notch but compared to other institutions

Don't blame the educational system,blame yourself.This is computer science,you don't even need to go to the university to learn your craft.The same applies overseas; serious students there still are largely responsible for their own independent development in this field.No other courses,I believe,offers such opportunity.

Technically correct especially if u plan to work for yourself bt if you intend to get a regular 9/5 job u mostly need the degree not just IT certifications.
Also he probably didn’t do his Internship cos that is meant to expose you to the the practical sides of the course.

He actually want to be a Software engineer without Background knowledge!
