THIS IS THE MOST WRONG GENERALISATION I'VE READ ON NAIRALAND SO FAR.

It annoys me when I hear Christians brand JW with extreme names. Most times, the church members of those who label them as wicked are by far more wicked than the J Witnesses. That has been my observation.

The fact is, because they go about preaching to others, people have excessively high moral expectations of them, so when they commit any sin, it becomes news and it is blown out of proportion as is the case with pastors in churches.

If a pentecostal steals sth, chances are the theft will not be linked to his church, but let
a JW steal even the smallest thing. People will start saying 'JW don go thief' and the news will spread fast.

Now, is their fault that they preach from door to door? It is a directive from the Bible. The fact that other churches hardly obey it does not mean JW are doing the wrong thing. The fact that everyone EXCEPT Noah's family believed God would destroy the world did not make it wrong for Noah to hold on to his belief.

I AM NOT A JW but I have them all around me and I understand them so I can speak about them objectively.

You might label them what you like but today if I'm looking for a trustworthy, Christ-like person to employ to handle a position of trust in this endemically corrupt nation, I would gladly interview and employ a dedicated JW, not just anyone attending their meetings because not all are J Witnesses. Some are only aspiring. Talk about ambitious Comrados. JW are one of the extremely few churches with the most honest people. Take it or leave it.

Whatever does not mean just anything. One certainly will not rejoice with someone who rejoices in doing wrong things neither should doing wrong things be done for God's glory.

Who said christians should celebrate paganism? What fellowship has light with darkness? Can't a believer celebrate and rejoice with a fellow believer to the glory of God?

The only records of birthday celebrations in the Bible was done by two people who were not Gods worshipers they worshiped pagan n age celebrations had pagan origins. Remember John the Baptist knew king Herod but he didn’t attend the kings birthday but instead he lost he’s head because of that birthday. We are Christians meaning Christlike n we are to follow Christ steps closely. So if Jesus didn’t celebrate n never ever mentioned it n he’s disciples didn’t the first century Christians didn’t why should we today as Christians do so knowing fully it’s origin wasn’t from God. when we wake every morning, we rejoice and thank god for the gift of life (sufficient reason): to me, that's daily celebration. That of birthday is just being hyped because it's marks the day we were sent to earth for god's missions, and it's to his glory.

Lols they didn’t but I can tell u Dey have sports n other means of communication, these things are not linked to religious beliefs, yes Jacob courted before he got married he served in he’s in laws house for years that’s a type of courting because he’s intentions were known n at least during those years they got to know each other better. They didn’t have cars Dey have donkeys, horses, bulls etc for transport These are normal daily activities n not religious things. It’s like asking me if King Herod n John the Baptist used plates to eat or If Jesus and early Christians wore shoes. because we all know both pagan n Christians do these things in other to survive. But things regarding religious practices can never be mingled together. Birthdays were not celebrated by Christians only pagan celebrated it as only recordings we have in the Bible no Christian was recorded to celebrate it. So why should we as Christians do it? As u have said u can not mix darkness wit light. Gods things are always Gods things and their origin is from God that’s those God approve of. In fact Pharoah considers himself a god. The only command Jesus gave us to celebrate is he’s DEATH. Not even he’s resurrection but he’s death.

Mayb u should go and celebrate a traditional festival linked to u as a person n still really consider urself doing it as something of Christ. Haba. No one is sayin u should be sad on the day u turn a year older.

To d glory of which god? certainly not 2 d true God Yahweh. If d person is believer of d truth, he/she stand out thus not taking part in such celebrations as d pagans google d lores of birthday. The Yahweh's words reports unfavorably abt birthdays celebrations, thus true believers of d true God Yahweh shun it.

so tell me why is it that JW hates praying whenever they go for preaching in people's house or why is it that they only choose a short verse to hit their point but when you read like three verses around that same verse you will see that the teaching is not the same... what I mean is they might tell you to read verse 3 only but when you later read verse 1 to 3 or 2 to 4, you will find out another different thing from their intended teaching?
