Nope. My point is for someone that got into Stanford, he shouldn't be discouraging people because the school is 'competitive'. He is already implying that the applicant is not good enough hence suggesting schools of a lower-tier. I find it absurd. Are we going to The US through school or are we going to School in the US?

Hello Guys. I guess everyone has settled in ? For those still trying to getting admission and funding, don't give up. Those of us who have benefited from here will do our best in helping others too.

By the way,I did change my school to Stanford. Remember the guy I was always mailing at Stanford? He was able to get funding for me as one of his prospective students left for Cambridge in the UK. So I'm super elated and glad. Though I wasted some money processing stuff to go to TAMU, I'm optimistic going to Stanford is worth it.

Easy man! You missed the point. Nowhere did Quoran discourage Schrodinger1 from applying to the aforementioned schools. Depending on one's profile, grad school selection can be ambitious, moderate or safe.

Thanks Boss scholastica16, the application will be mixture of Msc&PhD. I've contacted Profs. In UMass, Texas(Austin) and Oregon.
Will be putting in for more schools but the Hard copy transcript before admit is my worry.

Except for schools with rolling admission, I think the applications are over for the Fall semester seeing that some schools have already resumed.

If it's for UT at Austin (Fall 2019), application has started already. Most departments will close shop December 1.

To be honest, your profile is strong but I am not so sure about your GRE and TOEFL scores. I am glad you want to rewrite.

I don't know so much about your course of study, but with a good GPA (which you already have), GRE&TOEFL (as demanded), LoRs, SoP, and others, you'll get funding for your PhD programme. Like they always say here, it's a sin to pay for your PhD yourself.

There are many STEM students here, I hope they come all out to help you with safe schools you can apply to. You also have to keep researching. Don't forget to email the department's coordinators also to find out about funding.

You appreciate DanjaNinja for creating the thread on a public platform yet you want to take your contributions to a private one.


This move is ill thought, why do we like making things hard for ourselves? If DanjaNinja started this thread on a (private)Whatsapp group how would you have benefitted from the resources? Besides, maintaining this group will provide opportunities for future students to garner some knowledge about the exam as Nairaland preserves content better than WhatsApp. In fact, opting for a WhatsApp group as opposed to using this thread will restrict access and openness.

I urge you and other folks thinking about a WhatsApp group to shelve this plan. Share your tactics here and let everyone benefit. If not for ourselves at least for the sake of posterity.

Our test date is far, and we cannot bother you good folks ahhhh till then with our chitchatting about the exam.
