Op u gave an account of ur version of the story, we have not heard d version from d other side . who knows if you fabricated this inorder to generate widespread condemnation and hatred for doctors. Its difficult for one to give a verdict since we didn't hear from d doctors who you accused. U said u threatened the doctor, but u were later frustrated. Ur lack of courtesy and intimidation probably turned d doctor off. Meanwhile Nigerian doctors make sacrifices and save lives on a daily basis yet no one comes to testify of such all because of hatred |

Jokerman:UBTH has one of the best Accident and emergency centers in Nigeria. They don't act Like this and even if their services are not like those in the western world, they still try when compared with those of other government hospitals. |

BEWARE: People are trying their best to tarnish the image of our noble doctors in Nigeria. We all know that as ur victories escalate ur enemies do. the driving force for people writing an articles like this include 1.They are members of JOHESU(nurses, radiographers, lab scientists etc) who are want to becoms CMD's in hospital, image a clerk with a degree in business admin fighting to become chief judge 2.The met quack doctors posing as real doctors without having an MBBS degree or a license 3.Doctors aren't prophets or messengers most of them are kind nd polite but very few are aggressive. its unfair to use these few to condemn all doctors |

Doctors should be more humane, however social media should also present how ungrateful some patients are which makes it for doctors to care. Here is a thread of one of such scenarios crated 4 months ago but never made home page. We should not be one sided abeg https://www.nairaland.com/4439253/reason-why-private-hospitals-termed Lalasticlacla Seun |

Some people are just beasts in human skin. Imagine saying he doesn't accept POS payments or bank transfer and allowing an innocent accident victim to die. Shouldn't such a doctor be reported to NMA and MDCN for displinary action? What exactly are they learning in medical schools? On another note, please all the government fund allocation to the health sector, what exactly is it being used for? I once accompanied my late elder brother to UNTH, Enugu for an X-ray. We were told that the only X-ray machine in the hospital broke down, that we should come another day. Last year, my late dad needed an MRI scan, we had to go to a private hospital -memfys hospital in Enugu because NAUTH teaching hospital in Awka does not have the machine. What exactly are government funds budgeted for the health sector being used for? |

worlexy:Keep waiting for comprehensive government insurance. No workable insurance is absolutely free. Let the government ask for insurance premium of just #5 today from all citizens and same people like you will be out castigating it for trying to wreck the country. Let's stop stop putting personal responsibilities on the government because even if there was an insurance policy in place, it can't be automatic and not everyone will register. #DoWhatIsRightAsAcitizen #LetsStopTheBlameGame |

I commend your efforts Gracesofar:You don't need to hate doctors, and BTW your fiancee will soon become one. So there's some love there in you for doctors. Additionally, doctors and military and the paramilitary cooperate very well. Having said the above, what you witnessed is just a show of the deplorable state of our healthcare system. In the previous post bashing doctors, someone mentioned about using 5% or so of our national budget to run the healthcare sector (against a minimum recommendation of 15% by African Union), that every sector cannot get all they need. It is unfortunate for the accident victim, and I can guess the doctors you met in those private hospitals (at night) were jnr doctors and not necessarily the owners of the hospital. Meaning they take instructions from the boss,as you would from a General. The doctors you might be 'hating' may actually be empathetic but cannot do much due to the PRIVATE hospital POLICY. I guess that's why you were directed to a government hospital. Also there could have been past experiences of abandoning bodies in the hospital without any trace of relatives. This can pose health risks especially when the hospital has no morgue or preservation methods. There's a way out of this kind of situations and which can also make hospitals treat patients with or without deposits. And that is HEALTH INSURANCE. Everybody should have a health insurance, either from your working place or privately. OP, if you had brought an army or uniform man, he would be given treatment because if something eventually happens and he couldn't survive, the army or police will still pay the bills, right? That uniform alone is showing you the way insurance can work if the hospital's know that their resources and efforts will be rewarded. Again, I feel sorry for the deceased/family commend your efforts that night. Do not hate any healthworker. The healthcare sector needs reform. |

Jaqenhghar:just look at how you're displaying your ignorance in public. Every country conducts exams for foreign doctors. Even if US, UK or Canadian trained medical doctors are coming to practice in Nigeria, they will need to pass MDCN exams first, or do u think they will just get license like that. Your posts so far reek of nothing but hatred, envy and bitterness for doctors, it's not their fault that your childhood dreams to become a doctor were mercilessly crushed by JAMB. If u wan b doctor, u know what to do, take d next jamb form or u keep quiet and jump into the lagoon. Rubbish!!!! All your rants will not change the fact that Nigerian doctors are one of the most sort after international medical graduates abroad. Cry for the next 2000 years, it won't change anything. Now run along.... |

worlexy:You can just imagine oh! The doctor did all her best to save her life and even went ahead to improvise but Nigerians still went ahead to ridicule the doctor and totally forgot about the irresponsible police that shot her. That's Nigerians for you. I only pity the gullible doctors that still prefer to remain in this shîthole, na dem go suffer am pass. They can only try this shít with private hospitals wet no get mouth. Can they carry such px to Eko hospital, Reddington or St. Nicholas and yapping rubbish about Hippocratic oath without depositing money first? Those ones will even size you up first b4 you pass through the gate and na from there dem go sned you comot. Nigerians always flexing muscle on the weak. |
