They are confusing religion with Education. Religion, no matter how much you practice it, can never take the place of Education. He advocated for the use of indigenous language in teaching of Engineering and Medicine. I am now asking, which indigenous language exactly? because the last time i checked, Nigeria has over 300 languages, unfortunately, arabic is not one. Even if we narrow the languages to three most popular languages, which one should be adopted? Government does not run religion.

The issue is about considering those who think reading and writing in any language other than English makes one an illiterate.
And sadly, even the supposedly educated ones are following this line of thought with facts to reason.

Since Nigeria has adopted English language as its official language, learning an Arabic or reading Quran off heart does not make you literate. Let us not confuse religion and education. they are two opposite poles.

And for those of you trying to base literacy on the ability to recite and read koran, you should also advocate for koran to be used in solving Quadratic Equation and many other things, including writing Computer Software programs. You guys want to be more Muslims than even the Arabs. No wonder Nigeria remain a backward country.

If the federal Government is really serious about fishing out the sponsors of the deadly Boko Haram , i think without missing my words Sanusi is one.
If at this era in Nigeria Sanusi is clamoring for the Amajiri education i think he should be regarded as Boko Haram.
This is a man that sturded in one of the best school in the world. He did not go to Amajiri school .
Why is that the learned in the North will not like the poor people in the North to be educated? The answer is very simple: so that they will continue to dominate them and order them around like slaves.
God will judge everyone of you that has hands in the killings of the innocents in the North just to establish Armajiri education and to abolish western education.
Today, you are the Emir of kano . you speak English as if you are a Briton. Why can't you be speaking arabic in your dealings?
God will surely judge you Sanusi as i can see your fingers in Boko Haram activities.

Is this a joke? Is this real or is he joking? Nigeria is an English speaking country. The fact over 50% of North can not speak English does make them an illiterate. Why do we always have to dummy down Ourselves just to compensate for North ignorance. There's not a single tribe in Nigeria that spoke English before whites colonized us but we all in the South learned it the same time both South and North was exposed to it. It's our lingua franca. We do not need to redefine the definition of literacy just to appease North's incompetence. Northern Nigeria is a disaster and a curse. Nigeria will never with North as part of it's sovereignty. We are doomed.

I support Emir Sanusi on this one. Islamic Education was the foremost form of education in Nigeria way before the Europeans came to our land.

Lagos State government has got it right too.

It is a pity we equate an educated person based on the quality of English he can speak. English is not our language, it is a borrowed language.
And this to me is one of the strongest effect of colonialism still enslaving us. We must uphold our languages.

You need to write a math text in Yoruba or a medical text in Igbo and have it standardized first before y'all start clamouring for teaching in indigenous language. We waste our time on unnecessary policies too much in this country.
