Dear All

Since I joined this forum a couple of months ago, I have been very impressed with the conversations we have been having here. People have maturely disagreed on issues and have peacely moved on when we could not reached a consensus.

We are here to assist each other's to achieve our dream of furthering our education and creating a better future for ourselves.

Please lets us continue with the same spirit instead of insulting ourselves.

Good day House. Please I am considering the possibility of changing my school to University of Saskatchewan for a masters program in Finance with a second class upper division. Please i need advise esp from those who have gotten admission from this school. Does University of Saskatchewan make GMAT mandatory for graduate programs and if advance payment of fee is a prerequisite for issuing acceptance letter. Will be highly grateful for your response.

Thanks be to the Almighty God & you all on this forum for your help. I applied for the Canadian Student Permit on October 2017 for a PGD at Medicine Hat College & I was denied on November 2017.
After coming across this forum I reapplied this time with a different school Thompson Rivers University for Fall 2018 MBA program. This is my timeline:

Filled all IMM forms
Submitted passport data page and picture.
Statement of Purpose was 3 pages in which I detailed why I was going for an MBA after doing an MSc in Petroleum in Aberdeen(United Kingdom) and why I chosed Canada.
1 page for Dad’s funds use authorisation
22 pages including scans of tuition payment, countries visited(UK, France, Tunisia), undergraduate & postgraduate degrees, siblings birth certificates & mine, dad’s passport, my current & previous passport

Applied online: July 15th
Medical Call: August 6th
Did my medicals on: August 7th
Medicals got updated to passed on: August 15th
Passport request dropped on: August 31st

Right now I’m a little bit late for the school resumption so I don’t know wether the school will defer me or not. I’ve written to them. I’m hoping to start this September.

Thanks to everyone for the SOP reviews and advice along the way.

Guys, I got 2 admissions into 1. University of Toronto - Economics (1year)
2. Schulich School of Business (York University) - MBA (2years)

While applying for my TRV, I used my admission credentials for UoT to get my TRV, now I would be leaving on the 7th of September. Hypothetically asking, should I go to York University and discard my admission to UoT, due to the duration of 2 years, which is a longer stream....,,,will there be consequences for this?

Remember this is a hypothetic question. Honest answers pls.

No consequences. You can change schools easily before you start by accessing your online profile and enacting that change now or immediately after you get to Canada. By the way congrats, two equally impressive schools to get into. You can’t go wrong either way you go!

Congrats! It is not too late. Most schools including TRU allow two weeks late arrivals. If I were in your shoes, I would make it this September. It’s glaringly obvious you were denied because of PGD before and all it took to change the story line is to apply for a masters. I have long championed this path here!

They work everyday all around the clock. They are an army strong comprising thousands of VOs around the world perusing documents and scrutinizing them. People in the past here have received updates at weird hours and even have been approved on Sundays!

Yea, her first application was refused cos of PGD simply cos she already had MASTERS, So going for PGD does not show Career progression. We have seen several peeps here of recent getting their Visa with PGD, so theres nothing bad applying with PGD. In her case PGD cant work for her, that was why she got her TRV with an MBA.

PGD is harder to get than masters as masters is harder to get than PHD. Many even without a previous masters, just switch from PGD to masters and effect the same result the woman you describe got.

Buh seriously I dont want PGD applicants to get discouraged by dis idea of making PGD look so difficult. My point is that all applicants should just convince the VO that they are genuine students that will come back to their home country, na the koko b dt, Masters or no Masters. Not everybody can go for masters cos of their UG grade (Mostly 2:2), so PGD applicants shouldnt be discouraged cos as we all know recent approvals have been PGD applicants. And like I always say, the fastest application i have seen here was in 15 days and it was a PGD applicant.

Some online applications (like mine) are processed at the Accra visa office too...

Any information on how you reach the conclusion about Nairobi office and paper application?! Just curious!

Frankrobbn1:

Those that were slammed with a refusal after sending a CSE are paper route applicants and I must let you know that it's not because of the additional documents they sent that led to their immediate refusal, either it's probably the Visa officer in charge of their applications has already finalised/concluded with their applications. What I figured out was the CSE they sent only helped to fast track a response to their application decision, but never attributed to their refusal.

In regards your question, all paper applications are currently treated at Nairobi. Majority of online applications are processed in London, while of them are hanled at Lagos visa office. Your long-waited (14 weeks) application is most likely to be processed at the London visa office, they are always slow in visa process. Fall terms are generally known as a peak period for every Canadian embassies across the globe, because all schools in Canada have resumption date for this term. So, getting a response during this "Rush" season is usually not an easy task for the visa officers. Hence, continue sending a CSE to them owing to the fact that your application has exceeded the normal processing times for Nigerian applicants. You will surely get a response from them!

Thanks segtak25. I got 2 years as the Economics program is for 16months. Apparently, the school has an option to finish in a year, if the student is quicker. Thanks for your reply
segtak25:

You can do that when you arrive at Canada since the two schools are based in Ontario.
I think you should mail CIC(when you arrive) , informing them on change of school and the duration.
Based on your explanation so far It seems you got a 1 year visa and 2 years from York will help you alot in terms of pgwp and the rest.

It's just an opinion based on what have been reading here so far.
Wait for others contribution on this.
