Hello guys,

Please is it too early to apply for Fall 2019 visa now.I have the admission letter and necessary documentation ready.

Is not too early, but I will suggest since you have alot of time, carefully do necessary research and package ur app well. No need to rush with so much time at hand. Once u feel u are 100% ready submit it.

Good day, please how can I cancel my visa application since the school has resumed and my admission has been terminated. I want to cancel my visa application so I don’t get denied. I have done my biometrics already and I hope that won’t affect anything. Thank you

Hello Nairalanders,

If you send an email to LAGOSIMMIGRATION@international.gc.ca and get a response does it mean that one's application is processed in Lagos?
I also sent to other locations, London and Accra but only Lagos office has responded.

Also what does '' your application is under active review'' mean?

goingforward.

kpizzle, that individual called me a liar after I respectfully asked a question

Yes that is what one has to deal with here on an anonymous forum. Sometimes a mark of maturity is moving on and not addressing them. And by so doing you would have never further given juvenile taunts a day here. Congrats on your achievements.

Nope getting a response from Lagos doesn’t mean that your application is processed there. Any office you send mail to has the discretion to look into your file and respond.

Active review means a decision is in the offings-imminent—about to happen!

Thanks be to the Almighty God & you all on this forum for your help. I applied for the Canadian Student Permit on October 2017 for a PGD at Medicine Hat College & I was denied on November 2017.
After coming across this forum I reapplied this time with a different school Thompson Rivers University for Fall 2018 MBA program. This is my timeline:

Filled all IMM forms
Submitted passport data page and picture.
Statement of Purpose was 3 pages in which I detailed why I was going for an MBA after doing an MSc in Petroleum in Aberdeen(United Kingdom) and why I chosed Canada.
1 page for Dad’s funds use authorisation
22 pages including scans of tuition payment, countries visited(UK, France, Tunisia), undergraduate & postgraduate degrees, siblings birth certificates & mine, dad’s passport, my current & previous passport

Applied online: July 15th
Medical Call: August 6th
Did my medicals on: August 7th
Medicals got updated to passed on: August 15th
Passport request dropped on: August 31st

Right now I’m a little bit late for the school resumption so I don’t know wether the school will defer me or not. I’ve written to them. I’m hoping to start this September.

Thanks to everyone for the SOP reviews and advice along the way.

The counterfoil is the visa itself stamped on your passport, usually required of all foreign nationals not exempted from visa requirements. The counterfoil indication simply means you are from such a nation. The document does not guarantee entry into Canada. It only means you meet to the requirements of a visa and have been granted permission to travel to Canada, final determination to be made by an officer at POE. The expiration you see is usually the validity period of your visa. I won’t worry if I were you. The correspondence letter will arrive or to expedite its arrival, you may want to send an email to the office that processed your visa. Mighty congrats!

Exactly the same information I got from a friend over there. I wonder where the so called IDP came into place!

In Quebec, As a student you can drive with your valid Nigeria driver’s license for the duration of your studies. PR need an IDP and their license to drive.

Sorry about your previous denials, I declare you get your TRV this third time IJN..... Please why did you apply for a pgd program, was it due to your undergraduate grade? And what made you qualify for a masters degree this time...? Please shed more light... Thanks.

You can stay silent and wait for them to decide your application. If they want to give you, they will request new admission letter. If they do that, you can contact the school and inform them that the high commission wants to give you a visa. When they hear that, they will reissue you new admission letter or tell you to reapply for admission again.

Mine was online through an agent in Canada. Praying for a positive update soon too. Resumption is still a-ways to go; January 2019.

This your persistence Na wa oh! If you are not married perhaps with kids, siblings are not very strong ties to CIC. Even parents are not considered very strong ties except you have a unique role to play in their lives. Perhaps they have properties or significant wealth and investment that you stand to inherit from them or you are the first child of your family and culturally occupy unique role in the family tied to place. All the people on scholarship been approved that are not married, it’s not siblings they are using as home ties. It’s their academic promise. CIC considers them the most likely to make a difference in their society and therefore the most likely to keep the rules of returning to their father’s land and helping to develop it. Plain and simple.

You stated you have property. Get it evaluated along with your new application. If the amount is hefty in the millions, CIC will consider it significant to induce your return. Explain better your circumstances to them in a SOP like you explained to me. Sometimes good writing and effective communication makes a big difference on how a VO responds to an application.

And like I already reiterated to you several times, your best chances as I see it given your denial based on the finding of not having strong ties and asset, is to concentrate on explaining your job prospect in Nigeria after graduation. If you think you have strong family ties and assets and perhaps they missed it, bring it up again. Best of luck and may God’s favor go your way!
