South African woman, Sakhe Feketshane has shared the story of how her husband abused her emotionally before he got physical and eventually ran over her with his car.

'This time he did not lay a finger on me however he ran me over with his car. We had an arguement and he went straight to his car, as i tried to speak to him, to try and resolve issue. He reversed his car. I fell and hit my head on the pavement' she said.

I've been with my husband for more than 10 years. He used to be so caring and over protective. Little did i know it was more of jealousy than anything. He would go to my workplace and demand that i introduce him to my colleagues. I had to tell him everything i did, where im going and why i did things. I always thought this is love and maybe one day he will change and realize that i love only him. He would demand things to be done, the way he wants and when he wants.

It was all emotional abuse before it got physical. I took him to many counselling sessions but he would always undermine the counsellors and say they know nothing about marriage. A year ago we were in the car with two of my friends. He started an argument, because he didnt like me having friends. We got outside of the car to talk. He burst out with anger and started beating me.

With fist and i fell so he started kicking me. Three men came to my rescue and beat him too. He then went to police station to say i did that to him. Police were confused and told us to sort it out. I forgave him as he promised it would never happen again. Proclaimed his love for me and i believed him. Months went by and he still was his old forcefull self. Still i hoped he would change.

Now this time Yes he did not lay a finger on me however he ran me over with his car. We had an arguement and he went straight to his car, as i tries to speak to him, to try and resolve issue. He reversed his car. I fell and hit my head on the pavement. He drove away and people stopped him to ask why is he driving away after knocking someone over. All he said was where? its not my fault she tried to jump into the car. Jump into a car..?? I tried to talk to him.

Now yes he did not beat me he just tried to kill me. Abuse is a serious issue and the percentage of women being killed through it is high. I choose to speak out and leave before its too late. Because he never sees anything wrong with his actions or admits he was wrong. So one day he will kill me and see nothing wrong or even worse deny it like hes doing now.

You made alot of assumptions when you were writing this comment.

You assumed I consider Nigerian men superior to South African black males, which is wrong ... I merely compared the south African cblack make against globally expected standard as regards how a well adjusted male should behave.

You assumed I regard the black south African makes as inferior to the white makes , no I don't only in behaviour towards women and children. I was precise in this.

You went in to assume I suffer from a.sort of low self-esteem induced mental slavery syndrome? You are wrong in this assumption

Again, calling a whole nation of men animals is generalisation , that could be said about us by just visiting nairaland first page daily , plenty of stories of us beating , burning , raping both children and women . A South African who reads these on a daily would assume nigerian men are animals if he is of the low iq range like some people here who just throw blanket statements anyhow. I don't base things on hearsay , I've lived in Nigeria all my life till adulthood so I know the way our society treats and regards child and women abuse. You can't compare that to South Africa, what we seem as normal in Nigeria is a criminal offence here. I have lived in South Africa long enough to know that if Nigeria was South Africa then 80%of our guys would either be on parole for "rape "or "abuse" or in jail for these . I'm not basing my comments on hearsay or silly threads I've seen on nairaland , I'm too far gone for that rubbish, I'm talking from living and working amongst both nationalities for years. South African men are just too unnecessarily violent,just what is biting them?

They are xenophobes,racists,rapists and murderers-I mean many of them, not all pls.
I heard about 6 or 7 years ago that at least 1 in 4 south African women has been raped AT LEAST ONCE!!!!
CAN'T THEY JUST GET MARRIED AND LIVE A NORMAL LIFE FOR ONCE INSTEAD OF ALL THESE NEEDLESS VIOLENCE, ESPECIALLY against women (battery, rape,mugging,etc) or children (girls-as in rape ,abuse etc)?
