LuciferKristi:Buhari put us in recession and still increased fuel price to N145 from N87 instead of the N40 promised. The lifeless illiterate is only happy to make us hungry, jobless and killed by his Fulani herdsmen after demobilising his Boko Haram terrorists briefly. Buhari is a monumental error of gargantuan proportions that must be corrected in 2019. |

Venezuela's economy is in freefall. Hyperinflation, power cuts, and food and medicine shortages are driving millions of Venezuelans out of the country. Arguably the biggest problem facing Venezuelans in their day-to-day lives is hyperinflation. The annual inflation rate reached 83,000% in July, according to a recent study by the opposition-controlled National Assembly. Prices have been doubling every 26 days on average. This has resulted in many Venezuelans struggling to afford basic items such as food and toiletries. Pictures should tell how living there looks like |

oladele00:They said that APC and Buhari will reduce fuel price to N40 in 2015! Instead they increased it to N145. PDP had it at N87, they complained and abused them. Are we not worse off under Buhari and APC? Oil slump: Bring down fuel price immediately, Fashola tells FG |

The main reason why Nigeria is on that list is because of our terrible exchange rate against the dollars and other currencies. The naira has fallen so low that our currency is as good as a toilet roll. If you really want to know how cheap our fuel is, calculate the average income of a Nigerian against the cost price of Pms, and boom, your answer will just appear. Mumu Country |

theoldpretender:Honestly I tried to understand what you were trying to say but couldn't. You agreed we import the finished product of the raw material we produce and you still don't blame the government? The freight, the insurance and others shoot up the price and you are not seeing the evil hands of the government on it? Or don't you know that we import from Soa Tome where Nigerians own private refineries? Nigerians are a sorry people. How many of the countries listed above export oil? Useless country! |

Government policies drive the economy of a nation. When good policies are implemented then nobody has to live in poverty. Over here a litre of petrol cost 607 Naira but it doesn’t affect anyone because a basic non-professional worker earns 577,500 Naira monthly after tax full time whilst professionals earn above 847,000 Naira after tax. And it will cost around 77,000 Naira for monthly cost of fuel to and fro your job if you drive 5 days a week. So if Nigerians are going to have atleast HALF the standard of living mentioned above, then mathematically nobody should earn below 70,000 Naira monthly after tax with the current pump price of petrol. 2800 Naira daily salary 350/hr Until then it is safe to say more than 70% of Nigerians are living in poverty. |

Even America and UK we usually use when making references didn't make it to this list but I am sure the critics will not see it. |

Reality: lots of countries with more expensive petrol have lower wages than Nigeria. I have done some travel recently, even within Africa and every time I convert the pump price, it's always shocking. Petrol subsidy as well as non economic prices for electricity, gas etc would continue to be a major impediment to the economy. When Dangote's refinery is completed, he might need to export almost all his production because we would not pay the economic value....except government subsidises it. No refinery (planning to be sustainable and deliver value to shareholders) would deliver petrol at 145 per liter. Even if you converted very drop of a barrel of crude into petrol; at current market prices, you can't deliver it at 145. Unfortunately, until we have a government we can trust, no point removing the subsidies because the gains end up in private pockets. Even the oil rich Arab nations that historically boasted about cheap petrol have dropped off the list. An easy way to tell; Venezuela is best on the list with the about worst economy in the world right now. [Qquote author=LuciferKristi post=71049232]It's not about the cost. It's whether the citizens can afford it. Most Nigerians survive on less than $1 daily, how many can afford fuel at its current cost?[/quote] |

Fuel is the cheapest in Venezuela. I am not surprised that Venezuela is now bankrupt. The FG needs to stop subsidising fuel. The savings should be invested in efficient mass transit system like metro railway system instead. |

poseidon12:My guy you've got no idea! We sell all our crude to outsiders and buy the refined products hence the high price / talks of subsidies. Do you ho much NIMASA / NPA charge an import tanker? Hundreds of thousands of dollars which is usually added to the produce as "landing cost" borne by innocent Nigerians due to the wickedness of our rulers. Imagine you harvest cassava and sell same to your neighbour who turns same to garri. Do you think he'll sell to you at the price you desire? |
