Buterflyle0:Actually your way of thinking shows that of a child( this is not an insult) $322M of Abacha loot was returned some months ago and the 'capital' project was to share it to the 'poor'. What is wrong using the $322M Abacha loot for ' CAPITAL PROJECTS ' They prefer to borrow about same amount of money for capital project. Does that make sense? 1 Like |

Ehiscotch: Pls close your mouth and learn from my point below. The government can grow our revenue to finance capital projects but the problem is that, for the government to grow our revenue through non oil and non tax sectors, the public officials will have to forfeit stealing the money meant to grow the revenue which is something most of them can't do. |

DreamersVille24: The government do not need to depend so much on tax. Government should create a company tax heaven through economic free trade zones in every state with a promise that they should; generate more dollar inflows through export, reduce more imports which eats up our foreign reserve, create more jobs, invest in socioeconomic amenities and R & D. Government should then give yearly at least #300b as business grants to 100,000 graduates at a rate of #3m per graduate with a promise to give any graduate #30m in 10years time, if he or she is able to generate at least 10 jobs, pay staff income taxes and refund back to the government #6m before the end of 10years. Ehiscotch: Are you sure? Loans have interest that overtime, will grow into big debts if unserviced. I think its better to grow the economy and build from there than borrowing to build. My two cents 1 Like |

I don’t know why Nigerian politicise everything yet they personally patronise foreign goods for their own use. There is no way we can achieve major infrastructural feats without the help of those that have the capacity and expertise for the obvious reasons: we do not have the technical capacity and funds. It is then normal for u to borrow for specific infastructural projects. It’s that simple. The onus is to ensure that the monies are actually used for these projects so that jobs can be created and economic growth achieved for repayment. This is a good move. We need infrastructure to move forward and better our nation. There is no politics here. Personally I’d rather borrow from Japan than China cus they are often open when it comes to BOT. |

Some people say what is there to buil a railway? Some will say what is there to build a bridge or even a stadium. Have you seen a structure build by the Chinese or Japanese or Germans compared to those built by Nigerians? Don’t get me wrong. We have good engineers but to what extent can we compare with those foreigner mentioned above. Before you say anything, try to imagine yourself going to the market to buy a phone. You see made in Nigeria smart phone and made in US, Germany or even China at same price. Be honest with yourself, which will you choose? |

Ehiscotch: So why must you go into capital project when you know you are not generating enough and might not be there to pay the depth. I ask you, would you like to put your children in dept if you know you have few years left on earth.? What happened to all the recovered loot and why do you share the loot when you knew you have capital projects... This govt is just a jamboree |

EternalTruths: I mentioned many other sources of revenue generation bro, why the focus on tax? I understand your points however, all developed nations have tax as one of the major sources of revenue and we can't deny this fact. Cheers. |
