Dollars. And thanks.

5k dollars or #5k? If it is the former, let someone send it via DHL if no one is coming to your location soon. If it is the latter, go see your doctor.

Why do you want to lie. Not ideal and will put you in trouble.

Bro the truth is this...
u don't have to tell the VO that u didn't write any exam or that the school waved ur exam...please tell them u wrote those Exams...Its part of the criteria that tell them that u aren't a potential immigrant...so don't make that mistake...

Thanks for your response. I intend applying for msc in plant science at the university of Massachusetts amherst but they have these test listed as required in all their offered courses. Does this means I can just apply and ignore the GRE within as been required?? quote author=GboyegaD post=71206076]

GRE isn't compulsory however, it is good to write and ace it if you require funding as it helps in comparing students during admission and also, it is a way to start preparing mentally for graduate school. The idea of a cheap school shouldn't be too much of concern to you rather, I would say focus on schools that offer what you want and see how best you can benefit from their funding.[/quote]

To the gurus in the house,

Does anyone know how to get a waiver for the 2 year home residency that comes with a J1 visa?
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 14 by oladiran2(m): 3:36pm On Sep 15, 2018
Thanks a lot for your time, It's listed as part of requirements. Would send email to confirm more then since I noticed the requirements hasn't been updated for awhile but would also start preparing to write the GRE hopefully in October.
Spotlighte:

It's not compulsory to write any of the standardized exams especially if the schools you're applying to do not require them. So, it's on you to go through their websites and email messages to know how to go forward from here.

The thing here is that in some visa interview cases, it shows how serious that candidate is; and their preparedness to want to study. It boosts your chances of standing out when admission decisions are being made for funding.

Honestly, I'll suggest you write the germane exams. You might just need them when it's dire. You can use same GRE score for 5 years, TOEFL for 2 years.

Let me try to do this
First try to talk with more specifics

where are you going to in the US?
You are going to XYZ University in ABC, Minnesota. Just saying Minnesota does not cut it for me o. I mean the VO already had the information, because she has your i20 and your DS-160 you filled, so they have a reason for asking you this question

Secondly, your response to "What will this course do for you" is too weak. How will this course help you to get promoted in your workplace?? Obviously it's because of 'xyz' knowledge and 'abc' skills that you will be getting from the program. It's this 'xyz' knowledge and 'abc' skills that the VO wants to hear

Thirdly, to conquer stuttering, u need more practice. Practice before a mirror, get someone also going for interview and both of you can practice via watsapp call. Practice till your response becomes part of you.

"Finally, "What is your role at work"? You are the HOD is not a job function. And you can't remember what the rest rubbish you said?? These VOs are people that think too o, and they can smell lies too. The VO probably wanted to hear your job description. Do you climb poles at work, do you clean toilets?. These are what the VO was waiting to hear.

Your case is an open and close book. Your errors are glaring. You need to work on this and more embassy interview questions before you go near the embassy again
What about a case were your job description is not in line with your suppose course? How do one go about this?

Shaking my head at above .... So you are advising to just lie like that. What if the VO ask for evidence of the rest result? . N.a. wa ooo . Just stop it angry

It things like this that makes it harder for all and all these Administrative processing up and down.

If u yourself is genius, why are u so much concerned with Administrative processing when u know u have legit certified documents to prove ur true intention for travel...please don't be a pot calling kettle black...

Thats not an issue. It's not necessarily a requirement for F1. If asked tell the VO the same you told us

If they have it as a requirement for your intended course, then you MUST write the necessary one(s) unless they are waived for you.

Why don't you want to write any standardized test though?

Don't you think October is too close for adequate preparations?

You might need more time. Well, I don't know. You might be able to ace it within such little time, after all some Asians only prepare for 20 hours and are able to get great scores.

Cheers

Scared of it though, trying to look at the Feb 1 deadline for application for my course was why I was considering October.

February 1 isn't so far away as regards application processes but it's still enough time to finish your application.

You should look at dates in November or early December so that there are enough weeks to spare for sending your result to the school of your choice. Just start to gather your other application materials (LoRs, statement of purpose, etc) while reading for the GRE. The GRE is something you have to read properly for, unless you're okay with low scores or repeated writing.

You could register with B. Y Mafit (through a simple Google Search) or ponpon on this thread. They both subsidize the standardized tests fees.

Just breathe and take it one step at a time, okay?

@Brighem

It shouldn't be so difficult to admit it when you give out wrong advice. That's the higher way. Almost everyone here (including myself) has made such mistakes at one point in time and we all nicely admitted that the advice given was wrong. Just some few weeks back, I gave a wrong advice about the GRE and it was pointed out to me. I graciously accepted the correction. It's as easy and simple as that. Attacking someone because she pointed out a wrong advice isn't the right thing to do. Life is beautiful when we take the higher way.
