Something is obviously wrong with the population figures assigned to kano. Why is kano's "BIG" population not reflecting the real human subscriptions like in other states?

Top 5: LAGOS, OGUN, OYO.
If only Akinwunmi Adesina and a better technocrat will emerge to govern Ogun and Oyo, this two state will definitely give Lagos a good chase.

In summary: about 1/3 of Nigeria's active Telecommunication subscribers reside in the SW.

How can you compare voters registration to this? Voter apathy (which varies from state to state/region to region) alone is enough to discredit voters registration as a measure of population spread. You people are fond of rejecting anything that you feel does not favour your narrative. This data is by far more credible as a measure of population spread than voters registration because it captures a wider net. Voters registration data says Anambra has way less than the 4-million in this telecoms data (just a little over 2-million). Does that 2-million voter reg figure represent or capture the true population of your state? Be sincere with yourself instead of always dwelling on sentiments.

I understand that you lack the ability to reason rationally, but for the sake of others who may be reading this, I will try and embarrass you a little bit. Too bad that your views are inconsequential at the end of the day because the people that matter have taken note of these datas, and they know where to consult when it comes to decision-making that pertain to population spread. It's obvious that you have a personal grouse against Ogun state maybe because you feel threatened by the thought of its ascendency relative to your home state. undecided But let's deal with facts here, not sentiments. Your 2006 population census data is nonsense (and is no longer applicable) because it's more than a decade old, besides, Anambra population (4.2-million) was way more than Abuja/FCT back when the 2006 census was conducted (Abj was approximately 1.5-million in 2006), yet today Abuja has by far outstripped the same Anambra in its population growth. You apparently have no problem with Abuja population explosion since the last census, but are here masturbating and developing high-blood pressure over the fact that Ogun state that is just right next door to Lagos would experience a population explosion. It is clear that your real problem is your allergy to facts due to your egotism. It may be hard to swallow and you can even reject it, but there's nothing you can do about the facts in that telecoms data. undecided

That is why I said earlier that you are not a rational person, because your thought process is dictated by egotism and sentiments. I never said Anambra population was 'retrogressing'. But apparently it hasn't grown as astronomically as Ogun or Abuja for instance, and if you disagree, present any data that suggests otherwise. All states have increased in population, but by different margins depending on several factors. E.g, according to that telecoms data, even Delta, Edo, and Niger all have more active phone lines than Anambra today (Anambra was more populated than them according to the 2006 census), the real question should be WHY??. What is responsible or going on in Anambra that is causing such relatively low active voice subscription? Is it that you people don't have phones compared to other states? (Which is doubtful) Or you all don't conduct business with your phones? (I doubt this as well). Or you guys can't afford to buy credit to keep your phones active? (I consider this doubtful as well). Or is this just a reflection of the overall population that own and operate phones in the state? (Most likely!). Unless you are trying to say that the telecoms companies that own and supplied the data are biased against your people.

are you also saying Ogun is more populated than Kano, Kaduna, Oyo and Rivers state grin grin and please where are the population in Ogun

Look here, if I see convincing data that Ogun is today more populated than those states you listed, then so be it. I don't argue with facts. Let go of your ego and reason like an educated fellow (if indeed you are). Everything doesn't have to be about massaging your ego or your superiority complex.

Both of you are wrong. This data cannot determine real population as ogun is not more populated than Oyo or Kano. This data is affected by economic activities and education.

Voters registration can still be used to measure population but it also has it's shortcomings which is voters apathy and the incidence of under age voters in the north.

Only a credible census can provide real population, that is a given. But in the absence of a census since the past 12-years, this data comes closest of any other out there. If anything, it has been very consistent since its advent a few years back. Give or take, it represents a general and ballpark estimate of population spread across the states because cellphones have become an intricate part of our lives, even in the remote parts, whether you are an adult or a youth, if you have an active phone you will be captured in the data (if you like, add or deduct 1 or 2 million from each represented state, it won't make much of a difference).

If you ever been to the north, you would know that the north have many villages where there are no electricity, portable water and telephone network. I served in the north. This data can never do justice to northern population. Let's be realistic.

Maybe, but still.. it is as realistic as we can get, empirically speaking that is. Even virtually all the censuses ever held in Nigeria (including the 2006 one) have been mired in one form of controversy or another. But this is unbiased raw data from private firms (which are updated quarterly) that have no interest in all that crap. In the real world, this sort of data is what decision-makers rely on in the absence of credible census (as is the case with Nigeria), not conjectures or conspiracy theory laden rumours and innuendos.
