How would “restructuring” solve anything. Those “regions” have exactly what in common? They will start to again fight for irrelevant things 7 Likes 1 Share |

Regional Government? My bro,we have passed that argument..... Ibadan,Kaduna and Enugu used to be it then....with Lagos as Fed. Capital.. Restructuring now speaks of devolution of powers...where we begin to directly hold our leaders accountable from LG to FG.. So.....Regionalism...nah 9 Likes |

Too many states means ineffective with no massive capacity. Too many local governments and so they are simply ignored. The capital that went into state creation is why we have no light and roads and rail and Air and Seaports. It is the reason why we house the greatest number of extreme poor in the world despite our free flowing resources. As for regional capitals? Cross that bridge when you get there. 1 Like |

Let every region site its capital where it wants, what we really need first is to just go back to pre 1967 arrangement, the agreement signed at independence and all other things will fall in place. 6 Likes |

Chimok: It solves nothing. Even if u break Nigeria into local governments, we will still have differences. Not all villages in a local govt have things in common. We will still be fighting for mundane this like which village the regional leader actually comes from 7 Likes |

blackpanda: It will solve a lot Each region will grow at their own pace and will have no other option than to look inwards and be productive Every inch of this country is blessed ... We just lack the will power to harness it for the greater good oil has made the country lazy and its been a curse rather than a blessing... 3 Likes |

Sharpshooota: And what is stopping you from "growing at your own pace" at the moment Oil will still keep making the oil producing communities laziness. Same with communities that have minerala and precious stones. Regionalism or phantom "restructuring" has no meaning and solves nothing! 1 Like |

Ifiokumo: The current arrangement breeds poverty and laziness Even if you bring a Saint from heaven to Aso rock He will not succeed in Nigeria... So why not try something new... Our diversity is one of the bane of our development as a nation.... Regionalism takes care of such problems 3 Likes |

blackpanda:It solves alot , it means people with similar cultures are put together yes they will be issues here and there but the tolerance level will be manageable. Unlike now that you have Igbo and Hausa together and these 2 are two poles apart in terms of culture therefore tolerance level is very low. 3 Likes |

Chimok: I'm from Anambra but intentionally left it out. Anambra's place as an industrial/commercial hub can never be taken away from it. We will finally control Onitsha port, we will be able to dredge river Niger, give more support to Nnewi industrial clusters and so many other things. We will be the gateway between the rest of the country and the East African corridor which is the new strategic powerhouse of the continent so no shaking 3 Likes |
