Abba-Aji Dumps Governorship Ambition, Returns to PDP for Senate Seat

A former presidential liaison officer in the National Assembly, Senator Mohammed Abba-Aji at the weekend officially dumped his governorship ambition on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and picked the form of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest the Borno Central senatorial seat.

Abba-Aji, who was a Special Assistant to both former Presidents Umar Musa Yar’Adua and Goodluck Jonathan, said he left APC as a result of the fallout of the “imposition” of indirect primaries on the party in the state.

Speaking to journalists, Abba-Aji said his decision was informed by the internal problem bedeviling the APC in the state.

He decried that the APC governors have become extremely too powerful to the extent of pocketing state party chairmen to do their biddings.

He condemned the adoption of indirect primaries by Borno State chapter of the ruling party, adding that this was contrary to the resolution of the National Executive Council (NEC) of the party.

He said the adoption of indirect primaries was hurriedly done at a stakeholders’ meeting, which according to him was hurriedly convened without the presence of card- carrying members of the party and governorship aspirants.

The distortion in the party he added has inadvertently empowered the governors.

“What the governors are doing showed fear and distrust to people who have sticked out their necks to become members of APC . Stakeholders held meeting without the presence of any governorship aspirant, which is an injustice.

“My coming out to represent my people again at the National Assembly is to consolidate on what I had achieved while I was there , and by the grace of God, I am the candidate to beat. Whoever APC presents for the Borno Central senatorial race will suffer defeat from me. I will defeat their candidate because of my long term experience in the legislative business,” Abba-Aji said.

Abba-Aji said he was ready to contest with the incumbent Borno State Governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, for the Borno Central senatorial ticket at the upcoming 2019 elections.

Let's try to reason without sentiment. Bring your chairs closer and present yourself with an open mind.

First, take a deep breath...

The journey begins...
I could remember vividly when majority of us were busy celebrating APC as we now do to PDP and I was prompted to ask; what is the APC and PDP made of? People! They make the policy. The quality of the content represent the container.

Now, let's say Mr. A. has a potential of making a house dirty. He lived at RM 1 for few months due to his habitual life style of making a room unkept. However, his friends, fans and families began blaming the room for becoming dirty instead of the person living in it.

Mr. A knowing how lazy in keeping a room clean decided to evacuate to RM 2. families, fans and friends began showering all manners of praise for leaving the dirty house in finding a new place.

Just as his attitude wouldn't want to change, only few days he turned the room to a garbage still families, fans and friends open another pot of blames on the room, Some called it dirty house with many unprintable words and still not blaming who lives in it.

Seeing how RM 1 has been clean and beautiful again during his abscence Mr. A. decided to go back to it. Again, families, fans and friends began praising RM 1 for being clean to accommodate Mr. A.

The question:
Was the problem the room, or the person occupying the room? From the above you can tell the answer already.

The same reflect our state of politicians. Instead of us (majorly the youths) putting blames on these politicians we are here celebrating them when they switch parties. If Today, Buhari and every other member defect to PDP, we will still be celebrating.

The problem has never been the container but the content.

A law should be passed so every 'touch and go' remains in a particular party rather than jumping from one party to another engaging in political prostitution.

If we stop celebrating these people and force them to remain where they are in building their arena, then we can start hoping for a new country.

Thank you for your time.

Abeg! Who get talk show I want feature.
To talk dey hungry me.

This man has evaluated his chances in the APC and decided to join PDP, PDP have a very slim chance in Borno state, Because it is Buhari government that rescued Borno state and its people from total take over by Boko boys..

The way Nigerian politicians switch from different parties like hoes who ain't got loyalty is very appalling. Hardly will you see a Republican switch to Democrat and vise versa.
